@nltownsend843 My gopro hero HD stays in tv out mode. You just set it once in the menu. All the gopros are like that. Once it detects ground on one of the usb pins when the cable is plugged in and the menu setting for live view is set, it's automatically in that mode.
@nltownsend843 I hear ya brudder. I'm about to bite the bullet and just get a GoPro H3. eBay store had them on sale for $130 this weekend. I sat on it too long and missed the boat. They sold out. It's also not the ideal solution, but the whole drone world seems to be built around them, so "iffin' ya can't beat 'em, join 'em" I guess. I do like my iLook+ well enough, but I can't do burst mode or simultanious photo/video with it. And for the price I might as well have a G3.
@nltownsend843 if u buy the gopro cable it's already grounded to another pin in the gopro. If u need this info I've posted it in another thread but can dig it up if you want. It's not much effort so let me know.
@garyhgaryh This camera uses a micro usb not the mini usb like a gopro. I have both types of "fpv" cables. I remember you posting in the other thread thats why i was hoping you knew off hand for the micro usb.
@nltownsend843 The pin shorting thingy is specific to each camera brand. For example I tried using the GoPro pinout on my Vivitar and it freezes up the camera. I also noted the Mobius uses a different set of pins. The AEE uses a different set of pins depending on which model you have. So what we need to do is find the info specific to your SJCam
The grounds are different for the different makes of cameras. For the gopro's specifically, they use the same ground pin. For the AEE S71 it's a different pin. Here's the pinout for the H3.
@nltownsend843 I did a ton of searching last night. I found a dozen instructables for building a cable, but all of them demonstrated the functionality and had to use the menu to select AV out. I was really considering the SJ4000 but I can see how that would be a pain after only a couple of times fussing with it. I may try the FPVfactory G3. Pic looks decent and it's got the GoPro style controls and output port for $55. Pic and vid looks ok on it.
This is the third camera ive bought and none have been "ideal" im about sick of it.

Go basically you ground the enable video-out pin with a 100Kohm resistor.
Ive emailed sjcam to see if theres anything i can do.
This camera would work great if i didnt have to turn on tv out every flight.

@ruouttaurmind
Yeah it will get old for sure, but i cut a slot in the back of my gimbal so i can see the menu without removing the camera at least.
