Appetite for Apathy (November 2018 Scapegoat Blame Thread)
16Oh @jst1ofknd, there was a several hour span earlier this month during which you didn’t post even once. This lack of posting every hour on everything cannot stand!
We require your comments! @mediocrebot uses them for sustenance and it keeps him out of the communal candy dish.
Accept your blame accordingly.

I read ‘communal candy corn dish’. Blame!
@OldCatLady
I accept blame that it wasn’t candy corn. That would have been apropos.
@shahnm
I accept.
Welcome to the club, fucker.
Just wait until the 7th. Gird yer loins.
@mike808
What happens on the seventh?
@jst1ofknd @mike808 Election Day. There will be plenty of blaming, one way or t’other.
@compunaut @mike808
From this point on I’ll be in training… I accept blame.
@mfladd
Is that a cornucopia of blame?
@jst1ofknd @mfladd Not quite, but this is.
@jst1ofknd @mfladd @mike808 Good lord that’s a lot of blame!
@jst1ofknd @mfladd @mike808 One might say that is a candycornucopia.
Blame. It’s November.
@TheFLP
I accept blame for another day coming and that day bring another month.
Blame: I got our kid a onesie yesterday and she likes it so much she is threatening to wear it out in public. Of course I can put my foot down and squash that but still. I know some will say, “oh, a kid in a onesie is cute in public.” Yes, a 3 year old in a onesie is cute but not a 12 year old who is taller than me. Then it is just lazy.
Small item but blame nonetheless.
@tnhillbillygal
Just apologize to her for me. Let her know it’s my fault that she can’t wear the onesie in public as it’s my turn. I think I would look great in a onesie!
/giphy adult onesie
@jst1ofknd @tnhillbillygal
So who do we blame for this adult onesie/romper?
Remember, they wouldn’t make it if people didn’t buy it. $80 and it can be yours to wear!
@mike808 No - if they make it and people don’t buy it then it ends up on meh for a lot less…
@jst1ofknd @mike808 @tnhillbillygal That’ll be particularly interesting when the guy wearing it takes a leak…
@mike808 @shahnm @tnhillbillygal
I accept blame for this.
Blame, multipart:
@mollama
Five hundred kids? That’s no neighborhood, it’s a whole freaking school.
@mollama
I accept blame for both parts.
@TheFLP yup, we were a bit surprised. We live in a dense neighborhood so I had 6 bags, but I had not thought about the apt complexes 5 blocks away and across a 4 lane road. Neighbors told us later that a lot come from there. I had to run to the store for more candy while the spouse handed out granola bars. So I bought enough to avoid that happening again…
Blame: I’m behind on writing work and on housework. Had family stuffs going on yesterday and this morning and now there’s this whole internet thing that distracts me…MUST WORK!
@tnhillbillygal
Sorry about that.
ARGH ARGH ARGH ARGH
RAIN! BLAME!
@TheFLP
Rain something something plain something something spain… Oops. Got that wrong and made it rain for you… My bad.
@jst1ofknd
It was raining pigs and cows last night — you gotta be careful which buttons you push.
Blame for all of the Mehtizens that plan to vote to goat me.
If elected, I promise I’ll be less active and more apathetic about it than last month’s goat, for which there is blame for both you and whoever it was that was goat last month.
Blame for the tyranny of the majority to ram goats through, just like the Republican Senate.
Pre-blame if I am goated under such tyranny.
@mike808
I accept blame, but you must realize that this is anti-campaigning and it will backfire on you and you will be goat?
It will, of course, be my fault - that is until it isn’t.
@jst1ofknd What about @AlexJones for goat?
Suggested only as a thinly veiled supplicant using a sacrificial goat.
@mike808
I’d be okay with that. @AlexJones doesn’t do enough accepting blame.
Blame: I’ve been Wooting for 10 years now.
Unblame: It’s not really your fault. Who’s the scapegoat here from 10 years ago anyway?
Neutral: I’m pretty sure I do
n’tneed another catshirt on this Caturday.https://www.teeturtle.com/products/book-nerd
@narfcake
I am not sure how to respond to an unblame…
/youtube all I can say is you’re welcome
@narfcake
Blame: It’s 1:59 am Eastern.
Blame: It’s 1:00 am Eastern.
And would the Central, Mountain, and Pacific time zones please chime in accordingly.
@TheFLP Well, I thought it was 1:06 Central, but I guess it’s 12:06 instead?
@TheFLP bars close at 2.
/giphy One more hour to party.
@compunaut
See, I can’t even do the math right.
@TheFLP It’s 1am. I’m not staying up until it’s 1am again.
@TheFLP
I would have replied for central time, but I was asleep enjoying the extra hour.
Blame. It is 325 8n the morning and I had to take my after surgery Oxy and the pain isn’t letting me sleep.
So… 325 blame, no sleep blame… pain blame…
@JnKL Hope your pain pills kick in and you recover quickly from your surgery.
@JnKL
Are you doing better this morning?
@jst1ofknd better. Need sleep though. I was sorting laundry and it turns out that is too strenuous of an activity. Now I am back in my recliner.
@jst1ofknd thanks for asking.
Big-time blame because it’s 4:00 AM and I need to be up at 5:30. Another extra hour wasted.
Blame! Blame for this:
Blame: it’s election day so I am sitting at the local poll from 7 am until around 8:30 pm. Granted, I get paid for sitting here but it is still boring. Hopefully the meh forums will be super entertaining today.
@tnhillbillygal
I missed this yesterday. My fault twice.
I had fun with the people at my polling place. I told them I had so much fun I wanted to vote again.
They told me to cause trouble somewhere else.
@jst1ofknd @tnhillbillygal It was two-for-Tuesday, so all mehmbers should have been allowed to vote twice. Blame!
@OldCatLady
I agree completely!
Blame: My kids are entirely too busy this month. It is mainly just the one who is in a community play that requires practice 3 times a week and piano once a week but this week she has another class that meets once a month. It is all over early December and our lives should go back to boring but I don’t like having things on the schedule. She is having a good time and getting some great experience being on stage and with new people so I guess some un-blame can go with this as well.
@tnhillbillygal
Sorry for the busy schedule and going back to boring.
I got an email from a dog today.
My annual Moviepass subscription is over at the end of the month. Chloe thinks I should keep paying. I don’t know what to do.
@sammydog01 Lady loves to spend my money, too.
@sammydog01
Sorry for causing you indecision…
I do enjoy the fact that the dog can’t talk, but apparently types well.
@jst1ofknd
“Hey Chloe, Venom is on your list of covered movies for today, it’s playing at my theater, but your app says there are no more screenings at this theater today. What gives?”
“Ruff ruff”
Fucking dog.
Dear Chloe, you let me see Venom after all. Sorry for calling you names. Who’s a good girl?
/giphy dog treat
@sammydog01 Post a movie review
@compunaut It started out really slow and then Venom stuff happened and it was full of action and fun and Stan Lee showed up. The end.
I blame the Goat … because I can.
Also, because I just got an email confirmation for an insurance premium payment from 12/1/2017. Like, it was this close to being an entire freaking year late.
(ಠ_ಠ)
@TheFLP
Insurance sucks. My bad.
@jst1ofknd
And now that I think of it, this explains why my 1095 looked like I had no insurance in December. Some dimwit misplaced it.
@jst1ofknd
Now I’m just disappointed:
Another great theory let down by reality. Plus it sounds like I wasn’t the only one, unless they have some kind of automatic “Well this is awkward” (actual words) system that kicks in anytime someone pushes the wrong button.
No rain today, but the dog slobber remains.
Rain! Wet dogs! Dog slobber!
BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMEE
@TheFLP
Sorry. I thought you could use the rain. Guess I was wrong.
First snow of the season today. Now I can’t use my leaf blower.
@mike808
Now it’s a snow blower!
@jst1ofknd @mike808
Snow blame snow blame snow. Blame.
Blame: Item from Amazon is missing a part.
Unblame: It’s Amazon. It’s taken care of.
Blame: Item from Woot was defective.
Unblame: It’s Woot. It got taken care of too.
Blame:
Oh wait … I like catshirts. Fine, have an unblame instead.
Blame for people that don’t like to do interviews over email. I have to go to an office later this week to do an interview that I’ve already emailed the questions to the person for. In most cases, people are relieved that I send the interview via email. It really is the best option for both parties as I don’t have to jot down notes that I can’t read after I’m done (yes, I do use a recorder most times but I still have to take notes during the interview) and the interviewee gets the chance to actually think about what they want to say and even run it by others before I get it.
@tnhillbillygal you’ve obviously never interviewed for a contract tech position and the person that shows up has no clue because they got a friend to answer the email questions and sent in another person’s resume with their name and info on top.
@mike808 I was talking about interviews I have to do for writing assignments. I would absolutely expect to interview for a job in person
@tnhillbillygal
It’s my fault they want the pleasure of your company and decided to ignore your e-mail to get it.
Blame because I decided to take a nap before dinner yesterday and woke up at 4 am.
Unblame because it was an awesome nap.
More blame because I was the last one to post in this thread two days ago.
What the hell, was everybody taking a nap around here?
@TheFLP Real life > meh life.
(That’s a blame, @jst1ofknd.)
@narfcake @TheFLP
Yep. My fault. I brought meh life down so much that real life is better…
My iPad’s cell data connection stopped working today, so my commute was narrated by Robot Siri.
I figured I’d run out of data — my plan renews tomorrow — but Verizon says I have 56% left. Rebooting the iPad seems to have fixed it.
Blame because I found myself missing Siri 2.0’s personality. “Start on the route!” didn’t have the right tinge of panic to it.
@TheFLP
Ummm… This is the first time I’ve felt trepidation over accepting guilt. I don’t like Apple. Never have, never will…
But… I must as it is my mehvic duty.
@jst1ofknd
Yes, you must accept all blame — you can’t be choosy. Besides, I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that Verizon caused it.
@TheFLP
Sigh…
Then I accept blame for the apple disaster (meaning when that product was chosen over an Android device).
@jst1ofknd
Nope, that’s an unblame.
And we decide what’s blame-worthy, eh? You can’t just go around making up your own blame. There’s plenty enough of it as is.
@jst1ofknd
My internet is back but I’m still being visited by Robot Siri.
On the other hand I’m home early, so I’ll call it a marginal unblame. Happy Thanksgiving.
I haven’t decided whether this is a blame or unblame:
https://www.teeturtle.com/products/crazy-cat-underwear
@narfcake
Umm… If only they were boxers.
@narfcake if those were all irks instead of cats it would be a blame
@CaptAmehrican @narfcake hmm don’t give meh any ideas
@CaptAmehrican @Kidsandliz I highly doubt it’s going to happen here, for better
or worse.@narfcake
Blame: if preowned.
Unblame: if new.
@mfladd They’re new. The pic links to the page on TT.
Blame: Carbohydrates are delicious. (I almost just put carbs but knew someone shifty eye look around would ask why I was commenting on the taste of carburetors.
@tnhillbillygal Now eating carburetors - that would be a gas.
@Kidsandliz @tnhillbillygal Cue Blondie’s Rapture …
Blame: I just bought a safety gate extension that was completely unnecessary. That $0.04 could have paid 80% of the way to something else completely useless – like an expire calendar!
Unblame: It’s steel tubing. I’ll find something useful to do with it.
Unblame: It ships 2 day via Prime too.
@narfcake
I accept.
Blame: Now Amazon thinks I need stuff like cat flaps.
/image cat flaps
As if I’d install a door flap to let cats
outin.https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2245860/amp/Milo-magnetic-cat-burglar-collared-pilfering-20-sets-keys-neighbours.html
@narfcake
You’re welcome.
@narfcake That cat’s coloring is seriously unusual.
@narfcake wonder what keeps the skunks and opossums out?
Blame: I managed to get zero BOCs and zero items from CAH.
Unblame: I managed to get zero BOCs and zero items from CAH.
More unblame: It’s 11:30pm PST and I actually went the whole Black Friday without buying anything, in store or online.
@narfcake I did well too. I only bought one deal from amazon for $10, but I had a $10 Marlboro GC credit.
Otherwise, I paid only slight attention to the wOOt-off, and speed auctions, like CAH, while interesting, really get me annoyed after a bit.
I’d blame you for the rain (again), but I personally don’t have to be out in it. So it’s more “meh” than blame.
I will blame you for whatever’s making my eyes itchy, though. That one’s non-negotiable.
(Or should that be non-negoatable?)
@TheFLP
That’s one for the mehtionary
Unblame: I just bought a BOC.
Blame: I just bought a BOC.
Blame: home internet has been out all morning. No reports on when it might return. Data on phone just isn’t cutting it.
@tnhillbillygal
Yep. I did that.
Blame: some of the threads here right now.
Blame: I got the bright idea to start a keto diet at the beginning of November. I did really well for the first three weeks but now I’m bored of meat and cheese. I really want cereal and rice, lol. I’m hoping a trip to sam’s club and some different meats being brought in will help with the variety issue. Cooking regular meals for three other people in the house doesn’t help and makes it even harder. I don’t plan on staying with it forever. Once I hit my goal weight, I plan on re-introducing carbs but staying at the same calorie count. All your fault I’m sure @jst1ofknd!
@tnhillbillygal I could eat meat and cheese all day, everyday. In fact I do eat cheese everyday. If good meat was cheaper I would do that too!
@mfladd by drawing our attention to this post a blame loop has created a blame black hole. please stand back at least 3 light years to be safe.
Once again I purchased more advent calendars than we use. They’re piling up on a shelf. One year I’ll have to open ten by myself. Stupid sales.
Blame for all the time I’m spending looking at lamps on wayfair.com.
1,718 Results. Page 27 of 36.
I … I may be a lampoholic.
You’re selling a lamp. It’s a thing that lights up.
So why aren’t there any photos of it with the light turned on?
Some of these things are really ugly.
And can someone please tell me why I would ever spend $4,000 on a freaking lamp?
@TheFLP You must show us the $4000 lamp.
/giphy you must
@sammydog01
Your wish is my command: Colombo 9" Table Lamp.
Interesting, but not $4K interesting.
Blame - the RC trucks I bought for the kids said it came with batteries and charger. It doesn’t. And now the alternative (that was affordable and decently rated) I had been considering is sold out everywhere; the cost of enough re-chargable batteries and charger makes the entire thing too expensive. This is what they wanted the most and so now I more or less have to come up with the money to buy what should have been included.
Blame - my car needs nearly $2600 in repairs (well counting the tires too)
Blame - what is going on with my cat (littermate of my one that died in September), the previous vet and the mounting costs
Unblame - at least, other than batteries, I am more or less done with christmas shopping.
Unblame - when I go to hospice Saturday to help decorate trees and bag cookies for the families of the patients there I will be able to go home with a ton of cookie crumbs. That I will have to eat them with a spoon is irrelevant
@Kidsandliz The one amazon review for that truck says it gobbles up batteries - sorry.
@mfladd I missed that review. Rechargeable batteries would help with the cost of that. That is what I am planning to buy.
