Autocorrect issue
3Does Autocorrect just straight up not work when composing replies on this forum for anyone else? It works fine when composing a new thread message, but just quits completely for me when replying. It only happens on Meh, and has been like this on every mobile device I have used. I find this very odd and I wish I knew what causes it.

Auto-correct or do you mean auto-complete?
My phone’s autocorrect works fine in replies. It’s an Android phone.
@mike808 Whichever one tends to fix typos I make as I’m typing them. It does screw up, but on the whole makes typing more efficient for me. All devices have been Samsung Galaxy line phones, currently an S9+
I’m not sure my android has that ability. Settings I can change are: Predictive text, suggest emojis, suggest stickers while typing, auto replace, auto spell check, auto capitalize, auto spacing, auto punctuate, and text short cuts.
Predictive text: While I’m typing, words it thinks I might want appear on the top of the keyboard and I can either continue typing my word or choose one of the suggestions.
Auto replace: Almost the same as Predictive text but will insert the rest of the word in the sentence as I type and I can just hit space to accept the chosen word.
Auto spell check: As I type a word that is not in the dictionary, it will underline it in red. If I click on the word, it will provide a list of suggested words it thinks I might have wanted and I can simply click on one of those words, keep what I have, or make my own edits.
The phone never automatically changes a word without asking me. If it did have that feature, I would try to find the setting to turn that off immediately.
@cengland0 Are you using the phone’s keyboard or are you using Gboard? That could be the difference. Or your ancient version of Android. That’s what Gboard might help with.
@mike808 I definitely do not use Gboard. The built-in Samsung keyboard has 4 rows of keys plus the space bar row with comma, period, search, and the symbol key. I type numbers enough that I demand to have a dedicated number row that’s always there without me having to go into a number mode.
Edit: After looking at it in the play store, I see it does have the feature to add the number row. (enable in Settings → Preferences → Number Row). But still, if it only gives me autocorrect, I don’t want that feature.
Autocorrect sicks duck.
I will let autocorrupt suggest things, but I will not let it replace anything without my explicit action to make it so.
@werehatrack

/image make it so
Autocorrect and spellcheck make me unreasonably angry! Let me make my own damn mistakes. Plus for a while I was getting grammar checks and they were almost always just plain wrong!
I don’t mind predictive text - although sometimes it baffles me why it suggests a more unusual word than the one I’m typing.
@Kyeh Your predictive text gremlin has sesquipedalian proclivities, perhaps?
@Kyeh @werehatrack
or maybe it just likes big words…
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Kyeh @werehatrack
Are the two of you secretly messing with my phone and acting as my predictive text gremlins?
/giphy gremlins

@f00l @werehatrack
Yes - we made you say that.
@Kyeh @werehatrack
OK, next time you take over my communications, pls make me sound like a totally charismatic super-genius.
@f00l @werehatrack
Oh, but you already do.
@Kyeh @werehatrack
But …
/giphy Moar!!!

@f00l @werehatrack The gremlin really reminds me of my sister’s goofy little dogs, so I googled “gremlins look like Japanese Chins” and I learned this!
