Bad or excruciatingly bad music videos
8Ok, all you bored people. Here’s something:
wouldn’t rickroll ya. Never.
—
So how about this one?
/youtube pat benatar love is a battlefield
Benatar can sing. She can perform.
But the vid … ouch. For I while, in the early day’s of MTV, I let the vids run the the background while I did other stuff.
When this one came on, I would watch in fascination: to see if it was really as bad as the previous time I watched.
Please share yours.

I like this song. It’s a sad song, but it told an interesting story and has a good beat.
Why they had to make this apparent mini-movie that doesn’t make sense to me…did he die? Why is he floating up to the ceiling? So many questions.
@therealjrn
That’s a serious piece of (narratively) vid junk.
@therealjrn
@eonfifty heh.
I don’t understand the cows…
@jst1ofknd
sweet dreams.
So, maybe, dream elements. Slightly surreal and random.
Where the cows might be a symbol of mundane normality? Or not?
I suspect a lit-crit or vid-crit could spin out some better interpretation of this
But … it’s the Eurythmics. Incredible song, even if the vid seems a bit off.
So all is forgiven in advance.
@jst1ofknd this video combined wit Culture Club videos (same timeframe) confused the FUCK out of me as a young child.
How could Annie Lenox be a WOMAN and boy George be a MAN. I was so very confused and did not believe whomever it was that told me. Had to call the local DJ, because clearly they are all knowing and can assist in these type of matters.
@jst1ofknd @tinamarie1974
Oh yes. You did right. DJ’s are the authorities in all things.
Glad you survived.

@f00l @jst1ofknd I like to think the experience made me a bit more open minded at a very young age.
@jst1ofknd
The Eurythmics are aliens who have found Earth, and the “these” of which sweet dreams are made are humans which they equate with cattle. Maybe?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey! rock superstars can do idiotic stuff and still be cool

There’s even a silent version if you need to keep the noise to a minimum:

@Nate311
That one was intended as “humorous conceptual art” maybe?
I really like this song, but I don’t understand the music video. Are they making fun if Christians, of a church, or the concept of church as a whole? Am I reading too much into this? I just don’t know.
@jst1ofknd
This one just seems super confused. And a /fail.
The song has the lyric “I’ve been praying hard”. Not particularly in reference to a specific religious activity, rather as a colloquialism.
And I guess the vid storyboard person or vid director didn’t know what to do with the song. Short of ideas.
So, threw in a random stylized “prayer meeting” as a visual element to fill our the song time.
Just a straight live or lipsynced performance would have been better than that.
This next one is so ick that it famously messed up Billy Squier’s career.
@f00l Absolutely the first video I thought of!
Never let those plastic eggs hatch. Trust me on this. And kids: Just say no to drugs.
And Hasselhoff. Music video.
brilliant and funny
@cattylaq He’s amazing
I’ve been known to opine that every video should start with someone ripping up a photo of Prince.
@tinamarie1974 I mean, I guess, but does it complete with the painfully literal visuals of Looking For Clues?
@mossygreen so it can get worse!!
(Thanks to @justbuyit from way back in 2015)
Maybe not bad, but definitely disturbingly weird:
