Presidents get plenty of perks already, what with all the oil paintings and private air travel. What’s another profession that could use a celebratory holiday?
And before you say it, “National Person-Who-Posts-Things-for-the-Company’s-Modestly-Sized-Community-Forum Day” doesn’t have a great ring to it, but it’s an objectively great answer.
Everyone should have their birthday, they should get it off. No holiday’s celebrating other birthdays. That spreads those days out over the year. And it’s really only an excuse to have a 3 day weekend. I remember …
@Cerridwyn And those born on days like Xmas, July 4th, etc, should get to pick an “observed birthday” on a different day of the year that they wern’t actually born on (like the royal family does).
@Cerridwyn@OnionSoup We’ve got a “diversity day” that can be taken on any date. That would cover birthdays. I generaly use it on the 24th of July, Pioneer Day state holiday in Utah.
Before we were spun off we got Good Friday off, which always seemed a bit weird.
@blaineg@Cerridwyn@OnionSoup In my last job (before retirement) I got all Fridays off, Good, Bad and Meh (4-day work week). And now that I’m retired, every day is Friday!
@Cerridwyn my birthday is actually a national holiday. Although it moves around a bit because of that whole monday government holiday thing. Also I haven’t had it off in years but it’s nice to know that they close the banks and government offices for myself and Dr King.

@Cerridwyn @ironcheftoni Mine too, but as you say, the Monday holidays messed up the schedule.
@blaineg @Cerridwyn @macromeh @OnionSoup problem with every day being Friday is you lose track of time
