Did mine last weekend. The company I work for has this fun little trick they like to pull where they technically send me my W-2 by the date they're supposed to, but it's wrong, and then some time around the beginning of April, they send out a Corrected W-2 which is right. Good trick, guys, good trick.
@Bandrik Actually not everyone, most Euro countries pay a flat tax directly deducted from pay. Unless you have creative accountant (and a lot of money) you are paying your share. (just like us in North America) however the average Joe does not need to "file" every year as its automatically deducted from each pay check!!!
Did mine last night. I was putting it off because a I made a mistake involving the Health Care Marketplace that I was pretty sure was going to cost me a couple thousand dollars, but instead just resulted in a smaller refund. So that's cool.
@dannybeans you do know that the refund is already your money? It did cost you more money, even if you didnt feel the additional pinch of it out of your daily budget...
@jaybird Yeah, I know that's how it works. But I find I'm a much happier person if I don't look at it that way. I'd much rather say "yay, extra money" in the spring than fret about not getting it earlier in the year. (In fact, I have my employer take out a little extra every week for precisely that reason.)
Besides, going into this expecting to have to shell out a couple grand and coming out of it still getting a refund is worth it.
Done except for implications of 1 stock transaction: Tim Horton (Canada) 'merging with/taking over' Burger King (US) for corporate tax avoidance. Filing an extension to figure out the tax impact of my (former) 100 shares of Timmy's. It's complicated
Stayed up all night. Slept a couple hours this am, and then back to it. Then the newspaper arrived, and I learned they aren't due until Monday. I remembered hearing about that before, but forgot. :P Some bogus holiday in DC.
But actually it's a good thing ! I am going to take a break and finish up tonight, then it's out of the way. Besides, almost done. This is actually an amazing feat , as I usually file an extension and then get that in just under the wire in October.
E-filed my Federal last week, dropped off my state last night. I was perturbed that my Federal return will be $360 less this year, than decided all was good as the reason for it was that I made about $7,000 more than last year. Seems like a fair trade.
Yes, and there was a new and interesting feature this year. At least, it was new to me. If you bought H&R Block Tax Software from Amazon, and if you got a tax refund, you had the option to have some or all of it issued as an Amazon gift card, in which case H&R Block gave you a 'bonus' Amazon gift card in the amount of 10% of your Amazon gift card. Prudently, the cards will only be issued when the IRS issues your refund. For people who regularly buy off Amazon, this is worthwhile.
We have until April 30th to file.
@curtise Same shit, different day. You'll get to April 30th and I can say I have another 350 days or so to procrastinate! =P
JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT MY FUCKING TAXES! SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!
No.

Done. Refunds cashed. Re-spent my own money.
Let the Circle of Life continue.
Yes, I filed my tax return in mid-March.
But then, I got a 1099 correction, which is annoying because it means I now need to file a 1040X.
I already paid mine quarterly, just need to file the actual returns. I'll file an extension so ask me again in October.
(Like others I also tend to get a lot of annoying 1099-related corrections at the last minute, so I prefer to wait a bit).
Why put off until tomorrow what I can do next week?
I spent my refund over a month ago.
I did them last night. I became sick from doing it.
Actually, quite literally. In the two hours it took to go through everything, I began having symptoms of the common cold. I still have them today.
Fuck taxes. They make people sick. Everyone must do them, thus they endanger everyone! Public health hazard #1 and should be abolished!
lol gop mindset

Did that at the end of February. Waiting on NYS to get their budget handled so that they'll send our refund back.
Weeks. Try months. Spent that refund before it even came in(again months ago.)
Q: Are your taxes done?
A: Fuck.
Done except for implications of 1 stock transaction: Tim Horton (Canada) 'merging with/taking over' Burger King (US) for corporate tax avoidance. Filing an extension to figure out the tax impact of my (former) 100 shares of Timmy's. It's complicated
@compunaut double double complicated
The wife did the federal taxes. The states still need to be done. But that'll be tomorrow.
The taxes are done, just waiting to see how many sales we make this weekend before we know how much we'll need to pay in installments.
Meh.

i don't know why you guys are so late. imma pretty sure i did mine back in 2011.
@no1 I think you have to do them every 4 years or something like that, so you may want to check.
@MrMark
Not once a decade? Shit.

@OldCatLady They offered a slightly different version last year. 5% bonus if you had the cheapo software, 10% bonus with the more expensive versions.
@cinoclav Same terms this year. Last year I had bought the physical version.
Of Course. They were Finished and submitted Feb. 1st
