Alcoholic beverage preferences?
0I can’t be the only person who dislikes the taste of strong alcoholic beverages, but enjoys getting tipsy on something tasty (and preferably fruity, yes ok shut up). What are other people’s alcoholic beverages of choice? Coconut rum? Mike’s Hard Lemonade? Strawberry Daiquiris from one particular nightclub? Beer? Or Super Monster Vodka with Extra Burning? (maybe I really am just weak.) Please share!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don’t really drink. It would interfere with certain stuff.
@PlacidPenguin With being a goat?!?!
@ELUNO
Never had to deal with being a goat, and I never will.
I rarely drink but tried a black cherry mojito last week. It was really good. And it made certain stuff better.
For a mixed drink, a quality Margarita on the rocks or around the holidays I’ll have a homemade hot butter rum. Very easy to make.
Otherwise, I like a very good single malt Scotch, either neat or with 1 ice cube.
And beer. I like a good microbeer (most anything that has no added weird flavorings) and German beers. Any German beer.
Craft beer, wine, and whiskey on an ice sphere.
@connorbush You mix up beer, wine, and whiskey? OK I’ll give it a try.
@connorbush craft beer. Wine. Whiskey over ice
@sammydog01 see newly punctuated preferences below
@connorbush the holy trinity!
@connorbush above
@connorbush are you drunk?
@connorbush ice sphere that you bought here
@CrossIT you know it
Tequila with training wheels or margaritas are good, and I’ve actually found a cheap good tequila- sauza gold. If I’m drinking expensive I like a rye or jameson old fashioned.
@Pantheist what is tequila with training wheels?
@Yoda_Daenerys shot with salt and lime
@Pantheist I’m not sure that’s the best for someone that doesn’t like the taste of alcohol.
@sammydog01 ah you’re right. I didn’t read the first post well. I may have been drinking at the time.
@Pantheist Although I’m pretty sure if you choked down one of those first anything would taste good.
@Pantheist i’ve never i heard it called that, learn something new every day
I used to like good wheat beers from our numerous Northwest breweries, but recently discovered they don’t agree with me so much. So I stick with ciders these days if I do drink alcohol (~1/week).

However, this time of year sucks balls, since everyone wants to put pumpkin and cranberry in everything, gross.

@metageist Step 2: get some rum.
@PocketBrain rum is just about the only hard liquor I’d drink, and usually in a dark and stormy.
If you are looking for something sweet and easy, try out some Malört
@bruceoite “It tastes like a Gypsy curse!”
@bruceoite I tried to find the periscope with staff members trying the Malort someone sent them but it was expired. Maybe it’s on youtube somewhere?
@sammydog01 I also couldn’t find the stream on the Mediocre youtube channel, but I do have a copy of it saved on my computer.
Disarrono Sour if I’m drinking somewhere
Smirnoff Ice Green Apple (or grapefruit when I can find it) at home
Wallaby Darned at Outback Steakhouse (peach frozen drink with rum… But it basically just tastes like crushed up peaches)
Bailey’s or other Irish creme for holidays
I drink pretty rarely. I do not like beer.
Cross posted from the other thread because… Duplicates.
Kir royale, cafe royale, Manzanilla sherry, campari, and Mike’s Hard Cider is pretty good.
Why are there two of this thread? I’ve not had enough to drink today for it to be my vision. Anyways, copied from the other thread:
Yes.
I rarely drink sweet things, though I will use things like triple-sec for a bit of sweetness on occasion. I prefer whisky over vodka, but both are good (well, can be good). I normally drink vodka cold, unless it is a very good russian vodka. Whisky (or whiskey) is good whether neat, with a splash of water, over ice or in a sour (sans sugar, tho maybe with triple-sec on occasion). Gin (martinis, tom collins, others) is good. Dark aged rum with ginger beer (Dark and Stormy) is good. Pisco is good. Wine and beer are also good. In fact, other than things that are too sweet, pretty much everything is good.
i like cheap beer, expensive beer, cheap red wine, expensive red wine, cheap white wine, expensive white wine, cheap tequila, expensive tequila, cheap vodka, expensive vodka, cheap whiskey, expensive whiskey, cheap gin, expensive gin…
you get the idea
for something sweet try ouzo, or sambuca, but they are a bit strong
@Yoda_Daenerys So your answer is ‘yes’. Sounds good.
@OldCatLady i suppose it wood half bean moar concise to0 answer simply ‘yes, please’
Beer. Delicious beer.

When we were kids our parents would occasionally let us have a sip of Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill. It left an impression. We all still kind of like it, though we don’t keep any around normally.
My wife has made a spiked mulled apple cider for the holidays a couple of times that was pretty nice. I don’t know what beverage goes in to enhance it but it keeps you warm.
Almost never drink. 'cause busy.
And I am pretty much a know-nothing.
Bit when I do drink (while not being The Most Interesting Anything), I like high quality trad alcoholic beverages, unadultered. They should taste like their classic selves.
These days any IPA.
@cranky1950 I love many beers, but not IPAs. Just not a hop-head
@compunaut beer diet 3 hoppy beers a day.
@cranky1950 Maybe that’s what makes you cranky
@PlacidPenguin Are there any goats in the books?
@ELUNO
@PlacidPenguin
Only Cosmic Goats. And Space-Bending Penguins.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before, but if you like lime caipirinhas, mint julieps, and mojitos are all tasty and way less boozy than my earlier suggestions
@Pantheist Try a peach julep!
@f00l especially during Parker County Peach Festival
@compunaut Never had one, but I’ll bet it’s tasty
I enjoy lots of different alcoholic beverages.
On the beer side, mostly any non-IPA beer, especially ones with fruit flavors.
For mixed drinks, I have considerably more bottles of alcohol than things to mix with, so I tend to do drinks with 3 ingredients max:
Rum & coke
7 & 7 (usually not Seagram’s though)
Any Irish creme (Bailey’s, Ryan’s, O’Hara’s etc)
Irish coffee
Kahlua & coffee
In the summer, I’ve made Skippy before:
cheap beer, decent vodka, and lemonade mix (usually Country Time).
Then there’s silo juice
@cranky1950 Do what now?
@OldCatLady Plowboy secret, a lot of farmers that use silage have a spigot about head high on the silo. They don’t call it fermented silage for nothing.
a dark and stormy with good dark rum and Rachel’s Ginger Beer…yummmm
I like dark beers. Guinness is a reliable standby, and I’m always up to try a new porter or stout. Nothing too hoppy, please.
For sipping, I like bourbon (Elijah Craig is my go-to) or Islay Scotch. I usually buy a bottle of Laphroaig sometime around my birthday, and nurse it for the next year or so.
I also like mead, and make my own from local honey. it mixes well with the aforementioned Laphroaig.
That said, though, I’m game to try just about anything at least once. The only things I’ve discovered I just plain don’t like are gin, IPAs, and any other beer that assaults you with hops.
