Anybody get any good advent calendars yet?
8I went late to Aldi for the little people one and they sold out. I ended up getting him the polar express train instead. And I got myself a truffle advent colander, had it before from Aldi it was okay. This years flavors look better.

My daughter bought an Advent calendar of cheeses for my wife and an Advent calendar of metal puzzles for me.
She won a lot of Advent brownie points in my book - I’m so excited!
I bought one with fishing lures for my hubby.
Bought my SIL one from a coffee roaster he likes
Found the Squishmallows in Aldi but realized I didn’t want to spend $30 on them, so I passed.
@heartny I get the impression that Squishmallows are on the way out, maybe they’ll get cheaper.
@heartny @sammydog01 Given the number of them I see in thrift stores, I feel they’re definitely on the decline. At one thrift store here, some stay unsold long enough to be extra discounted, which puts them in a price range that I’ll consider: sub-$2.
I have a large tie-dyed platypus (Brindall) as a permanent passenger in my car.

@heartny @narfcake @sammydog01 The Aldi one is listed by the scalpers all over Ebay and Poshmark etc for $50+ already.
@heartny @Kyeh @narfcake @sammydog01 well to be fair. I don’t think aldi intended it that way. They have done it for years. And it’s been popular. Brands have been for decades on Black Friday. But that was a deal not a status symbol
Costco has good wines.
But if anyone can buy up a limited release they will. Even if it’s just groceries. I’m sure that’s not Aldi’s plan just. A side effect of our society.
Ffs if something is on sale at the grocery store I’m never taking the last two off the shelf. Even if the limit is 5 and they must have more in the back and blah blah… IDK I can’t do it.
Have to leave one for the next person
@heartny @Kyeh @narfcake @sammydog01 and while we’re at it let’s. Break everyones head younger than us. You ever remember standing there while the manager filled out a raincheck? A legit thing. You advertised it. You offered it. You didn’t have it. Fill out a raincheck form on paper. So we can get it when you restock.
So I ignored the trader Joe’s wine advent calendars and so far only been to aldis in Maryland so no wine access at those…but I did get a choceur truffle calendar so…meh
I got this at Aldi. It even has enough to share.
I also have my Woobles calendar. That’s going to be fun.
According to the Lindt chocolate calendar I got at Target, Christmas will be this Tuesday.
@heartny According to my son’s advent calendar it was last weekend.
Wera Tools 2024.
Besides the inevitable bottle opener, the extras are handle shaped salt & pepper shakers.
@blaineg On sale at Woot if anyone wants one at a discount.

@Pavlov
I want that one. I love jam.
@Pavlov this is the best
If I wanted to be stupid and spend $ like an idiot
(This is a normal default state for me)
Is there a “day 1” for advent calendars being available in stores?
I got the cheese and the chocolate truffle one from Aldi. They have a dog treat one but not a cat treat one this year. They did have a cat toy calendar but my cats have become picky about their toys. They only like the catnip ones from Blue Q and Squeaker likes playing soccer with little foam balls.
Don’t bother with the $1 chocolate ones at Trader Joe’s - the chocolates are tiny - about 1" tall and 1/4" thick; they ARE only a dollar but still feel chintzy.
Edit: Oh wait - they’re $1.29 now.
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF ADVENT EVERYONE!
Show off your stuff.
