I'm pulling for the Mets.
@jqubed let's go mets
Rangers all the way!!!
@stardate820926 - Rooting for you for rooting for your team ;-)
Hoping to see Cole over the Cubs in the WC tomorrow. That's all I can think about until after that game is over.
I don't care so much about the AL - I guess I'll go Houston because they are ex-NLCentral.
Hey you stole my thread. I was gonna post one of these today, too. Well done.
Also, Rangers and KC.
Dodgers and Pirates.
Rangers over KC.
Pirates over Dodgers.
Rangers in 6 and I get to be the happiest human that ever existed.
@MEHcus How about a replay of this?
@mediobarkre I don't think you understand the level of mad this makes me.
@MEHcus I'm assuming it's at least 1000 times more than what I'd had been had the Rangers gotten that 3rd strike. Just poking a little fun your way... Good luck to your Rangers. They're due!
@MEHcus Probably somewhere near this level of mad for me...
@mediobarkre I locked myself in a room for a week and threw my phone in a drawer after that game. Top 5 worst days of my life.
@MEHcus It was awful! To make it even worse, my brother in law is a HUGE Cardinals fan so we had to listen to him gloat for weeks. I really wanted to send his ass back to St Louis haha
@MEHcus @mediobarkre We were living in Sicily at that time, and the Armed Forces Network carried it. If I remember correctly, it was shown in the base movie theater. It was a very welcome diversion from everyday life, which was pretty grim that month.
@mediobarkre You are the devil. Worst personal sports moment for me of all time. Even worse than the blotched onside kick recovery from my Packers last year.
@MEHcus I'd love to see a Pirates-Rangers WS so I can see Gerrit Cole beat down the Rangers.
@phatmass Just pretend that I'm Robin Ventura.
@Foosh Yes! I'd be super excited for the Pirates to go that far! If they won, even better!!
@mediobarkre great replay
@MEHcus i was loving it.... go cards and the ralley squirrel
@mediobarkre Thanks a lot for this clip... I'm going to just keep watching over and over.
@MEHcus Go Rangers!
Hopefully Beltre isn't hurt too bad :(
I put $20 for the ROYALS to win the world series before the season started. Hoping to cash in $500 of winnings soon!
@TheAlmighty1 Congrats!!!
@pitamuffin Thanks! Now I'm figuring out what's the most fun I can have (legally) with $500
Let's go Mets! Although I know they will find a way to screw this up. (See I'm a true Mets Fan)
Lets Go Bucs!!!
Yankees fan here. Unfortunately I don't see us winning a Keuchel vs Tanaka matchup. We'd most likely be 1 and done for the series too but oh well. Go playoffs?
@denboy Maybe next year. CC could be back, better than ever.
@OldCatLady Totally. It's sad to learn how tormented he is but happy to know he's taken the important step of doing something about it now.
@denboy Sorry, but you were right about that Keuchel/Tanaka matchup.
@pitamuffin Yup, in 22 innings this season the Yanks didn't score a single run on Keuchel. He's our cryptonite. The bombers over achieved anyway so no biggie. Hope you have something left to cheer for.
Cubs! For the love of God, can the Cubs please win?! I so want my dad to be able to see that.
@pitamuffin I'd be okay with seeing them make a deep run
@DrunkCat Notice how the biggest spike was around '79 when the Pirates were in? We need them to get there again to save the sport!!!
@MrMark You need to start with 2015 play-in champs. Although with Jake on the bump you should be good. Jake helped make me buku bucks this year in fantasy baseball. Love that bearded wonder.
@denboy I have no horse in this race, so I'm rooting for Back to the Future to win.
Baseball is such a regional sport, people just really don't care unless their team is in it.
@MrMark Not true. I bite my fingernails during every Marlins game, but since they're out, I'll root against whichever team I dislike most. And of course, aw, poor Cubbies - they need to win.
@MrMark Go whoever!
Gotta get my votes in:
Yankees over Astros
Cubs over Pirates
Blue Jays over Rangers [in 5]
Royals over Yankees [in 4]
Cardinals over Cubs [in 5]
Dodgers over Mets [in 3]
Royals over Blue Jays [in 7]
Cardinals over Dodgers [in 6]
Cardinals over Royals [in 7]
@dave Jays going all the way. Can't believe you picked the Yankees, one of the worst teams in baseball in September.
@dave The division series is only 5 games btw
@denboy Ha! I picked the Yankees because honestly the Wild Card 1-off is pretty much a coin flip and the Yankees have more play-off experience (so I thought they'd be less spooked). But yes, already proven wrong there.
@MEHcus Oh right, I want them to change it to 7, but I forget that I'm not yet the commissioner. I'll edit.
@dave You're right that anything can happen in a single game, which I was hoping could somehow happen but alas, the Yanks are what they are. It'll be interesting to see how the Cards look in the new season.
I don't get into details of how many to win, here is my MS paint prediction from last night.
I am a Cardinal fan and I hope the Cubs succeed but I kinda want them to lose the wild card just cause I don't want to see the shit posting on facebook for the next 2 weeks. (Central Illinois problems).
@rileyper Obviously you are a Cardinal fan with that chart, but i am looking forward to a Met / Cardinal NLDS.
@rileyper It's funny, I feel like I can see the Cardinals fandom not only in having the Cardinals (my favorite team, too) go all the way, but in having our closest rivals advance in each match-up.
Cubs suck
@ragestuff
Normally i agree but they do have the 3rd best record in mlb this year.
@jml326 no exceptions!!
@ragestuff White Sox fan? Or Cardinals fan? It's gotta be one of those.
@pitamuffin Cardinals! I would like to see the Cubs win ONE just not this year....
@ragestuff Fair enough. Cubs/Cards coming up next -- gonna be a great series!
YAY CUBBIES! Blanked the Pirates 4-0!
Take me out to the ball game.
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks,
I don't care if I never get back.
Go Royals! @Pavlov, I hope you are at the game.
Go cards loving today's game.
@jml326 +1
Cubs still in it and looking strong -- fun times!
Last night was rough on me. That was by far the craziest one hour of baseball I've ever seen in my life. The Blue Jays team is fantastic, got to give them credit. But I'd be embarrassed if I was a fan of theirs today. They embodied classless yesterday. Sad to see that for the team.
@MEHcus That had to be the wildest game I've ever seen. On and off the field. The footage of a woman in the crowd covering her baby and crying, presumably in fear, was beyond sad.
@pitamuffin
@MEHcus What a way to end the season! I had to "watch" the game on ESPN's gamecast because I was at work so I don't know if they talked about it or not but I seriously think our guys were just rattled in the bottom of the 7th. I'm still bummed it's over though :(
@stardate820926 I've never seen one player drop 3 straight balls that would have been outs. Having to get 6 outs in an inning will never end well. Either way, great freakin season. Exceed my expectations by leaps and bounds and just shows me even more how great we can be next year when we're fully healthy.
@MEHcus As a supporter of the Jays, being that they are pretty damn close to my hometown, I was both thrilled and outraged watching the game. Good on the team though for telling the fans to knock it off while it was happening.
@MEHcus Ed Randall's book 'More Tales From the Yankee Dugout' has a chapter titled 'I went to a fight and a baseball game broke out'. This game was one for the books, too. Harold Reynolds' commentary was absolutely wonderful. If you didn't catch it live, it's worth searching for.
I went to the first playoff game for Dodgers/Mets. Had seats 11 rows up behind 1st--sat behind V from OITNB. I was happy that I left before the fighting began. It would have taken a heavy toll on my heart to have to punch V in the face.
CUBS all the way baby! (did not see this thread until today, have been a bit busy).
@cbilyak Agree wholeheartedly. We have already rearranged our lives around the game schedule.
@cbilyak @OldCatLady
¯\____(ツ)____/¯
@Lotsofgoats I don't know what that was last night, but it wasn't a baseball game. The Cubs had apparently just buttered their gloves and couldn't do a thing with them. Oh well, go Mets!
Mets!
Royals baby. I'm feeling a clinch at Kauffman tomorrow night, then a 6-game series with the Royals coming out ahead
Incredible game, met Laurence Leavy, drank way too fucking much. Got tired of listening to Tech N9ne and his idiotic business partner Travis O'Guin and complained to the right person and ended up watching the game from the owner's box.
Frankly, this ended up being an overall better experience than being in the stands for games six and seven in '85.
Going to be a great series.
@Pavlov Damn, dude. You got connections!
@medz Home base side dugout suite last night - wore my meh T-shirt under the Royals jacket. Drank way too damn much, again. Have a feeling they will wrap this in five so it may have been the final home game this year. Queto redeemed himself - thank the flying spaghetti monster. I get premium seats in exchange for a lot of video work we do for Aramark.
Sorry I misspelled Cueto - I'm still half drunk!
@Pavlov Wrapped in five, just like you called it. Congrats on the win!
@pitamuffin It wasn't pretty, but I'll take it - HUGE props to Matt Harvey. The Mets could have sent this back to KC if their bullpen was a bit deeper. Great games. Heartbreaking for a Mets fan, and I feel their pain. But right now, I'm getting ready for tomorrow's parade. The school districts (even rural districts surrounding) have closed for Tuesday and businesses all over town are declaring tomorrow a holiday - we're having someone (not a Royals fan) house sit / watch the neighborhood - all of KC is going to be at this rally - it is going to be nuts.
@Pavlov Have fun! Sure wish I could be there.
@Barney We celebrated today!
(Click the pic for larger image)
@Pavlov Nothing prettier than a "sea" of Royal Blue. One of our radio stations broadcasted the festivities at Union Station and of course I got to see video on TV, but I'm so jealous of you getting to be there in person.
I'm only a Mets fan right now by nature of living in Sunnyside but damn was that an exciting game. Even matches are always fun.
I was going to nominate @EricHosmer35 for November goat, but he redeemed himself.
well that was truly awful
mest all the way
also anybody calling Hosmer an amazing baserunner in the 9th is derp af or a Royals fan or both
@Lotsofgoats Yeah. Unlike that Colon guy from the Mets. Now that's a true athlete there!
@medz hey man I'm a Yankees fan and David Wells had a perfect game so shrugsnotdrugs
Yay, Royals! Wonderful season. Now it's time for KU basketball. Rock chalk, Jayhawk, go KU!
