I’m not full size candy bars but I fix up baggies of all the good stuff. usually something not sweet like cheesy poofs, some kind of chocolate, something fruity like skittles or starburst and a lollipop and/or gum.
@Pony That’s currently my situation, the few neighborhood kids that used to come around grew up & the new ones don’t bother. Thank sweet baby Jesus I don’t have to hide anymore!
We never got trick-or-treaters as apartment dwellers, and it took us nearly two decades to be able to afford a home for our family, so my spouse and I agreed we’d make up for some lost time and be the house with the full-sized candy bars.
We’re the house that’s decorated like a move scene. We participate as characters from the show. We sometimes has interactive games. We give out bags of mixed candy treats and non food treats so kids with allergies can get stuff that they can enjoy.
Two years ago I went all-out with candy, but a pair of kids who don’t live in my neighborhood went around dumping the contents of all the self-serve bowls in a large trash bag. Caught on Ring cameras doing it. So no more self-serve candy for me. I will go back to not answering the door or leaving. Sad that they ruined Halloween for others.
I’ve been all of the above at various times in my Halloween history. The kids don’t bother coming to the boonies anymore, so I’m free! What’s the Halloween equivalent of Scrooge’s motto? I guess I’ll go with, “Boo humbug!”
My next door neighbors are a weird family. And here’s one example.
Each year on Halloween they turn their porch light on but refuse to open the door. I usually sit out front to hand out candy so I let people know not to bother if they try going up their walkway.
We don’t get trick or treaters, I have full size bars for the event that some do stop by. We used to have little kids next door and I would make little (I wouldn’t call them little bc they were loaded and overflowing) bags of all kinds of Halloween stuff. I just did it for my nephew and nieces. They got Halloween cups, juice boxes, snacks, candy, spider and bat rings, Halloween sparklers, haloweeen socks, glow sticks, glow wands, slap bracelets, necklaces, coloring books, toys, crafts and books. So much Halloween stuff jam packed into bags it looks like I’ve robbed the Halloween store.
There are some 1300 people here. And I’m not in town. A mile up the hill walking on the side of busy state road then only 4 houses a mile down the road. Not happening. I mean if someone showed up there’s some candy around. Lol. If anything thing the nearest neighbor across the street has kids /people over. Might get them to come on their way to where the actual score is. Not that there’s rich people here but old people. Or go to town for 10 miles over
I would love to be THAT house. I guess it’s a good thing we’re not in a traditional neighborhood because I would absolutely have the giant skeleton erupting from the roof. Sadly we get zero trick or treaters and have to go to a neighborhood of friends or family to participate.
/showme An amazing mansion fully decked out for Halloween more than anything anyone has seen before
I’m none of those houses.
I’m out walking around the neighborhood with my kids.

We live in a rural area. We don’t get trick or treaters.

@Pony same here.
@Pony I’m in an apartment building that is in a business district. No trick or treaters here either.

As others have mentioned we live outside of town and in 35+ years I’ve never had a single trick-or-treater.
Mmmaaayybbeeee. I don’t go crazy w decorating, because you have to eventually take it down and store it somewhere.
However, the treat options at my house are on point. This year so far
Kids can take what ever they want, as much as they want because, why not!
