@bugger@rustyh3 There’s a report farther down that says “yes”. My take is that these are best used when all you need to do is be able to see the screen, such as when using your phone as a webcam/monitor for a video conference.
@dahobbs9 Don’t let people, cats, other animals, strong drafts, tsunamis, seismic tremors, or other generators of lateral forces into the same room with the stand and device.
Or you could use JBWeld to fasten the stand to the table or desk, and bungee the device onto the stand. (This may fail if you have cats.)
@rpstrong The Amazon ad is very deceptive in its description. I can’t determine if you’re getting 2 pieces or just one. I read the description a couple of times and nowhere does it say you get 2 pieces. I’m not sure you can say if that is a 2 piece set or not. Looking at the pictures they appear to be the same size also. Given that and the fact that Meh’s description clearly says you get 2 pieces, buying it here might be the safer choice. And of course a choice of colors here.
This bundle contains 2 items (may ship separately)
Both stands are shown.
If you want other colors, select either stand, pick your color, and look down to where it offers any bundles found (sorry, no Rose Gold).
@Billlh@lisagd Depends on your membership status. If you pay for free shipping (I do; I make it up in spades at CM), it’s $6 cheaper here. But if you have Prime - and you’re subject to buyer’s remorse - the Big A has free returns.
I have the phone sized one. And yes, they can get top-heavy and topple over.
In less than a year, the tensioner spring had weakened enough that it no longer supported the phone. I can imagine the tablet one failing even sooner.
@MrJazz I will note that this entire category of item has vanished from the Aduro Products website. I suspect that this is part of why these ended up on Meh.
I’ve had a stand like this, and it’s fine as long as your phone isn’t wearing a bulky case. I prefer the stands that can hold bulky phones and tablets or allows for portrait and landscape.
@AaronLeeJohnson My personal preference is for one that has a wider stance, hinged in front and at the top, with either an adjustable-height support ledge or one that’s about an inch and a half above the table, and with something to turn the whole assembly into a secure triangle so that it won’t collapse. I have that kind in an adjustable-angle laptop support frame.
Mine came today. Frankly I am unimpressed. If these come up again and anyone is coming to this thread for a review, I suggest you pass. They are much smaller, and made of much thinner metal than I expected.
The “phone” one is laughably small. It feels way too small for most normal modern phones, plus the tension is very weak. It will probably still work as long as the part that holds the phone is resting on the table.
The “tablet” one (labeled “XL” on the box) is still smaller than the similar stand that I bought years ago elsewhere. It does at least have decent tension though, and is a reasonable size for a phone.
Here are a few pictures comparing the size vs. my other similar stand, and showing them holding a Pixel 7a in a case.
@Kyeh@werehatrack Haha yes I got it a while ago from someone on Craigslist. I think I paid around $400 for it, which felt like a decent price. It’s big. 6 drawers wide by 12 tall. Three of those pull-out writing surfaces.
@The_Tim@werehatrack
Wow! So lucky! I would love to have one. Libraries are kind of central to my existence. My parents met in one, worked in them, and then I did too.

U-Rise? Are these Viagra infused?
Whoa… something I actually want…
How uplifting.
No thanks. Mine stands on its own.
I assume that those dimensions are with the stand folded flat.
This item brought to you by the “We Have More Than Snacks” committee.
I have a few. They are not bad. Work well but only if you are going to just set your phone on a stand for no reason.
@bugger are they kind of tippy? It looks like if you tried to use your phone or tablet you would push it over backwards. Thoughts?

We have one a lot like that, and could use a couple more so sure, in for a pair.

How do ya keep em from top heavy fall over and cracking your Screen

They have this same thing except plastic at dollar tree. If it had wireless charging it would be worth it.
Can we use them for cabinet or door hinges?
$19.99 for the bundled pair at Amazon:

@Billlh Move down a screen, to where it says:
Both stands are shown.
If you want other colors, select either stand, pick your color, and look down to where it offers any bundles found (sorry, no Rose Gold).
@Billlh @rpstrong I clicked the “see what’s in the bundle” button, and it shows one of each, so it looks like rpstrong is right.
@lisagd @rpstrong Yea I see that now. I guess it’s a toss-up then as to where to get it.

[I ordered mine from here.]

This is entirely too practical for meh.

@The_Tim Thanks for that, I was kind of tempted to get them.
(You have a card catalog?)
@Kyeh @The_Tim I just missed being able to buy a cabinet and drawer set from our local library system a while back, and I’m still annoyed about it.
