I did the pelican case long ago (actually, mine's a Plano because it was a good bit cheaper). But Adam Savage has some nice ideas for a flight kit. And his charger is impressive.
@garyhgaryh here's my tactical Phantom case setup. The case came filled with the pick-n-pull foam so i could give everything a place. Quad, charger and cables, three batteries, tx, camera, two sets of props, prop wrench and sd card have slots. My old Bionic phone has a great screen for outdoors so it rides along to handle fpv over WiFi from the camera.
The area under the quad has room for the camera mount. Hopefully it's enough room for the gimbal as well.
@djslack Whoah that is nice. I want one that will fit with prop guards on. I'm lazy so I want to be able to get in and out with minimal setup time if I find a case to carry with me. How much did your case cost you? I might end up getting removeable prop guards if there are no other solution.
I spent quite some time researching the case purchase, trying to find the best fit and protection that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I took measurements of the quad and tx and found lots of cases that were almost perfect but not quite big enough in one dimension or another. Several more that were way too big. The only phantom specific cases on the market then were pelican cases $200 and up.
@garyhgaryh i was already writing that, it answered some of your questions but not all. Prop guards on is going to make for a large case, and there were plenty that were too big for me (i tend to drive small cars). You may look at the Plano sportsmans trunk, i remember those were big, and there are several pelican and competitor cases that are suitcase shaped and larger that could fit. Just measure everything and then search cases looking for inside dimensions.
I wanted a props-on case but settled for this. Putting the props on turned out to be a good thing as i can check their condition and make sure they're tight every flight. But prop guards would be a hassle to remove.
If I had his dough and access to the fully equipped machine shop that he uses I'd be a menace to the... er, I'd be a bigger menace to the skies!
Though, let's face it... it's mostly the ground I keep menacing. Some trees. A trash can once...
Oh man the things i could do with the Mythbusters shop.....discovery channel filling my pockets would be nice too!
@nltownsend843 ditto
Do you guys put the quad in a box or case when you're done? I did:
Now that I have bigger prop guards, I can't fit the phantom in my big plastic storage box.
What are you guys using?

I happily paid $80 for that case on Amazon (it's $130 in bass pro shops). It's now $70. http://www.amazon.com/Plano-108031-Pistol-Accessories-Black/dp/B0029KDHT0
Plano has changed their lineup for 2015 and now has a couple of similar looking cases. Not sure on the measurements they have.

@djslack I might get that pistol case and the $40 ebay backpack.
