Beyond belief.
But they don't have one of these microwave poppers:
I bought, then returned one. It works well, but a.) it's orange, and b.) the silicone is floppy and hard to handle and to wash.
@KDemo If I want to make home made popcorn in the microwave I use a paper lunch bag. No weird orange silicon thing needed.
@remo28 - I've done that. It works too, but I worry about fire. I will probably go back to this method and just watch even more closely.
Am I the only one that sometimes feels that too many options = overwhelmed?
@narfcake I'm just kind of surprised that there is so much competition in the Salad Spinner category. It's funny to imagine how they brought it up in a meeting... "you know what could make us some green? Salad Spinners!"
@narfcake You're not- there's a book on it, and the issue has a name: "the paradox of choice".
@narfcake without all the overwhelming options to eventually fail, meh would have no inventory. :)
@Kevin Some green..good one!
@narfcake
@narfcake Not at all The Paradox of Choice has described that for over a decade.
How did I make it so far in life without a salad spinner & making popcorn in a frying pan?
I only count 4 kinds with different brands. Just saying.
I miss the old air popper with the little metal pan that slid in the side of the machine by the motor that melted the butter.
@StrangerDanger its on top now... and it's not only a butter melter, it's a popcorn scoop as well... oh presto.... http://www.amazon.com/Presto-04821-Orville-Redenbachers-Popper/dp/B00006IUWB
The one we have now is http://tinyurl.com/zjfgk3q. I love it. :)
@hollboll I have that one too. I researched it and everything. I was hesitant to buy one because the last one I had was in college. I hadn't used it for a while and we had roaches in the dorm. The popcorn it produced gave me nightmares. But now I eat popcorn again. Yay!
@sammydog01 I love this thing. We grew up having something like this so every time I get to use it, it's a bit nostalgic.
@hollboll We popped our corn over an open fire with a cast iron long handled skillet. You kids today had it way to easy.
@MrsPavlov it's a miracle you made it! ;P
@hollboll it's a miracle no one gave me shit for the missing 'o' in 'to' in my comment above.
@MrsPavlov Should you care to re-live that part of your life, Jiffy Pop is around to meet that desire.
Best ones also roast coffee.
"Coffee roasting perfection!"
@snapster
@carl669 I've used the fire extinguisher to crack walnuts before because I couldn't find the nutcracker and I didn't feel like using the pliers which were last used on the drain lines.
@snapster, for $73 I'm not going to stand there and stir the damn thing myself.
@MrsPavlov But would you do it for $22?!
@snapster Oooh, foreshadowing!
Meh. I'm holding out for 30.
I have the electric one with spinner at bottom. But I go to the restaurant store and buy the pre pack popcorn with salt/flavoring and oli all in the 3 part bag. Just cut it open and add it to the popper. Mmmmmmmmm
In absence of a real movie theater style machine (not the joke ones people put in their media rooms etc) I use a hot air popper. I like the Stir Crazy style as it can also make passable kettle corn but the air popper makes nice corn without the oil. Never melt the butter in the tray on top and there is a line in the popper for kernal level...hard to go wrong.
. . . and meh has one.
