I think I might have bought this last night due to the low price, however the circuit breaker gave me more time to reflect on my decision. Now I wonder if the circuit breaker has the potential to reduce overall sales by stopping midnight mass hysteria.

@boygenius1991 I really enjoy the 808’s as well. I recently bought a pair of 1.0 Parrot Zik’s since I read so many great things about them and Amazon had them on sale for $99 on June 3rd. Honestly, the Parrot Zik noise cancelling is phenomenal but other than that, the 808’s offer more bass and less risk when I am mowing the lawn…

@mr_crash_davis My son cracked his. He was all I am so sorry all I did was put it on my head. I told him they are known to crack, that is why I bought you more than one. He said but the box says unbreakable. I said that is life.

@username yeah, if you have a large head like mine, it definitely builds pressure on the top of your ears that can get pretty uncomfortable. That’s my only actual complaint with them, sound is great for the price.

@getkind I know I have a big head, but I hadn’t considered whether my ears are bigger than average. If it’s hurting the top of your earlobe though, then I think it’s just the entire headphone set itself that’s too small for your head–if it applies even pressure on your earlobes, then that seems like it would be an ear size issue (though I feel like having even pressure would probably result in no pain…)

@getkind They’re much more comfortable for me after removing the over-ear cushions. Maybe you want to get a different set of over-ear headphones and use these elsewhere.

@Superjimtendo Yeah, I agree. If limits are set, it should be an limit set to the number of people first few hours but reset every hour to allow people to buy again. But, it’s hard to argue with a company how to deal with having more demand than supply. lol

@Superjimtendo I get what you’re saying, but I think you have a limited perspective on it. My take is that if you see the ‘deal paused’ button, there’s a good chance it would have been sold out by the time you got to the site anyway.

So think of it as a second chance to buy the thing you didn’t need in the first place.

If they don’t sell out for the rest of the day you might have a point but considering the biggest batch is sold at the midnight release and the deal was on pause by no later than 12:50 AM when people started bitching about it here I would say your logic is faulty. The circuit breaker did exactly what it was supposed to, it spread out the existing inventory across the day to give a wider audience a chance to purchase. If it ends up having a net negative effect on the overall movement of inventory then I’m sure they’ll change their minds but we’re far from having established a meaningful track record on the matter.

@cag80 it would prove nothing about whether or not pausing made sense. @snapster has indicated they need experiment with quantities at each stage.

In any case, refer back to mediocre.com. This entire scheme is one huge lab rat experiment.

@cag80 the failure of calibration on this deal or even in a continued progression of failure on future deals still needs to be weighed against the success and opportunity the idea brings.

Keep second guessing us - I’m not complaining that you are. I’m very aligned in support of the midnight eastern launch crowd. Just not at the cost of what was a languid status quo growth rate in new customers.

@snapster My above comment talks more long term because in order to specifically have concern about the headphone today, you’d be lobbying not for the 12am launch crowd but rather the 12:30am straggler. I don’t think that’s a rational side to take for a productive discussion.

@actionjbone just choose “bass reducer” in “Settings, Music, EQ” on an iphone or if on android check your music player for an equalizer or download one from play store and reduce the bass… they sound pretty good when bass reduction has occured.
