Jellybeans, of course; makes perfect sense; gotta keep 'em safe.
And while you’re at it, this is a perfect size to pick-up, pack-up and go with. Or is it made of some incredibly massive material that makes it impossible to lift and leave with?
Ha! I keep all of my important papers, along with my lunch, in my highly secure briefcase. No one will know that I keep the combination at 0-0-0! It will thwart anyone who tries opening it.
These usually have a spec that says how many hours it can be in a fire but it’s not obvious what that is for this model. I’d assume it’s not really meant to keep stuff safe from a house fire then.
@cengland0 Considering the plastic buttons and pad surface would likely melt, I’d guess the fire rating is 0. Also without any insulation, even if the safe in general withstood the fire, any nonmetal contents would likely be damaged or destroyed.
@cengland0 I think on that class of safe, that it has a fire rating of 0. In other words, no fire protection whatsoever. Based on the thickness of the walls, it is doubtful that it would even survive a 10 foot fall in a non-descript parking lot… Just sayin’.
Any word on how good this is at fire protection? I’d buy it sure, but I’m less worried about people chopping off my fingers to get to my precious Social Scurity Card, and more worried about them getting to my kids birth cirtificates. Yes, yes, I know that they can be reprinted. But when I have a $100 safe (slightly under) should I be worried about fire?
@CyberneticAngel Thos is worthless in a fire - it has only thin metal walls. For a fire safe, look for one of those plastic ones that have an inch or so of insulation.
@kuoh Just curious why you sign your name when Meh does it for you? But what do I know - site doesn’t come with an appropriate MEHnual so it took me six months to figure out that hitting the stars meant I liked something and I still suck at posting images - as you can clearly see that below.
@WTFsunshine Just a hold over from the old BBS and 300 baud dial-up days. Even today, not all sites do it the same way, but I always have and likely always will.
Hey @woodhouse - did you test that thing with your (battle) axe being the resident axe expert? There should have been a photo of you doing that…based on your axe expertise…just sayin’ Missed opportunity. For shame meh writers LOL
Worthwhile part of an amazon review worth paying attention to if you buy this:
“The only weak point of this safe is that pesky learn button that Plagues most these types of safes. Its pretty much on the same spot on most of them and easily defeated by any one with a paperclip. All someone will have to do is manipulate the paper clip to push button so they can scan their finger print and open the lock box. That’s why i knocked off one star. However the good news is. This problem has a pretty easy solution. The button is being held in place by a single nut that is only finger tight. You can drill a 1/4” hole in a bottle cap and tighten it with the same nut. That way you can still access the button but it’s covered along all sides. Or what I did is there’s plenty of room in the battery compartment I simply relocated the button into the inside of the battery compartment since i won’t be using it each time I open the safe. And If the Safe were to lose the fingerprints scans while changing the battery it’s easily accessible. The biometric scanner works very well. Unless your fingers are wet. The keypad also works flawlessly. "
@mike808 I don’t know about the first video, but the other two demonstrate how spring loaded solenoid bolts can be defeated. This one features motorized bolts, which are locked into position via the gear train - not a spring.
@RedOak I would want to do a couple fingers each hand for me and a couple for my wife. Maybe the extra slots can be for guests who might need access to the safe during their stay…
@RedOak Don’t know how much they paid but I’m sure they figured the $94 would cover the cost of the safe plus shipping, plus any expenses such as packing, labels, employees, websites, and still have enough left over for profit.
@cengland0 (jacking up the heavy item price)… as would all online sellers with flat rate (or free/membership) shipping… or they would go out of business.
Isn’t this only as secure as the backup key that can always open it? If you can pick a lock, you can open this safe. The lock is behind the logo on the front I believe. It’s how hotels get into safes that people get locked out of.
@daveJay The key is above the scanner; see one of the last pictures.
As for security, you have the options of either picking the lock or guessing the PIN code. The PIN code offers up to 11 digits, but each digit is limited to four values. If you gave yourself a fairly generous five seconds per attempt, you could crack up to six digits in an afternoon - and just how long a PIN is the safe owner likely to use?
Biometrics is a convenience feature, not a security upgrade.

I’m a broke college student, what could I have that’s worth keeping in a safe? Meh!
@mdszy Your ramen, shampoo, & liquor.
Boom. Reviews are kind of Meh, the LAST problem you want when reaching for a gun.
Stay 'safe" after buying this - –
Finger your box for riches!
Different
Gotta buy a dozen of these to hold the pans we all bought yesterday. Yep, gotta.
Good for use as a fire safe?
@hojxs not a chance. Fire safes require a lot of thermal insulation to protect their contents.
@hojxs this. Wondering if it’s rated
Just what I need. Not even the Federal Government can get my fingers to read on the new machines. It would be super secure, wouldn’t it?
@charlie_tca Actually you can be compelled to apply your hand to a surface - provide a fingerprint to unlock any device. Your phone counts too.
Always use something you know -a password or PIN, not something you are or have, both of which the courts can and have compelled people to produce.
@mike808 I think his point is the live scan machines won’t pick up his fingerprints, so this safe likely wouldn’t either.
@Pantheist Toes?
I just use the complementary safe I got from my last hotel stay.
@Jetlag admitting to theft on the internet… Genius

@JT954 OOOh that’s a good one!

meh
@rjquillin It has mounting holes punched in the back and bottom - you are expected to bolt it down.
Ha! I keep all of my important papers, along with my lunch, in my highly secure briefcase. No one will know that I keep the combination at 0-0-0! It will thwart anyone who tries opening it.
@eeterrific is it under the bed? cause thats where mine is
@username
You keep it under the bed of @eeterrific?
@eeterrific what is a “briefcase”? A case that holds undies?
@username bolted down I hope
@madflack Doesn’t everybody?

Finally, a safe that I can open using only my fingers!
@awk how did you open your last safe?
@RedOak It was a Rim lock, I’ll let you figure out what he grabbed it with
Looks like even a kid could pick this up and carry it off. Maybe if it was embedded in masonry.
@lordbowen There are holes so you can bolt it down
@lordbowen PS missed the edit window - amazon Q&A says there are holes in the back and bottom so you can bolt it down.
@Kidsandliz Thanks, but pretty sure my landlord wouldn’t go for any bolting down. Or masonry embedding for that matter.
@Kidzandliz Would the landlord prefer you installing a wall safe?
@Yadsphere I am not buying one. I think you meant @lordbowen
@Kidsandliz Not necessarily true, my friend. I may buy one just for the lock and xplant it to one of my beefier safes.
@lordbowen you could always run a few thick cables though a bed frame. It’s not perfect but it stops a smash and grab
@lordbowen toothpaste… at least it worked when we drilled holes in the dorm walls.
Can I use other appendages though?
@awk You could try toeprints or an eyeball if you have a small head and can get it on the pad surface.

Just like staying at a moderately-priced hotel.
It’s a safe bet . . .
I’m holding out for the BioBidetMetricSafe with Bluetooth
@huja does it come with a speaker dock and backup knife?
@noonehere Well technically a bidet is a dock for your butt . . . I’m not sure how to safely incorporate a knife into the equation.
I’ve always wanted a safe to protect my Advil and contact lens solution. Always.
I’ve owned this safe for years & it’s always worked great. I have it mounted in my travel trailer for ‘valuables & weapons’.
@daveinwarsh valuables (meh pearls) and weapons (meh knives).
@daveinwarsh so what if they steal the entire travel trailer?
@RedOak I’d be angry.
I do install a hitch lock on the trailer if we leave, but really they are not very secure if you are determined to get in.
@RedOak Then the safe will be there still to really piss them off!
Sometimes i think Mr. Meh just puts shit up to stump the comments section. And to that I say, Good Job!
seems expensive.
i know Barska for my misaligned binoculars that i need to close one eye to look through.

Pour a Glengoolie Blue out for @Woodhouse.
@mike808 Yeah @woodhouse - the new customer service flask dude who is in love with axes. See https://meh.com/forum/topics/our-cs-family-is-growing?sort=most-likes

Or try this way.
@mike808 Or the Bic lighter trick…
@mike808 I don’t know about the first video, but the other two demonstrate how spring loaded solenoid bolts can be defeated. This one features motorized bolts, which are locked into position via the gear train - not a spring.
How many fingerprints can be stored by the reader thingy?
@tinsami1 reviews say 30
@tinsami1 do you think 30 is enough or would a few more be useful?
@RedOak 30 should be more than enough. I only have 10 fingers and 10 toes. That leaves me with 10 more for other body parts.
@RedOak I would want to do a couple fingers each hand for me and a couple for my wife. Maybe the extra slots can be for guests who might need access to the safe during their stay…
I don’t have facebook. i’m poor> I’m hurt. Is there a site where you can look at “your matches”, and see what they are buying?
if there isn’t an you make one, remember me.
But seriously, where is that gif from?
@PenguinOnTheRox Bollywood.
No really, where did you get that image?
@AmazingChicken This one?
Since it is not a fire safe, it is remarkably both flammable AND inflammable
@CraigDanger
You guys must be losing out on shipping costs here, safes are kinda heavy aren’t they?
@Twiminy They make up for it by charging $94 for the safe.
@cengland0 ha! Meh paid $19 for each of the safes by the pallet load, right?
@RedOak Don’t know how much they paid but I’m sure they figured the $94 would cover the cost of the safe plus shipping, plus any expenses such as packing, labels, employees, websites, and still have enough left over for profit.
@cengland0 (jacking up the heavy item price)… as would all online sellers with flat rate (or free/membership) shipping… or they would go out of business.
@cengland0 I think @snapster was like “I knew we forgot something!” after reading this.
How do you pronounce “Barska” ?
@jmbunkin https://www.howtopronounce.com/barska/
@cengland0 How about that !
So close. I needed a biometric drawer safe.

I will go buy a lock box at Wally World
This will just encourage thieves to cut my fingers off.
And, that tubular lock is not actually more secure than a standard key lock. http://www.itstactical.com/skillcom/lock-picking/a-beginners-guide-to-tubular-lock-picking/
Pass.
My wife says this is the kind they cut your finger off for to get in…
I’m looking for something that totally sounds like a Meh product. I want a Wi-Fi enabled safe that can be opened with a cell phone app.
@Fuzzalini with built in speakers and phone dock
@medz That would be epic. But no, it doesn’t need sound.
That dude is the Fonzie of safe cracking.
Baaaaahhhhhh, I just bought this on sale for $125 a couple weeks ago
What’s in the box!
/youtube
Well shit…I don’t know why that went up there twice but it still stands.
Is…is it made out of cardboard?
because it looks like it is made out of cardboard…
