Book Club- Frankenstein (Unofficial)
2Votes were slim this month but at least a couple of us wanted to read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. It should be readily available and, as a bonus to you audiobook fanatics, there is a version recorded by Mr. sexy voice Dan Stevens.

Ok!
Oh, did I forget to vote? Or did I vote? Anyway, COOL!
Remember everybody: the monster is wordy, precocious, motherless teenage girl who is super mad (with good reason) at her dad.
@mossygreen Did I also forget to add “a” before wordy? Or did I edit it out somehow? What an exciting life I lead.
I very much like the theory that the creature is going through all of the Lacanian psycholinguistic stages of development through the story. Go go Gadget Superego!
NPR Science Friday did a multi-segment program on this book just this year. If you haven’t really read the book, read it before listening. If you are re-reading the book, just cause, have a go. If you’ve read it enough times already but are intrigued…

I’m working through the audiobook and am hearing blah blah blah. Looks like I need to pick up the written version.
This book is one of my favorites. It’s a brilliant story, told over and over again in different formats a hundred times a year. The story of how it came to be written is interesting as well, and has been the subject of several films, including Gothic and Haunted Summer.
@moondrake I went to pick up a copy and it looks like there is the standard edition and an 1818 uncensored edition. Know anything about the differences? Is the 1831 copy the one you read?
@sammydog01 I honestly don’t recall. I’ve read it three or four times. But if I were choosing I’d go for the original. Here’s an annoyingly formatted comparison. Looking at this I am pretty sure I read the original.
