I assumed it would be one of those that drives around in the mall or whatever (with rubber tires, no track), which I would find not-quite-as-cool-as something like a 1:8 live steamer engine.
I was recently gifted a G gauge live steam locomotive, which I am eager to get up and running. It will be able to run on our railroad museum’s train layout!

Pfffft… trains are cheap, wait until he gets the bill for building the tracks through the backyard.

That’s an amazing display piece, but for $17,200 I would expect it to actually operate!
@PooltoyWolf Wait, it doesn’t even work?
Hmm…
Sure ’nuff. Wild!

@PooltoyWolf @xobzoo Oh, wow!

@PooltoyWolf
Woah, Nelly!
Post some pix!
@PooltoyWolf I just assumed it worked for that price. Holy moley!!
Def send pics of your new toy when it is operational
@Kidsandliz @xobzoo Yes! This one is butane fired rather than coal, so is much cleaner and simpler to run, even indoors.
@tinamarie1974 About the only thing I still need to do is oil the cylinders and slides properly.
