How’d everybody do? Did you manage to refund your way down to the cheap IRK, or maybe catch one in the wild? Any other good gets or regrets?
Especially interested in your refund strategies and how they worked out.

I bought an old school fastest to the draw irk and played a bunch of fun games. Time well spent.

I made the two purchases, but the kits (and the rebate) were gone. Very disappointed
I didn’t buy one.
Going to worldcon and shipment of irks sometimes are hinky and didn’t want it to come when i was gone. I mean, likely would be here first, but… then i’d regret

Didnt buy anything until second day when Irk was no longer side deals deal of the day. Still no IRK for 2025 but 5 more months left

The cat will be happy (hopefully) with the cat food purchases. If she is too finicky then it goes to my sister’s fur babies that will eat anything.
I grabbed the Sidedeal second day by clicking the link in the Meh write up. I decided I wanted to surprise myself with the IRK for my birthday. The shipping should time it pretty close.
I played a few games but work and being out of town limited my time to participate.

@jouest @speediedelivery Mine will eat just about anything except cockroaches. Those they each tried once and threw them up. Instead they play with them, sometimes in the middle of the night on my bed. Ugh.They also only eat grasshopper heads. Lizards they usually eat all but the rear legs. Don’t ask me how I know all this.
I hope my second purchase will still get refunded. With coming home from vacation I wasn’t left with lots of time, my second purchase came in at midnight.

I monitored for a while and had two shots at VMP IRKs. Didn’t find anything else that called, even during VMP hour, which is normal lately. So kinda meh but huge kudos for bringing at least a few IRKs back to the membership.
I gots me three IRKs in the pipeline. Made my refund purchases five minutes before the deadline. There wasn’t a whole lot of stuff that appealed to me this time around.
@ShotgunX still pulled it off!
No purchases, no IRK, but I managed to come up with a winning MIBMMTIS entry for the contest. There were a couple of items that I sort of wanted but didn’t really need, and finances around here are going to remain tight through at least the end of next year, so I decided to just sit this one out.

@werehatrack I tried to sit it out, but the Mixing bowls pulled me in (which I ended getting or morning save instead of the mehrathon)
Really upped my click-count, scored an old school IRK and missed a bunch of sleep.

I…erm… forgot about the Mehrathon until the last hour (had some fun car troubles instead, whee!) BUT!
Had some fun in the whirlwind of finishing as many games as I could in the last hour and I seem to have won another IRK?
(Winning IRKs in games way is how I ended up getting into IRKs in the first place, and now I have a tattoo. It’s a gateway drug, people.)

@pakopako the contests and the IRKs. Before, I didn’t pay much attention to the forum, and my slow Internet meant never getting IRKs, which sounded meh anyway.
And then I won something like 3-4 from contests, and the games were fun. The IRKs also all pretty darn nice. Not a single used t shirt or obvious trash.
And of course there was the PastaBox.
THEN came the tattoo (I missed the previous window, but thankfully caught the last!) Which paid for itself on the first IRK, and also on not losing sleep trying to catch an IRK.
I think I’ve only successfully clicked my way to an IRK once.
@Kyeh YUP! I didn’t originally realize, because the emails for contest IRKs threaded. So I thought I just had the one.

What’s this about a birthday?
@medz It is the same carp they pulled last year. I think they are lying.
I got a few things I didn’t need.
Finally bought one of the portable tire inflators. I don’t really need it as my car has run flats, but I wanted to keep it in my car with the jump start kit. Yeah, I’m the stupid who always pulls over to try to help someone in need. 
My youth was embarrassing, so I still have a shit-ton of karma to burn off 
I’ll get there some day 
And after my thing, my outlook on life is, ‘if I can, I will’
I didn’t buy anything. I would have played the games, but my husband and I had a big awful argument and I was too upset for a few days to do anything remotely fun. Bad timing. I didn’t realize we could buy an IRK if we already were getting a free one from the ink club…? Guess I missed out on that.
The “hugging” emoji here is too cheerful. but still… hugs?

We’re a month or three away from 25 years and I’d be a liar if I said we haven’t had our share of big blow ups. But dust settles. And life finds a way 
I hope a week from now you are both laughing together with things in the past.

@capnjb We just had our 19th wedding anniversary, (23 years together) and this was the worst dust up I can remember. It was really a punch in the gut. (figuratively)

I won’t pretend to understand what happened, but after 23 years together, I’m hoping this bump in the road passes soon for you both and you can get back to calling him an idiot as soon as possible

@jouest if we are ink for irk during events like this with multiple irks are we allowed to buy one too or does that cancel out getting our ink for irk one? The first birthday irk that came up I could have gotten it as many didn’t realize it was birthday time yet and it sat there forever (well forever is relative - it sat there long enough with a slow internet connection I could have snagged it) until sold out (I checked it several times and was shocked it was still not sold out) and could have gotten one. I didn’t click on anything but the face as I thought I wasn’t allowed to buy it. (I realize winning a game for one is different).

@troy Thank you! I wish I had bought the first $11 one that stayed open so long it closed as that one I could have gotten (slow internet, lots of latency). I wasn’t sure of the rules so I didn’t hit buy. I appreciate you answering.

Didn’t find anything anything to buy (a close call or two though) and spent way too much time in the forum when I should have been working. That turned into a bonus birthday game IRK which was just delivered on a Sunday morning.
I didn’t see any of the fastest finger IRKs when they were available, but probably wouldn’t have tried in an attempt to let the wealth be spread. As an ink club member my cup has way runneth over anyway, but the thrill of an instant buy, did it work old school purchase is a big adrenaline rush so it’s tempting.
@djslack Yeah, I refrain from trying to get those pop-up ones even though it’s tempting, since I know I’m already getting one for my ink. It seems a bit unfair to deprive the non-inked.
I STILL love my Cuisinart bread maker I received in last years IRK! Thanks Meh!

My only regret is that I wasn’t able to absolutely dominate the event and win a shitload of coupons like last year.
I think they wised up to my antics and made things more balanced by limiting the number of games and made them require more effort individually. Still won, though.
