But not the X671. (They were aluminum, made as a test back in the late '60s, and as far as I know they were never released to sale for production. It’s sufficient to say “not a success.” A friend captained a yacht that had been built around a pair of them; DD replaced them three times in four years.)
@werehatrack Was that an experimental aluminum block 6-71? I havent heard of that one, and I do know quite a bit about early GM diesels! Example: the 12V53 that was made for the military but was canceled before production. Only about five are known to exist.
For a long time, before I decided I didn’t want a supercharger and scoop sticking through the hood of my Challenger, I wanted a 6-71 blower setup on it.
(Rich Rebuilds is currently doing a 4BT swap into a Telsa Model 3, not as a middle finger to EVs but as a middle finger to Telsa for not selling replacement parts.)
See, I figured you meant the iconic 671
But then you said “noisy” so I thought maybe you were a bit more adventurous
@ybmuG Heh, I once caught a CSX AC6000CW wearing the road number 671.

Now keep going until you get to 1337 in a row.

@duodec You gotta go the whole way and get the engine it goes with
@PooltoyWolf Nyet; heavy diesel engine make Challenger front end go squish.
@duodec @PooltoyWolf
I’ll see your Challenger and raise you a Barracuda.
@duodec I did see someone put a Cummins 6BT in a Mazda RX-8 when the original rotary engine took a crap. (I think it’s called the RX-Hate)
@duodec @mike808 @PooltoyWolf
Well that certainly would cause a massive blind spot!
@duodec @mike808 @PooltoyWolf Doing that to a 'Cuda is a sacrilege

@duodec @narfcake Oh yeah I love that story!
I hit a 200 day streak today.
