hate to say it but this actually works pretty well. Quite cheap and not great quality. But the side trim thing is good IF you don’t use the spacer attachments.
Got this a few months ago. A few $ more. Battery seems to hold up OK. Which is a surprise from a Meh product! One warning is that even though it has a USB-C charging port, only use it with a USB-A to -C cable from a standard 5V USB charger. A simple cable is included. It refused to charge from a proper smart USB-C charger and cable; I think it does not ‘speak’ the USB-C protocol for charging.
@OutbackJon@pmarin yeah, the exact opposite of my S.O.'s pocket Canon monocular, which will only charge with a C-C cable and a PD-capable brick. (He mislaid the cable and brick that came with it once, and was very relieved to find that I had some kit that it was happy with.)
@pmarin Agreed, and I will go further and say that this product is far superior than the Panasonic body groomer of the same design. Panasonic was the first to come out with the wedge-shaped shaver head (which is critical for ease of use), but their version has cheap materials, a weak motor, and a terrible battery – honestly not what I expect from a company that makes excellent facial shavers.
This product is exactly the same design, but has better materials, better build, a better motor, and crucially, a better battery. Really my only problem with this product is the extremely juvenile branding. (I hate it when companies feel the need to lean into “dudebro” just because a product is aimed at men.)
@bugger@Trinityscrew Was going to say maybe it was “Meh Balls” but don’t want to unfairly critique anyone’s gonads, at least not without evidence of how Meh they are, and honestly would prefer not to view the evidence.
@joeygambino@pyroguy7 That’s a Ballsy charging base and included USB charging cord, which had become hot enough in unattended use to melt the plastic on the plug. The smell became noticeable before the Stage Two Alert Smoke was released.
@joeygambino@pyroguy7@werehatrack I did not try the base – just charged it by plugging in directly to the unit. As I noted it seems to only want “dumb” 5V charging which may be up to 2+ A, so potentially 10W of cooking power. Doesn’t seem to like “smart” USB-C chargers which would likely detect problems – so hmm, yeah, 10W through a bad connection in the base could definitely start to cook it. But perfectly safe to use around your balls.
“Waterproof design,” but no IPX rating given. Has anybody used this in the shower? My current grooming regimen lets that hair wash down the drain, and I wouldn’t look forward to sweeping ball hair from the floor…
@bugger@ophirf15 These reports are starting to remind me of a shaver that Meh had once Shortly after the only time I saw it up for sale here, I got an unopened one in an IRK. So I opened it up, figuring that I could at least use the trimmer - and that feature exploded into bits on the floor as soon as I hit the slide to flip it open. The shaving head itself was reported as being desperately snaggy. The brand name on the package and the brand under which they were being sold elsewhere online in the US was different. Meh’s version had briefly been sold in Mexico, to glowing-crater reviews. It was so awful that I e-wasted it, the unit was too useless to inflict on Goodwill.
