Bluetooth speakers without mic
1I would like to get some Bluetooth speakers that can pair for stereo that don’t have a mic. I just want them to play music, not be speaker phones. I really, really don’t want to share my phone calls with the whole party. Ideally they would be okay outdoors and not cost too much.
But every time I see something that looks hopeful it has voice setup, or worse, is “Alexa ready”. Does anyone have a recommendation for something similar to today’s Syren, but without a mic?

No clue if it’s any good, and I’m sure there are many other Bluetooth speakers available at MorningSave
Monster Blaster Boombox Indoor/Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker (Open Box)
And mic or no mic, if you get a call while connected to Bluetooth I’m pretty sure you’ll be sharing the call with the whole party.
You can turn off the phone audio in the bluetooth device settings. just uncheck phone audio.
@bryanlc 5% battery left? You need to get that phone to a charger.
We bought our son a Bose Bluetooth Soundlink Mini (first generation, not second) and it is a great basic Bluetooth speaker. No mike, no Alexa crap. And actually the reviews of the version 2 would indicate better sound than the newer model. Not sure where to get one, though.
@ybmuG Just speak slowly and clearly “Alexa, where can I find a Bose Bluetooth Soundlink Mini 1st generation?”
@ybmuG Did you try FleaBay?
@rtjhnstn since I’m not the one looking for one, no
UE ( Ultimate Ears) Wonder Boom 2. Improved from the Original Wonder Boom, You can pair two together for stereo.
Meh, then Morningsave offered these. Their sound is decent.
@rtjhnstn I admired the retro vibe of those.
Sounds like the JBL Flip 5 is pretty close to what you’re wanting. They actually took out the speakerphone functionality that was in the 4, it can be linked for stereo, and it’s waterproof. I have the 4, and I like the sound quality and volume.
@Kabn Huh…I could have sworn the Flip series was a stereo speaker. Maybe they changed that with the 5.
EDIT: Google provides mixed results. The official spec sheet seems to indicate there is a single oval driver, but some images and sites on Google show two drivers.
Thanks all!
The best speakers I’ve yet to buy are the UE Boom2 . We need a deal over here for these.
I own 5-6 of them, super loud and clear and can pair all of them.
@myi I too have the Ultimate Ears Boom 2. It is simply the best portable bluetooth speaker I’ve ever owned(and I’ve owned many). Good bass(if you want it, can control the EQ in the companion app), doesn’t distort at high volumes, waterproof, good battery life also a few other cool things to control in the companion app that is available for android or iOs.
