The card came with their pocket hole jig. The tool is one of the least precise designs I’ve seen, placing the somewhat short centering bushings for the drill bits well back from the point where they start hitting the wood. It incorporates nothing to keep it aligned with the edge of the work, the drill bits do not have a pilot drill in the tip, and you’ve got to figure out where to install the depth stops yourself. Instructions? You don’ get no steenking instructions!
That said, yes, I know how to make it useful. But that won’t be true for a lot of people.
The screws included with the kit are useless with the two smaller sizes of drill bit and centering bushing that are included with the kit. The bushings installed by default are the middle size, so the screws won’t work without swapping to the large bushings first.
The smallest drill bit is way too big and short to make a useful pilot hole for any screws that will work with the other two drill bit sizes.
The peculiar filler plugs included with the kit will not work with the size of hole required for the screws in the kit.
The phrase “design fustercluck” seems appropriate.
Thanks for the info! I dropped my SideDeal cash on this but haven’t opened the box yet. This was the thing that arrived thanking me for my Groupon order.
@djslack I’m sure I will find uses for it, but it’s definity not a “Read the quick-start and be up and running in 5 minutes” item. And yeah, I dropped my ten buck coupon on it, too.
