Anyone have a LeapPad Platinum AC power adapter they'd like to sell?
02 years ago I bought a model 31565 LeapPad Platinum 7" screen and the power adapter is now lost. This is 2015/16 with respect to when it was sold. The only power adapters for this online (so they must have changed that some time after I bought it) have cell phone or USB connectors to the power adapter. This thing has a round pug in. If LeapFrog actually sells replacement adapters I couldn’t find them on their website.
Also if anyone has any old games for that that they want to sell cheap I might be interested (well presuming I can find a power adapter and if that game isn’t already both owned and can be found).
Thanks

AC adapters are fairly generic. As long as you get the right voltage, connector, polarity, and enough current you’re OK. They usually help out by being the same size for the same voltage although this is not always the case.
The device will often have its power requirements labeled on it, or at least the voltage and polarity.
Polarity is usually pin positive and barrel negative though there can be oddball ones out there.
Current is what can be supplied by the adapter. If the device draws 500mA, anything 0.5A or larger can supply it. And sometimes a smaller one will be ok, especially since in this type of device it’s charging a battery and not directly running the power draw.
Voltage is not a case of more is better. Although a lot of times a device can accept and regulate different voltages for use, extra voltage means extra heat that has to be dissipated by the regulator. If a voltage is specified, get one that does that. If not, you may have to wing it by what will fit and see if it works.
So check your leap pad and then go to Goodwill and find the bin of orphaned ac adapters. You might even be able to bring the leap pad with you and check the fit or even test that it will power up with it. Around here that solution costs $2 or less.
Or you can get a universal adapter that comes with multiple tips and selectable voltage, but those usually aren’t cheap.
@djslack Trying to save money here as my sick cat and broken care have to take priority so the universal adapter is, unfortunately, out. But thanks for the suggestion.
@Kidsandliz I hope you didn’t tl;dr the six paragraphs above that for how to find one that isn’t universal but works. Combined with @blaineg’s find that it wants 5V 1.5A, you’re armed to hit Goodwill/thrift shops or eBay for what you need cheap.
@djslack I had written down the specs so if I find something I know it will work. Thrift shops around here don’t seem to have stuff like that. Ours are pretty crummy. I’ll have to re-check ebay searching that way. Been too busy today to do that.
One more thought: it looks like this tablet has a USB connector to sync with a computer. If that’s the case it may also charge with the USB connection and a spare phone charger may do the trick.
@djslack I had forgotten about that. Thanks for the reminder.

“The LEAPPAD Platinum tablet is equipped with a rechargeable lithium-polymer
battery. It will require about 5 hours of charging using the included AC power
adapter prior to use. Attempting to charge via connection to the computer will
take much longer.”
So it will charge slowly from USB.
Ah, there’s the power specs!
Output: DC5V, 1.5A
So now you just need to match the plug.
@blaineg Thanks. I guess I’ll try radio shack.
@blaineg Well I guess charging overnight on a phone adapter would be better than nothing.
To ask the simple question, did you search ebay?
@rtjhnstn yes and messaged a few people who were selling several. So far no luck.
So I sent an email to the company and they sent me back a link to the wrong adapter. They said they no longer made parts for it. Sigh.
