“Built-in Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa”, so these are leftovers of the old version built specifically for Amazon, which are being discounted at $249 over there vs. their original price of $299. They say that these aren’t officially discontinued yet, but…
I love these things. I don’t even listen to music, but I’ve been using them for work for a while.
At one point I got them to just put a bit of a muzzle on the people I had to work with, used them on flights just so I didn’t have engine noise, and now I use them at work to just have real silence.
However, they do NOT like being connected to two things at once, they start to break up a lot. They also aren’t good as mics if you are having a discussion, I have always been told it sounds really weird when I’m on a call with them. But still? I use them often. They have great battery life even after a few years and are worth every penny. If I could afford it, I’d buy another pair of these for others in my household.
** Oh, and note: Do not EVER update the firmware on these. Bose really screwed them up in an apparent attempt to push their newer headsets at the time. The noise cancelling got a lot worse and that is when my bluetooth issue started. Later revisions just made the ANC worse so I don’t open the Bose app. I opened it just once to set the noise cancelling and never again. @creativecstasy And you can listen to your laptop’s audio without it going all broken? Because if I’m JUST paired to my laptop I can, but if it auto-connects to my phone then the audio breaks down bad.
“With one 2.25-hour charge, these headphones can stream audio for up to 20 hours; using the included 3.5mm audio cable, the QuietComfort 35’s noise-reduction capabilities will last for up to 40 hours before requiring recharging.” You only get the 40 hour charge if you’re using that for noise-reduction and relying on an audio cable.
Also, on Overstock, it’s sold by a 3rd party vendor 6AVE, a seller w/ sub-par reviews.
An epic research and testing battle happened in my life a while before Covid struck, and the final contenders for me were these, the Sony XMC3, and the Microsoft Surface headphones. Each are worthy options with pros and cons:
The Microsoft ones ended up being what I got for work, since they worked best for my multiple devices, and the EQ was decent once you tuned it in software. Least capable with noise cancellation, but the mic quality and utility are great.
The Sony model was what I got for music because they seemed to fit a slightly more natural sound profile, and can be adjusted very specifically to your tolerance for the “pressure” that often accompanies active noise cancellation. Even if the noise canceling process isn’t quite as complete as the Bose, they were more comfortable for me.
The Bose has arguably the best noise canceling, with a somewhat more shaped musical sound. You may be fine with that, or it may bother you - I didn’t dig how much I had to fiddle with an EQ to try and fight their bass. They were also quirky about switching devices, or simultaneous connections.
Ultimately, the Bose were the ones that I skipped, because I had the option to get two sets for distinct purposes. They are, however, one of the first that I’d recommend if you’re only looking for just one great set of headphones with active noise cancellation. And the Sony fits right up with it if you want a slightly more natural sound, and don’t mind the active noise cancellation being a tiny step down, or if you are more sensitive to the feeling of pressure in your ears. Comes down to personal preference and which trade-offs you think are worth it. I don’t have these, but that won’t stop me from saying that they’re great, and that this price is way better than when I bought my competing Sony cans.
I had the v1 of these and loved them. I eventually traded them out a few years later for the SonyWH-1000XM3, which I liked a little better, but the Bose were pretty awesome. This seems like a steal at this price.
I got a pair of these in 2019 BC. They sound great and are very comfy, but ultimately I traded em in for the Arctis pro wireless because the microphone on the Bose is kinda awful.

@stinks literally what I was thinking. I saw these and instantly thought, what– how– what– how– what the– HOW THE FRICK.
@stinks @werehatrack I got this exact model at Costco a few years ago - it’s not just an Amazon model
@creativecstasy @stinks
Meh had what Amazon considers to be the successor a couple of months back. (Amazon is probably wrong about that.)
OH MY GOD THEY CANNED GLEN!!!
@shahnm
Canned Glen will keep forever in your pantry!
@werehatrack I can store him on the shelf right next to the spotted dick…

From the pricing and being offering on Meh, did Bose get acquired by Monster or something?
@mike808 No, but Bose submitted the FCC filing for the Quietcomfort 45 headphones.
They must be gearing up to drop the next version.
I missed yesterday’s meh and my 29 day streak is over. My meh career is done. Dad was right.
That did you say? I canceled you now if I close my eyes you can’t see me.
My wife demanded that I get these for her. She says it’s like having your own space…
They were a lot more at Costco.
@2many2no these are also cheaper than your wife going to Costco to find her own space.
@2many2no @commonhero welcome to Costco. I love you!
@2many2no @commonhero @kus Oooo! I get that reference.

@Artimid I pair this model with my laptop and phone without issue
@Artimid
This might explain the wonkiness of the 700 that my partner grabbed here a couple of months ago.
@creativecstasy And you can listen to your laptop’s audio without it going all broken? Because if I’m JUST paired to my laptop I can, but if it auto-connects to my phone then the audio breaks down bad.
@Artimid @creativecstasy I also have them connected to my laptop and phone simultaneously through most of the day.
@Artimid yep, I run both all day, no problem. I use it for calls, zoom, and music, without skipping a beat (heh)
They’re new, but only have a 90-day warranty? What’s up with that?
Are these at Overstock.com for 209.99 with FREE shipping the same? Overstock says a charge last for 40 hours, not 20 like Meh conservatively says.
Bose QuietComfort 35 Series II at Overstock
@hchavers I think you need to read more closely:

A Quiet Place Part 3 (presented by Bose) is looking… sounding good.
Nails on a chalkboard ----- do they still use chalkboards?
I have all the headphones I need and then some but I am here for the AQP shade

Is there a reason why these only come with a 90 day warranty yet they’re new? Doesn’t Bose have a one year warranty for new products?
