@gti87 Well, if you do a USPS flat rate box, you can do the postage yourself at home and save some money. Then take it before or after business hours to a post office with a package drop off. And flat rate boxes are free. Wait, you have to pay the postage but the actual box is free from the post office.

@gti87 In case you didn't know, you can drop off boxes at Staples (UPS at least). The UPS Store is also an option, and you can schedule pickups for a small fee.

@gti87 I just sleep with the FedEx guy. I don't have to leave the house to ship stuff and he ships it at his employee discount rate.

@gti87 I use my USPS shipping account to set up package pick ups and I don't have to go to the post office. They come to me.

@bluedog Mine works at USPS. I work there too but we do not get any discount. Only advantage is not waiting in line and knowing what the best way to go with USPS.

@DaveInSoCal excellent question. However, because they are clippings and not an entire nail, you need to accumulate clippings until they add up to the comparable size of your largest toe or thumb nail. Then and only then will it count as one of your items. I HAVE SPOKEN.

@Thumperchick Back in the day I did this. Even added a paragraph blurb about each person so they could be tailor made for each person. Most people didn't use them...more work than I wanted to deal with...fudge is good though, just sayin.

Not even sure i could really participate in this anyway as i have literally 0 moneys to pay for shipping to anywhere with (though i've got a lot of junk and boxes). I just get a sad whenever i see interesting things like this that are "US Only" when we're right next door.

I am unemployed and homeless (well I guess not technically as I am in someone's basement sharing the space with the furnace, water heater, washer and dryer)… sending in things that didn't sell in my garage sale (not to worry - this is the stuff I kept, put in the storage unit and didn't throw out)… not only that, my stuff has to be light weight as I have no money for expensive postage. I think, as others said, look at the last one - no need to go to the store to buy anything.

@smoo99 I think most people are looking for fabulous junk, weird and wonderful more than pricey. I also think a significant proportion of people are more excited about sending stuff out than receiving (myself included).

@lisaviolet I have a calico who looks very similar to the one grooming itself in your cat cam right now. Mine is on my bed purring her little heart out. Poor baby is sick (almost 14) and probably not long for this world (losing weight, won't eat, force feeding and the vet can't find a reason - more tests Monday for my poor baby).

@mossygreen i was on the fence, but that's what tipped the scale for me. It's a net-zero crap proposition. With any luck, i'll end up with a little less, and maybe someone will get some use or laughs out of stuff that's otherwise just lying around.

@Kidsandliz I hate it when they're sick and the vet can't find a reason. The usual disease here in their mid teens is kidney failure. I hope they find out what's wrong.

@lisaviolet Monday is blood work and x-ray. Started out violently throwing up then with a small amount of blood and pooping blood, not eating - so did antibiotic and anti nausea. Violent throwing up stopped, still needs force fed, lost .6 pound since the 5th when we were last at the vet about this (she was down around 3.5 pounds since summer most of it since mid October - I thought some of the not eating much was the stress of moving into a small space in my friend's basement since this is a cat who does not do change well). Good thing I sold my canoe (didn't want to but oh well, that is what being broke results in) - was to go for part of health insurance in January, instead I just should have taken the canoe to the vet and given it to her… I suspect something bad is wrong. Suggestions as to what to feed her besides a/d canned with a bit of water added so I can get it in the syringe? (she still throws up some of that on occasion but not nearly as much as she was vomiting).

@Kidsandliz She's pooping, so there's no blockages. If the blood in her stool is bright red, then it's most likely an irritation in her lower bowels. The blood in her vomit could be from vomiting - throat irritation. Does she try to eat anything on her own or do you have to force feed her to get anything into her? Cats can quickly go anorexic and that could damage her liver. Have you been given any appetite stimulants for her? As for food, if she'll eat anything on her own, try deli meats. Or KFC (pull the coating off). For the syringe, meat baby food. Make sure it doesn't have garlic or onion in it, though. Those aren't good for cats. I hope you get some good news Monday.

@lisaviolet Initially she was eating a bit on her own, now I am having to force feed her - trying to get at least 2/3 of a can of a/d into her. Am mixing water in so she isn't dehydrated. No appetite stimulant given. Anti nausea (which she tries to spit out - it must taste nasty) which helps. Most of the violent vomiting has stopped. But she has vomited bile, white foam, sometimes what I have fed her.

@Kidsandliz Get some slippery elm to add to her food. That might help her feel a little better (http://www.littlebigcat.com/health/slippery-elm/).

@lisaviolet bad news from the vet. My kitty is dying. Vet figures maybe a few more weeks, perhaps more if she ever starts eating again on her own without an appetite stimulant which isn't doing that much good… I hate this stage of life in kitties and I have 2 more her same age.

@Kidsandliz Oh, honey, I'm so very sorry. I'm so sad the news wasn't more optimistic. At least you know that you've given this kitty the best life she could have had. Once again, I'm so sorry.

@Teripie One of my good friends tells me you can ship a pallet of stuff for generally about $70-80 using LTL freight. (Which is pretty good considering the weight can be much more than any normal box could be).
