@mcanavino I recall when hard luggage was either stiff leather or a mix of wood, leather and fiberboard. With metal corners. There may still be an example in the attic.
MSRP is $499.95, which is obviously a BullshitPointlessMeaningless Price. $330 is implied as a theoretical “actual” price, without a convincing cite concerning where that might have been asked.
Without any reviews, I’d steer clear. Only the height is given in the specs. What about the width, depth, and especially weight? A real concern when travelling internationally.
Does it roll smoothly? Will it roll straight or veer off? How sturdy are the handles – Do they wobble? Are they easy to extend and retract?
How smooth are the zippers? The Bon Voyage site shows a fancy logo zipper pull, but doesn’t appear to have a way to lock the bag that I can see. I never lock mine anyway, but you might want to consider.
I’m not saying you should spend a fortune on a Tumi, Away or other fancy name bag, but it’s definitely worth paying more for quality luggage. You’ll pay about the same amount for one Travelpro Maxlite 5 bag as you will for this set. However, losing a wheel or getting your bag back haphazardly taped together and missing items after the zipper failed is not a good way to start or end a vacation.
@ciabelle OTOH if you can get away with an inexpensive option which turns out fine, the cost difference might cover an extra day or two of vacation! Choose wisely.
I’m picky about zippers, I guess I only know one good brand for them. Whenever a product has a zipper, I try to find out “Is it YKK?” and if not, I bail.
@ciabelle I have yet to see a spinner bag that can be dragged across a typical busy urban street without going into DeathWobble mode and trying to break my wrist. Trying to use one as a spinner is even worse; the casters will grab on any imperfection in the pavement, causing the bag to twist even more violently than in drag-behind DeathWobble mode. I greatly prefer two-wheel non-caster luggage for the larger bags, and will continue to rehab my old SwissGear as needed until I can find another two-wheel replacement that’s as good.
@acwest I don’t know the actual answer, but they sure look like they could nest, and every set of bags like these I’ve bought in the last ten years came nested and ready to go. (I’ve bought a lot of 'em, but that’s a different story)
@EdgarAllenPope i actually hate hard sided luggage. Every set I have ever owned lasted about 2 or 3 filghts max before a support/side strut or whatever you call it either broke or splintered. Not going there again. (One cheap one, one name brand not so cheap)
I once had an old early Pullman which was on wheels but looked like an old school piece and it lasted years and years, planned obsolescence these days I guess
Yet another spinner set. I will continue to hold out for old-style drag-behind for my checked bags. Those typically provide more internal volume along with being less prone to trying to waddle violently and/or flip over when traversing uneven surfaces.

I can’t find any reviews or ratings for this or any Bon Voyage luggage. I’m hoping, is anyone better at googling than me?
@acestarflyer Same here, can’t find anything
@acestarflyer pretty sketchy, only sites you’ve never heard of that sell it. Pass!
What do I need luggage for if I can’t afford to go anywhere?
@warpedrotors Just think creatively! One time I used luggage to transport a turkey to thanksgiving dinner on public transit.
@DLPanther @warpedrotors Live or expired?
That orange should be easy to spot on the baggage carousel.
@jimdkc so would “splintered plastic amid polka-dot underwear”
I’m this old to remember “hard sided luggage” meant metal, not plastic.
@mcanavino I recall when hard luggage was either stiff leather or a mix of wood, leather and fiberboard. With metal corners. There may still be an example in the attic.
So the difference between the advertised and discounted prices seems to be more than the $200 you mention in the blurb. A bit confusing.
@tarpaper it’s quite simple; $200 is less than a price over $200, whereas $200 would be greater than a price which is less than $200.

@hchavers surely those batteries should be travelling in an ice-box.

@806D2701 YKK has enough of a good reputation these days that it’s likely a luggage seller will advertise if they use them.

I need a set like this and would consider buying it if the most important piece of information wasn’t missing.
Do they nest?
@troy Any data on this issue? Do they ship in a single carton with the casters already installed?
@werehatrack @acwest unfortunately I’m not sure if these nest
@acwest @troy @werehatrack
/showme luggage nesting

Doesn’t everyone have a 3 piece set of hard sided luggage by now? I’ve gotten three in Irks over the past year.
@EdgarAllenPope I don’t have any hard-side luggage at all. This has not been a problem for me.

ABS not durable. Polycarbonate (PC) durable.
@satyenshah Particularly if you fly on United.
I agree with all the cons. On the other hand, if I wanted to steal the design of a luggage from Monos, this is about how I’d make my bag look.
Also luggage seems to be a side hustle. Their web site is all about a travel pillow?
I bought cheap luggage for years. I finally paid top dollar, and no longer have to buy crappy luggage every few years.
Can’t tell how much each bag weighs either? Any idea?
ABS luggage with an MSRP of $499? And 0 reviews? Lol. You’re better off buying random Chinese word-vomit branded luggage from Walmart.
This brand also makes these “fashion” backpacks :
@Kyeh
/showme OMG
ABS = hard no
Process it
These things are a POS. Used them twice and all busted up!
