@Pavlov@yakkoTDI That is a big reason I don’t drink the stuff. Too $$$ for the Brief tingle it gives! then sometime you have to visit the Porcelain god “Ralph” & make offerings! Nope…
@xobzoo
My namesake PGF was an old Irish gentleman and for most of my life, I did not see him absent a dress shirt and tie.
When we had picnics or cookouts, he would have a plate made up for him by my PGM or aunt, and brought inside for him.
For unclear reasons, in about the last decade of his life, he gradually became more relaxed and might be seen in his t-shirt before he put on a [button-up] sport shirt, and would eat outside with the rest of us.
He was otherwise a sweet and generous, if somewhat reserved epitome of a gentle man.
@PhysAssist@xobzoo My father lived in Italy in the WW-2 era before coming to America in the 1950s. He would always put on nice pants and a dress jacket before going to town even if just to the grocery store. Not usually a suit and tie though. one of his friends was a tailor appropriately named Giovanni and he would drop by his shop just to talk in Italian for a while (his original language was Croatian but that’s another story). Then get a coffee and pastry at a local cafe/patisserie. He was glad to live in a place where there were elements of the life he enjoyed in Europe.
@IndifferentDude
We’re polish and make something kinda similar. I make them with cucumbers and onions and they’re very creamy from the sour cream. I don’t put dill in mine though like in the pic
@pmarin The recipe I use calls for Apple Cider Vinegar. It’s so D-Lish that I love to drink the leftover liquid when I finish the veggies!! Here’s a link to the very EZ recipe:

Fruit salad
Tater salad and then baked beans
@ragingredd Love that!
@ragingredd This is the way.

Inside.
Lest anyone thinks I’m serious: I actually like being outside. Mostly.
If I were to be hiding inside at a cookout, it’s either extreme weather or I’m just avoiding the people.

@tweezak Once again, the photo of one of my culinary masterpieces: bacon wrapped in bacon on a bed of bacon.
Cucumber, Onion & Tomato Salad!!
Here’s a pic of a batch I made. Makes me hungry for some NOW!!
@IndifferentDude Rice vinegar ? Seasoned or you season it yourself? The commercial ones tend to have too much sodium+sugar.

@pmarin I forgot to add I sometimes will use 1/2 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar and 1/2 Cup of Red Wine Vinegar; the combo gives it a nice flavor!!
@IndifferentDude add some feta and you’re in
Spud salad with a dressing that isn’t mustard-based, preferably one that includes crumbled bacon.

Pasta salad
@Star2236 My wife makes a delicious pasta salad with kalamata olives, red bell pepper and feta cheese. It’s always a hit at potlucks.
@Star2236 As long as it’s not made with mayo. Yes, apparently some people make it that way.
Guac and freshly made corn tortillas
