Anyone else stranded in Texas (or elsewhere) in this winter storm?
1I'm in the Dallas area for work. Already had two flights cancelled on me, one yesterday, another today, now I'm booked on a third for tomorrow. Hopefully the third time is the charm. Thankfully, I'm still in my comfortable hotel, expenses are covered, and I wasn't stuck at the airport like I'm sure others were. Anyone else in a similar situation?

...I think most of the Meh staff is stranded in Texas...but that has more to do with location and less to do with weather. That said, the weather is certainly an issue today.
@ChadP Touché!
School was cancelled today because of the impending freezing rain/sleet/snow event. So spring break starts a day early. Why oh why did they make spring break start the first week in March?
Fortunately I am not travelling this week. I did have to drive from OH to TN one time because the inclement weather forced the airlines to randomly re-schedule people. Since my colleague and I were re-scheduled on different airlines, travelling through different cities and arriving the day after our scheduled meetings, we opted to cancel our reservations and just drive the rental car for the trip. It turned out to be a lot of fun.
Boston here. HA!
Try the entire month of February.
We have mountains of snow all over the place with random hidden cars. Which makes it harder to clear the snow. There are chunks of ice falling from buildings and smashing cars driving by or parked on the street. Roofs are collapsing, risking lives.
We still have a couple more inches of snow coming our way, witch might push us over the all time record, right now at 105.7in (8.7ft). The snow starts to melt one day then freezes the next, so there is ice everywhere.
We lost our public transportation system several days, along with school canceled over and over. So now they have to use all their snow days plus added make-up days. The trains are finally back up and running, but barely.
TL;DR This winter season in Boston sucked. Can't wait until spring. Join in on the rant if you need to vent.
@The_Baron I can confirm this report
@The_Baron Yeah, you guys got freaking hammered. Here in Glens Falls, NY - we just finished the coldest February on record, with 22" more snow this month than normal. I can't wait for winter to end.
@Thumperchick The biggest deal was, it just didn't seem like the city was helping at all. I was also surprised that we beat Buffalo for total amount of snow.
I love the fact that we're getting snow in Texas more often. Not just because snow is fun but also because it's a great sign that green behavior really can make a difference to fight global warming.
@WTFhqwhgads I can assure you out here on the West Coast that we are well aware of the effects of global warming. Intimately.
My parents are in Kentucky; they got 20-22" of snow today. Fortunately the assistance folks were able to get there (they have full time in home care now).
