I can confirm at least the 1 gallon version sold here before holds up well to daily usage. I had it on my desk when I worked in a call center, and would fill it up with ice/water in the morning every other day. It would stay cold and last me two days, most of the time. I don’t have as much use for it now that I work from home, but I still have it for parties and such.
@decoratedwarvet You do know you can put other beverages in, right? I make a batch of limeaid and people add the tequila to their individual glasses so those who don’t drink alcohol don’t feel left out or pressured to drink it.
@jmbunkin you’d have to work hard to beat firehouse subs pickle buckets on price. A bucket with lid for $3 and the proceeds go to firemen. Plus they come with free pickle scent!
The one gallon one had negative reviews in part because the handle was attached to the lid rather than the body of the container. Looks like with the 3 gallon (that would be 24 pounds of water) it is attached to the container so bear that in mind when reading those reviews.
Bubba is no questions asked lifetime warranty,and i’ve used it so no BS,but i have a question where it says temp.32-38f…umm that dosent make sense shoulden’t it be coldest to hotest a 6 degree swing does not make sense…EXPLAIN TY
@mellowirishgent I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s “no questions asked”. I’m embroiled currently in a warranty claim for a water bottle and we’re on round three of “no questions asked”.
I have had several water bottle lids replaced in the past. They make you send a picture of the broken pieces. But this time they’re giving me a hard time. Not sure why.
The classic orange 5 gallon Igloo is $22 at Walmart. I guess $25 for this Bubba would be a fair MSRP, if you absolutely needed exactly 3 gallon volume and a shiny part. I’m disappointed in you, meh.
@djslack I’m having a hard time imagining planning for the need to keep 3 gallons of water cold for 2 days in a portable jug. I imagine the igloo would do an admirable job, especially if you use the extra 2 gallons of volume for ice. The igloo is cheaper, not discontinued, has replacement parts readily available, and has a more endearing name. I’m not saying the Bubba is a bad product, I’m saying it’s really bad at this price from a retailer like Meh.
@boygenius1991 yeah, you can put Tiquila in it & make Bubba drunk as a Mexican Hairless, then chases Forrest Gump around till he drops, or till Lt Dan shows up!! Run Forrest, Run!!
I just read the warranty id 90 days all their other product is lifetime means there is a glitch with this item .i’m gonna look into this before i hit the buy button
@therealjrn I mean, I did it from my phone from the first page of Google results. I didn’t even have a staff, writers, or devs to support me. And I believe I spelled everything correctly. But I did not create any characters or even sprinkle in any snark, so I don’t think I’m qualified to do this professionally.
@azdarkknight I’ve used my Bubba mugs for hot tea on a regular basis. But I’ve also messed up a couple by brewing the tea in them; they say flat-out not to put in boiling water, but hot is OK.
@azdarkknight@unksol I brew my black teas with freshly boiled water. The mugs have held up fine with hot tea; just not the freshly boiled. The glue sealing the top of the mug to the metal outside let go after that treatment. My bad.
@djslack@therealjrn-I do disagree: if you had $100 & I had twice as much, I would have $200, not $300. You keep excluding the 1:1 ratio in which they’re even. A 2:1 ratio means one is twice the other & a 3:1 ratio means one is three times more than the other. I can show you in an equation if you’ve taken Algebra & Trig, or even show you using Calculus. Or you can accept my opinion with a grain of salt. Which do you prefer? Also, no reply means you concede my A2A is the correct one.
I’ve screwed up a couple of Bubba mugs by brewing tea in them. And only after the second did I look at the specs to learn that while putting in hot water is fine, they specifically say that boiling water is a no-no.
But I doubt that it would keep three gallons hot long enough for someone to drink it, as opposed to having bunches of ice to keep cold.
At first I thought this had a stainless steel interior and I was sure I’d buy that. Then I saw the plastic interior and not so sure. I would use it to take good filtered water with me when I go on a trip in my camper for several days. Do these give the water that yummy plastic flavor or is it the fairly inert stuff. It looks like it would be OK I guess, or at least Meh.
the link to amazon reviews takes you to a listing for this thing at a $2.50 higher price, with free shipping.
Whomever got this deal featured should be impeached.
Is there a version of this with a metal interior rather than plastic? I’ve fallen into the trap of being wary of micro plastics getting into my food from the fear mongering, and would love a metal interior this size. Mostly because the water I have down here is so god awful that I go to my parent’s house twice a week to steal all their water.
@djslack Insulation doesn’t matter as much as size. Anything I drag home has to go up 3 flights of stairs. What fits goes straight into the fridge anyway. I was trying to use that zerowater filter since the water is so bad around here that even a regular old brita can’t get the sulfur taste out. They are almost useless though, they last barely a month if that and then the acidic lemon without the lemon flavor taste creeps in. Hence why I steal my water across from the bridge. It would be so much easier if a few thousand feet of hose wasn’t completely conspicuous.
@Tiamat114 you need the wireless pairing option someone asked about above.
I feel you. We have a camp on well water that is sulfurous like that. They say it’s safe but it’s disgusting. I don’t even like to take showers in it.
Since you put it in the fridge I’d just get a few of those two gallon dispenser bottles. Whatever microplastics they give you are bound to be better than the bad water.
@sammydog01@therealjrn@unksol
Strangest spelling yet for the word “whoa”, but anyway…
I know what the Amazon reviewer meant, of course: that if it didn’t keep the ice cold it wouldn’t be ideal because then it might not even be cold water, but… My point was that if it was still ice then it had to be cold and if not cold, well, then it’s not really ice anymore, is it?
Mine tipped over in my car the other day; forgot about it and there was ~1-2 gal of water in my rear footwell… Aren’t Bubba not supposed to leak like crazy?

Oh Boy! a Bubba!
No App? How can I tell how much I drank?
And it’s Hand Wash Only
@therealjrn
Seems pretty big for the dishwasher.
@djslack @therealjrn, Yeah, especially since the dish-washer can only watch you wash Bubba by hand!!
@therealjrn meh is selling a wi-fi toilet tomorrow that will tell you how much you drank.
Lots of drinky things this week.

@Jamileigh17 You sound dehydrated.
@therealjrn most people don’t drink more than a half gallon of water a day.
@katbyter OMG!! It’s WORSE than I thought!
@Jamileigh17, It’s such a real blow out party when you have water to drink at a party! Woopy!
@decoratedwarvet @Jamileigh17 I can see its use for after the party when one may be at peek dehydration.
@decoratedwarvet You do know you can put other beverages in, right? I make a batch of limeaid and people add the tequila to their individual glasses so those who don’t drink alcohol don’t feel left out or pressured to drink it.
It’s container week on Meh.com ! 5 gallon buckets with lids tomorrow I assume.
@jmbunkin you’d have to work hard to beat firehouse subs pickle buckets on price. A bucket with lid for $3 and the proceeds go to firemen. Plus they come with free pickle scent!
@jmbunkin, No, but a 55 gal drum of water with all you can eat candy corn on the side. What a treat!!
@djslack @jmbunkin how much with the pickles is the question
Are these Bluetooth?
The one gallon one had negative reviews in part because the handle was attached to the lid rather than the body of the container. Looks like with the 3 gallon (that would be 24 pounds of water) it is attached to the container so bear that in mind when reading those reviews.
Can you wirelessly connect two for 6 gallons?
Last picture needs a banana for scale. Can’t tell if that’s a very short woman or an insanely well insulated barrel.
@stinks That lady is going to catch a chill dressed like that.
@stinks @therealjrn Nah, she’s got her a Bubba.
@stinks how did they get my picture?!?!
@stinks Needs another bubba jug so we can go nuts with the “jugs” puns.
@stinks @therealjrn, no cause she’s hot & she’s an indoor-bot!
@tinamarie1974 That was my first thought when I saw the picture.
@macromeh pretty sure I have that costume or something very similar! Lol
@mediocrebot
How did @mediocrebot get my creepy picture?

@katbyter I had a bad gasket and yes had to send a pic but they sent a whole new 24 oz bubba
I still have my
1/31 gallon Bubba from years ago. Was worth it and still is.@pat4ever 128 ounces is a full gallon.
I bought one of those, too, but I’ve never used it. I’ll wash it tomorrow and use it Thursday. If I remember.
@craigthom whoops! I just meant 1 gallon.
@pat4ever Revised.

@Oneroundrobb does the classic igloo 5 gallon jug keep ice water for two days straight in the heat?
From what I can tell from a quick search MSRP on this was $40 before it was discontinued.
@djslack I’m having a hard time imagining planning for the need to keep 3 gallons of water cold for 2 days in a portable jug. I imagine the igloo would do an admirable job, especially if you use the extra 2 gallons of volume for ice. @Oneroundrobb Don’t worry, it’s cool. I’m not trying to sell it to you.
They both have names that may eventually fall once the limbo stick indicating offensive thought is lowered far enough.
can you put stuff besides water, like gatorade or cocktails in this or will it build up in the spout and rot and get ants
@boygenius1991 Just run boiling water through it after using it. That won’t let any of the sugars A C C U M U L A T E
@boygenius1991 @Kross Yeah, you don’t want to accumulate ants.
@boygenius1991 @Kross I’m not sure boiling water would be a good idea in this plastic jug.
@boygenius1991 yeah, you can put Tiquila in it & make Bubba drunk as a Mexican Hairless, then chases Forrest Gump around till he drops, or till Lt Dan shows up!! Run Forrest, Run!!
@boygenius1991 @craigthom @KRoss-who drinks boiling fn water?Âż
@boygenius1991 @Kross tea you REALLY don’t want to put boiling water in this thing
What is this? A water jug for ants?!! How do you expect @boygenius1991 to drink his Gatorade cocktails if he cant even fit them through the spout?!?
I just read the warranty id 90 days all their other product is lifetime means there is a glitch with this item .i’m gonna look into this before i hit the buy button
@mellowirishgent Or it’s discontinued by the manufacturer, hence this closeout.
Here are the reviews for the 3 gallon one on Amazon.
@djslack Came here to post this. Was that so hard, meh?
@therealjrn I mean, I did it from my phone from the first page of Google results. I didn’t even have a staff, writers, or devs to support me. And I believe I spelled everything correctly. But I did not create any characters or even sprinkle in any snark, so I don’t think I’m qualified to do this professionally.
/image change my mind
@djslack I hear ya. I just used the word “bubba” followed by the model number “1970030”
We must be doing it wrong.
@therealjrn you are… i used the model number followed by the word bubba. One of us is wrong!
/giphy there can be only one
@djslack NO U
/giphy YOU ARE
Yeah, Bubba! Long live Bubba!
Shame about the plastic innards, no 3 gallon cup of hot tea for me then!
@azdarkknight I’ve used my Bubba mugs for hot tea on a regular basis. But I’ve also messed up a couple by brewing the tea in them; they say flat-out not to put in boiling water, but hot is OK.
@azdarkknight @corkscrew what tea are you brewing with boiling water?
Either way I wouldn’t put coffee in them. Think I still have one in the junk box that failed spectacularly after just a few gas station refills
@azdarkknight @unksol I brew my black teas with freshly boiled water. The mugs have held up fine with hot tea; just not the freshly boiled. The glue sealing the top of the mug to the metal outside let go after that treatment. My bad.
The model number pleases me…
Model: 8U884-DU8-DU8
Will QT let me fill this up with frozen coke??
@Tadlem43 Holy brain freeze, Batman!
/image bring your own cup day
@Tadlem43, how can you snort frozen coke?
@decoratedwarvet (wrong kind of coke, dude!)
You guys need to sell something I dont own already so that’s can buy one! It’s been too long.
@sammydog01 You have the 3 gallon Bubba model number 1970030?
@therealjrn It came in a Fuko and I would have to dig it out from under a pile of stuff to check. So I’m not sure.
@sammydog01 Oh, I was just messing around…
…you’d better go ahead and get one just in case.
@therealjrn Maybe 3?
@sammydog01 I think 3 at least would be the prudent thing to do.
Interestingly, for example, the jelly will be stored in it normally The shelf life of 90 days really does not inspire confidence.
@LiamBlack
/giphy it must be jelly cause jam don’t shake like that
/giphy infinite shelf life
@djslack @LiamBlack, is pussy kitty drinking Vodka! Damn!! Go Cat Go!!
3 stars & only $2.50 more on Amazon.
Hmmmm. Not the bargain I would have predicted.
@ElieC The one meh linked to above is just a 1 gallon, this one is 3 gallon. Here’s the not available 3 gallon link: https://www.amazon.com/bubba-gallon-cooler-charcoal-blue/dp/B01COBAD90/
@ElieC i believe you’re looking at the one gallon model. This one holds like at least twice as much as that.
@djslack TOO SLOW SUCKA
@ElieC, it never is with me!
@djslack @ElieC, 3x as much, ain’t it?¿
@decoratedwarvet @djslack That’s at least twice as much : )
@djslack @therealjrn-I do disagree: if you had $100 & I had twice as much, I would have $200, not $300. You keep excluding the 1:1 ratio in which they’re even. @decoratedwarvet what’s behind door number three?
/giphy whoooosh
Doh! You all are right. I shouldn’t be drinking & meh-ing. This one clearly holds 10x as much.
I have nothing to say, I’m all said out & drank too much what I thought was water!! Burrrp & Hick-Up!!
Heh. Jugs.
I’ve screwed up a couple of Bubba mugs by brewing tea in them. And only after the second did I look at the specs to learn that while putting in hot water is fine, they specifically say that boiling water is a no-no.

@Bumplepimp Oh my God, I TOTALLY remember this!! LOVED this cereal!! Your post brought so many memories flooding back!
the link to amazon reviews takes you to a listing for this thing at a $2.50 higher price, with free shipping.

@SCHORERT woooops, three gal vs one gal…now I really don’t want it.
@SCHORERT Not only that, but Keepa says the last several times this specific product was sold on Amazon it was a Warehouse deal for $16 lols
Bubba on Meh is like butter on mehread.
I love this. I don’t need it. I won’t buy it. But I love it.

@Tiamat114 stop keeping your food near the fear mongering and you should be ok.
Most large all stainless bottles/jugs I’ve seen are not insulated. There are a couple in the one gallon range that are insulated like the Yeti Rambler or this more reasonable RTIC one: https://smile.amazon.com/RTIC-Gallon-Vacuum-Insulated-Stainless/dp/B07DHWT9BX/
If you don’t need an insulated container you get a few more options, but they can be pricy.
@Tiamat114 The micro-plastics are already in the water.
@craigthom @Tiamat114 (re: micro-plastics in the water) Very sad, but true. But I also don’t want to add more!
@djslack Insulation doesn’t matter as much as size. Anything I drag home has to go up 3 flights of stairs. What fits goes straight into the fridge anyway. @djslack @Tiamat114 “Insulation doesn’t matter as much as size”. So, what you’re really saying is size matters?
@djslack @robson Yes indeed, size matters.
@djslack @robson @Tiamat114
Catchy tune.

@mehvid1 I really don’t know what you’re going for here… Did you completely miss the word keep?
It literally says my husband works outside. And insulates his ice well.
I wouldn’t buy it but that is it’s purpose.
@mehvid1 @unksol I assume the point is that if ice warms up it’s no longer ice.
