Bug Report: an unresponsive script on this link is crashing my browser
6@Shawn and I’m not sure who else is a dev now that @katylava is gone: I was clearing out some email and accidentally clicked this link in an email when I meant to click another, and was rewarded for my misclick with an unresponsive script crashing my browser. The first time it happened clicking “Stop script” did nothing and I had to Force Quit the browser. When the browser reloaded of course I came back to the same tab and got the beachball of doom again, although it did eventually respond to the “Stop script” command and let me close the tab.
I’m running Firefox 54.0 (64-bit) on macOS 10.12.5

@f00l has a very annoying profile page to load.
@PlacidPenguin @jqubed It will load faster if you uncheck most things in the filter.
Still slow for anyone with frequent forum activity.
@PlacidPenguin
I am fundamentally a terrible human being, you know.
And, even if I uncheck most things, loading my profile page still usually stalls out or crashes the browser.
I have a theory that it actually loads everything, including all the star clicks, and simply then displays or does not display all that data depending on the settings.
I post a fair amount, but not enough to cause the kind of crashes I get, even if I only load my own posts and skip replies.
@PlacidPenguin
I was brought up to take pride in my insanity. I always strive for distinction.
Crashed my Chromebook pretty spectacularly. After reboot I tried to profile the page in the Chrome dev tools but that tab seems to be going haywire and locking up. So I’m just going to close it and slowly walk away. I will stay safely outside the event horizon of @f00l’s profile page from now on.
@awk
At one point @f00l would ask me for the latest stats from her profile as a result of it usually loading fine for me.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But yeah, walk away slowly without looking it in the eye.
@PlacidPenguin Well, if you turn off JavaScript it’s just a plain old fashioned 12.3 megabyte (!) web page, free of video players and junk, and it loads okay. So that’s kindof like looking at Medusa in the mirror.
@awk
Where would the fun be in that though?
And if you really wanna see a scary picture…
@awk
Pray, Sir, I beg your attention:
Nothing associated with me is free of said junk, as mentioned above.
I also assert that nothing associated with me is free of anything other kind of “junk” one might possibly imagine.
Pray, I beg you to refrain from issuing further inadvertent and unintentional insult toward me, Sir.
@awk So, what you’re saying is @f00l has too much junk in her trunk?
@f00l We must divide the “junk” into two categories, let’s call them Junk-∅, which is the naturally occurring junk you speak of (which is possibly stored in your “trunk” as @LaVikinga suggests), and Junk-JS which is a suffocating, camphorous ooze placed there by the most low and vile of beings: front-end developers. Once we scrape away the clinging viscous murk of Junk-JS, the air clears and we are free to see and admire Junk-∅, as it was intended to be .
@awk
Aaaaahhhhhhh.

@communist
It’s not a bug, it’s a scary monster.
