@sammydog01 Gaiman said that the book would comprise the first two episodes, and after that the script would incorporate other works of his, including Anansi Boys.
@OldCatLady I have Anansi Boys loaded on my kindle. Should I go ahead and burn through it this weekend and hold off on watching until I’m done? (My husband has seen the trailers for AG and told me I watch some weird stuff–because his Zombie show isn’t “weird,” yeah, right.)
@LaVikinga Which zombie show? You should really freak him out and make him watch Lexx. One of the wierdest shows I ever watched. There’s a couple of the movies and some episodes uncut on You Tube. Here’s a taste.
@LaVikinga I’d definitely read it. In fact, after Sunday’s episode I may have to reread it to get ready for the rest of the season. In interviews, Gaiman points out that ‘Technical Boy’ has evolved far beyond his AG persona, because the book was published in 2001, and the internet was a very different thing then. I expect AB details will be identifiable as a starting point.
@moondrake I’m afraid to click on that because it looks like a rotting hand by her head. I really don’t like the pop-out-and-scare stuff. The Walking Dead was what I was referring to but just couldn’t seem to pull the name out of my brain. I try to watch it, but I swear, hand to heart, I’ll end up with an old fashioned nightmare if I do.
@LaVikinga No zombies or rotting body parts. No pop out scares. One of the lead characters is technically dead, but he’s kept alive by weird science, and he’s not decomposing. Lexx is bizarre Sci Fi, not horror. The name of their ship is The Lexx. Looks like a giant dragonfly. It’s good stuff, just very different
@LaVikinga Nope, nothing like that. Not in the clip and I don’t remember any of that in the series. That thing that looks like a hand is an insectile shuttle ship outside her window. The effects are pretty low budget, that’s part of the charm. But mostly it just exists in a unique, zany, silly, but also cool universe.
@OldCatLady Well, this is weird. This is one of the rare times an actor is pretty much a fit with my mind’s eye of what a book character looks like. (Now, about Idris Elba as Roland Deschain…)
@arielleslie I had a friend that would come over every Monday to watch Westworld when it was airing. He brought steaks (real steak like ribeye, not the cheapo stuff I buy) and salad and I cooked. Pretty good deal for me.
@moondrake I had a friend that would come over to watch Boardwalk Empire back in the day. He would bring pizza and beer. I don’t drink beer. The pizza was from Little Caesars. I’m on a cardboard-free diet, so I didn’t touch that either. I guess he got the better end of the Boardwalk Empire bargain.
I have been waiting for this show since it was clear Bryan Fuller was letting Hannibal die because he’d moved on to it. Unfortunately, I don’t have cable and my friends who do did not pick up on my subtle hints. Thinking about subscribing to the app, but now or when it’s all been broadcast? Anyway, sounds like it’s amazing, which is no surprise.
I’m reading the book right now. But I don’t get STARZ. Maybe when it hits Amazon Prime.

@moondrake Ahhh, ok…if you swear no pop outs or oogies and parts falling off.

I’ll watch it eventually, but I’ll probably wait for a starz sneak preview or for it to make its way to one of the channels I pay for.
@moondrake You can get a free trial of the app after all 8 episodes have aired and just binge it.
I’ll find a way to watch it eventually. Given that it’s a Bryan Fuller show, it’ll be cancelled after two, three seasons tops.
@brhfl It just got renewed for a second season. After only two episodes, that’s pretty good.
I read the book. I would probably watch it if I had Starz, but I don’t.
I thought maybe this thread was about me. Turns out it is not.
Geez I’ve been waiting for oldcatlady to gay this thread up.
@cranky1950 I figured with a name like american gods it was a slamdunk
@cranky1950 If you insist. This is Shadow Moon, aka Ricky Whittle.
@cranky1950 And without tats:
@OldCatLady Those tats are a crime.
@OldCatLady Ok the universe is as it should be now.

I’m about to become much more social with one of my friends because she has Starz and is willing to DVR for me.
