Never seen anything other than static in any of the the "magic eye" images I've seen. But then again my right eye is almost totally useless thanks to a recent sudden and severe onslaught of glaucoma that didn't get caught in time. But even before that, I never saw anything in those. I guess I must have poor depth perception or something, although oddly enough, I never really thought of myself as having poor depth perception (i.e. I never stumble/crash into things while walking around, etc., except of course when I am drunk.) It's for this very same reason that 3D movies and VR gaming helmets just don't do it for me.
I remember being in elementary school, squinting at those Magic Eye books and trying for weeks to be able to figure them out.
Finally, one day, something in my brain just "clicked" and I could make out the 3D pictures with 100% clarity. I immediately flipped through the entire book, ooohing and aaahing at all the cool 3D images. I felt like a complete badass and bragged to about it to all of my friends who couldn't see the pictures. I thought it was awesome how you could make 3D scenes pop out of a book with no special glasses or anything.
To this day I still feel bad for people who never could see these pictures. They were my favorite part of the 90's.
@jimmyd103 don't feel bad...i NEVER Could during the craze. Infact the ones in this thread are the first time i've EVER been able to see a magic eye thingy..except for that red one up top... getting nothing there...
uggggghhhh irk
I think Irk lacks depth perception, thus rendering him unable to see the sailboat.
@Thumperchick It's a schooner!
@BillLehecka Relax your eyes, Willam
@medz I see what you did there.
@medz Viewing on a computer screen is hard, maybe the tablet would be easier but when these were all the craze it took no time to see the hidden image
@Foxborn yeah these aren't very good.
@medz I was starting to think that when the Dolphin below jumped out at me

@Dankk I sea what you did there.
@Dankk What is the porpoise of it all?
The secret to seeing the images is you have to focus your eyes on a point beyond the actual image.
And the only positive thing about getting older and losing my previous perfect vision, is that I can now quite easily see those magic eye image.
No, sorry, they just don't exist.
Irk,
A couple things and one more question
and yes for all you Mallrat people, there is a sailboat in the video...
@fishzine That's really neat! I can't watch more than 30 seconds at a time without my eyes hurting, though.
@fishzine Super cool!
Here you go.
@dunda hmm, it doesn't seem to display correctly when embedded here. Use this: i.imgur.com/iUzJnhi.jpg
@dunda meh. I give you points for purple.
You said keep your eyes out of focus, which is misleading. You want DEEP focus!
@Starblind the image is out of focus to a point stuff overlaps and makes an image
@medz I was quoting Mr Pitt :)
I don't see the image in any of them!

Just to update this for Irk:
I had never been able to see a Magic Eye until this Vox video explained it to me last week:
