@norman8 really? this is the first one that I’ve ever seen that does look like a bullet… almost comically so… as if the term bullet cam got taken literally due to a translation error with a design studio that doesn’t speak the same language as the client.
I thought of buying one of these when they were on MorningSave, but if I’m going to get a knockoff GoPro, I decided I’d rather have one closer to the GoPro’s form factor. Meh.
Yesterday was a heater shaped like a speaker and today we have a camera shaped like a bullet. Tomorrow are we getting a knife shaped like a coffee mug or a quadcopter that doubles as blender?
@pburkej There is a firmware download on he manufacturer’s site for this -> “A/S mode ON – Auto saving every 15 minutes per .MOV file (1.5GB)” . So if autosave mode is the same as loop, then yes.
@justbuyit The camera definitely has some contrast and color issues. The sequence recorded in the snow was almost painful to watch. Definitely no GoPro here…
But, all my cameras were stolen in a home burglary in the fall, so this would be at least SOMETHING to use until I can budget to replace my GoPros. Still mulling…
Useful link to determine exactly what each included accessory is supposed to do. Also to determine that it does 1080p/30fps and 720p/60fps. Also says it has some kind of motion stabilization feature. I’m looking for more detailed information on that.
So I wonder if the lady of the house will get crazy with it??? Maybe get some internal shots with it? Probably a bit hazy with a condom over it… I have got to get my mind out of the gutter. ( parallel-courteous-verse )
If you go to (what there is of) the webpage, there is time lapse and other stuff. Also - removable battery since I like to build my own longer-term systems. I’m in.
@Thinkerer where at their site are you seeing removable battery, time lapse, and “other stuff”? Looks like pretty thin info and only a quick start guide.
From the FAQ page from link above:
“Q: What kind of batteries do the action cams use?
A: Both models come with rechargeable/removable lithium-ion batteries.”
The only batt I have found so far is on eBay and runs $33…if one of you finds/builds better ones, let me know please.
I was all in on the price until I saw the videos on YouTube. What a piece of shit…I guess I’ll stick to filming with my one plus one camera for now…Still haven’t seen a camera except go pro black that can match it. Just have to keep it out of the water
Wow, let the whole world become my Gynecologist. Get accurate informed non medical opinions from total internet strangers…although once I’ve shared pics of my internal organs…can we really call ourselves strangers
@laidbackoh The blue then red then off seems to be the dance of “i have no memory card”. Mine does it and it’s currently without memory. It did light up green when i plugged it in to charge.
@laidbackoh have you tried holding it down for a few seconds to power it on? if you just tap the button it lights up, but to power it on or off you have to hold it down for a bit.
Got mine today. Will try various things and share some here. Honestly, the, er, x-rated internal idea is kind of hot… one of the girls might be interested in that…
Got mine and popped in a 32GB micro flash, and had no problems getting it to “start” recording. None of the files it created were playable, though. Bios must have gotten a flood of angry Mehsters and moved on to the next town because their site has been down for days. Luckily, I found another site that carried this item, albeit at ridonkulous prices, but at least they posted some firmware updates which appear way newer than what came on my bulletcam.
After flashing one of these newer firmware, the camera now starts and finishes a playable recording. You can tell the recording saves properly when after you tap the button, it turns solid blue for a few seconds and then flashes red a couple of times with a little wiggle for good measure.
I used the 5-minute increment auto-save firmware and can report that the camera creates multiple .mov files, each 5-minutes long <DERP>. No loop, no overwrite.

Doesn’t look like a bullet to me.
@norman8 really? this is the first one that I’ve ever seen that does look like a bullet… almost comically so… as if the term bullet cam got taken literally due to a translation error with a design studio that doesn’t speak the same language as the client.
@thismyusername sure but bullet is not the first thing i see.
/giphy the rabbit
Meh close enough
waterproof to 10M sounds better than splashproof.
Yes. A bullet is totally what I thought of when I saw the shape of the camera. A bullet.
@peaceetc 5 by 8 inches? Yikes!
@sammydog01 Size doesn’t matter, right?
@sammydog01 Mehbe that’s after you rub it a bit.
I thought of buying one of these when they were on MorningSave, but if I’m going to get a knockoff GoPro, I decided I’d rather have one closer to the GoPro’s form factor. Meh.
@lljk I have an extra Nabi from meh I’m not using… Exact same form factor as a Go Pro…
@GLaDOS I love my Nabi. I used it for snorkeling videos.
Yesterday was a heater shaped like a speaker and today we have a camera shaped like a bullet. Tomorrow are we getting a knife shaped like a coffee mug or a quadcopter that doubles as blender?
@Tin_Foil what about a lawnmower?
@Tin_Foil before you know it they will be selling fans that look like animals… oh wait.
@thismyusername Hey, I bought those penguin fans!
@caffeine_dude Or a boat.
meh.

@eVil It worked! Your order number is: yawny-elegant-broccoli

I’m not touching that thing.
Film what you can, what you can’t you can.
Anyone know if these can do loop recording so it can be effectively used as a dashcam?
@pburkej There is a firmware download on he manufacturer’s site for this -> “A/S mode ON – Auto saving every 15 minutes per .MOV file (1.5GB)” . So if autosave mode is the same as loop, then yes.
These sample videos leave much to be desired.

@justbuyit lol - you have problems with that quality of video for $24??
OK.
Shit is shit is shit, regardless of the price.
This looks more like a vibrator than a bullet. Maybe a bullet vibe?
@inanna Real vibes plug into the wall.
@inanna For the ultimate in POV pr0n videos!
@sjk3 an introspective?
@sjk3 You’ll want to look into Svakom for that…
@brhfl Make sure you get a dimmer for that Hitachi, before you hurt a loved one.
@brhfl Thus is a steal at $24. The Siime (pronounced “see me”, get it?) is $180!

want dashcam
@f00l

@f00l You need to be more specific; otherwise we get more of the questionable shit like that unbranded mirror mounted one.

Ok looks like a micro sd slot. What is its limit and how long does that storage last? If I’m blind I’m sorry.
@jml326 read the amazon reviews in the link. More info
@jml326 According to mfgr website it’ll take up to 32GB. “It’s recommended to have a Class 6 speed card (MicroSD card) for reliability”
Oh, the thrilling videos of me walking from the sofa to the kitchen!
Faster than a speeding bullet more powerful than a speeding train – can you “picture” that?? Bullet you can’t …well meh be…
Hey Meh, your specs say waterproof to 10 meters(32.8084 feet) which matches mfg website, but your front page says water resistant up to 10 feet
Ummm Meh I found one on tango for $29.99. Is it the sameone? https://www.tanga.com/deals/6d0a48b8b53a/thermor-bios-bullet-1080p-action-camera-625fc?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=6d0a48b8b53a&gclid=Cj0KEQiA3Y7GBRD29f-7kYuO1-ABEiQAodAvwFFY5g5dMh9vudlgI58S_doiLfEXa-0KjZTmyoQoCC0aAkGq8P8HAQ
@Candiedisilvio1 Looks to be exactly the same, but cost $6 more over there.
These dimensions make no damn sense.
@jmkiii
BIOS for action? Looks like there’s still a little Amazon in ya there, Mehfolk.
60fps is hardly bullet time.
What is the battery life per charge? Does the recording go into loop mode?
So I wonder if the lady of the house will get crazy with it??? Maybe get some internal shots with it? Probably a bit hazy with a condom over it… I have got to get my mind out of the gutter. ( parallel-courteous-verse )
@bigtom67 Why let the ladies have all the fun, big guy?
Kinda sad I bought this a week or so ago at morningsave for more money
No mention of time lapse recording. Meh.

@RedOak

A: Both models come with rechargeable/removable lithium-ion batteries.”

I did not find any info on time lapse!
From the website:
Q: What kind of batteries do the action cams use?
A: Both models come with rechargeable/removable lithium-ion batteries.
Since this is obviously a low volume build, my guess is that it’s a standard battery that’s been repackaged or may be in a molded adapter.
Slow Motion: My mistake - they have interval-save firmware updates on the page: http://www.biosactioncam.com/downloads.html
that may be for people who use them in some dashcam functionality.
@Thinkerer I saw that last night, but it’s unclear if it will overwrite oldest files when card fills, or if it just stops.
I was all in on the price until I saw the videos on YouTube. What a piece of shit…I guess I’ll stick to filming with my one plus one camera for now…Still haven’t seen a camera except go pro black that can match it. Just have to keep it out of the water
Does MEH know what time it is? Does the east coast not participate in daylight savings time?
Someone forgot to adjust their clocks
Somewhere in a dimly lit subterranean Texas headquarters…
“It’s DST this weekend - should we adjust the clocks?”
“meh.”
Wow, let the whole world become my Gynecologist. Get accurate informed non medical opinions from total internet strangers…although once I’ve shared pics of my internal organs…can we really call ourselves strangers
@mzblue99 you could even avail yourself of the meh poll feature to get the “most likely” diagnosis free of charge…
or you can do home colonoscopies for colon awareness month
Got mine today, anyone know if the mounts are the same as what gopro uses? They look pretty similar in pictures.
how did I miss this?
I even missed it in the morning shave
Got mine, cant seem to get it to do anything but flash blue then red. Should it light up when charging?
@laidbackoh The blue then red then off seems to be the dance of “i have no memory card”. Mine does it and it’s currently without memory. It did light up green when i plugged it in to charge.
Looks like I got a bad power cord, no light. I Had one from a different product, now blue light, guessing it will turn green when ready.
@laidbackoh it turns off when charged (and mine is green when charging)
Tried several memory cards from 8 gig to 64 gig, can’t seem to get out of the blue, red light flash and off issue.
@laidbackoh have you tried holding it down for a few seconds to power it on? if you just tap the button it lights up, but to power it on or off you have to hold it down for a bit.
Got mine today. Will try various things and share some here. Honestly, the, er, x-rated internal idea is kind of hot… one of the girls might be interested in that…
Of ALL the things I really never wanted to see the deep insides of… that ranks pretty damn high.
