@Pacers@ponagathos These are the black friday wal-mart special socks they are in fact terrible compared to your Gold Toe even to the Gold Toe they sale at Wal-Mart which for whatever ever reason isn’t the same as the Gold Toe they sale at JCP which is the only place you should buy socks and only if they are on sale and you have a ten dollar off ten dollar coupon. Yes I have all three types of socks I stand on concrete floors for 12 to 14 hours a day and wear two pairs of socks everyday and wear socks out fast even though I do wear shoes over the socks. Wearing just socks to work would be against company policy but someone here would think I just wear socks to work that is how you people are on this forum. I guess you could buy these as the pair you put over the Gold Toe pair if you are like me and wear two pairs of socks.
@dino2269@Pacers@ponagathos I recall a hobby machinists making OSHA jokes when he put a compliant platform over the concrete floor because he might sometimes stand there for 2 hours at a time.
Standing on a concrete floor for twelve hours at a time makes you wish that OSHA had enough inspectors to visit where you work.
@somf69 Aren’t shelters and charities in general better served by donations of money which they can use to buy needed items in bulk? That saves them the labor of accepting and sorting random donated goods and cuts out the middleman of whatever store the donating individuals bought said goods from. Unless Meh is selling these at a loss, I imagine any well-organized charity could find a vendor that would supply bulk socks at a better deal than this.
Ask your favorite local charities which they prefer - 9 pairs of socks or $15/20 cash (if you pay the shipping)… plus sales tax if you’re in one of the 6 “special” states.
It does seem less efficient if you’re charity-minded to take cash, convert it into goods, then donate… rather than simply donating the cash.
@somf69 I’m surprised that meh is trying to make a buck off these instead of donating their shipping container of socks themselves and taking the tax break.
At least these will match the coal in them tomorrow.
@somf69 YES. If someone wants to donate, I have a friend who collects socks for the Gubbio Project. They give out about 100 pairs of socks a week – all they have, every week. You can send the socks directly to them! And yes, they SPECIFICALLY ask for socks, and would love these.

@lljk@somf69 Agree 100%- the best way to support a charity is with cash, and let the charity buy what they and their clients need. There’s nothing wrong with donating socks (especially if that’s what the charity is asking for), but I think most charities, given the choice of a couple pairs of shoddy socks, or cash that they can spend on food, or heat, or training, or whatever, would take the cash. If what they really need is socks, they’ll buy them- and no doubt get a better deal than this one!.
I’m actually pretty happy with these Hanes socks — I don’t spend the whole day readjusting them until I can’t take it anymore and have to take my shoes off.
/giphy we’re not gonna take it
But these look pretty durable, and I know Dickies makes rugged shirts. Meh’s price brings them down to the same level as the Hanes socks.
/giphy fuchsia-snotty-park
And holy shit am I gonna have to sign up for a Mehmbership? I’ve bought at least one thing a month since September, and this is my third order this month. I guess I’m a sucker for wearables that don’t look ugly.
Well, aside from that Ugly Christmas Sweater shirt.
Why was I charged an extra $3 for my order, according to my discover card? I have the purchase for $15, $4.99 for the month of shipping, and another $3.00 from medicre com??
I would like to say idk about these sox?
I like the eurosocks meh sold before but idk. Dickies is really just an ok brand. Way overrated sometimes imho.
I own these socks. They are pretty good. I work white collar but do a lot of standing and they have been nice. Haven’t developed holes or anything like that. Pretty comfortable and cushy. Bought some more because you can never have too many pairs of socks and underwear.
I have been wearing this type of sock for over 5 years, and they are very nice and durable. BUT they are $4 every single year for a six pack at Walmart on black Friday. I picked up 4 packs (24 pairs) for $1 more not including shipping. Definitely a very meh deal…
Sorry Meh, but over at That Daily Deal they have 18 pair of Everlast socks for $18 plus free shipping. Damnit, I deserve an IRK if I’m going to buy your overpriced sox! You need to up your game here…
Man… I gotta’ buy my own socks for Christmas. At 27 pairs I only have to wear each pair 13 times to get me to next year! I might be overstocked (Over-socked?).
Mmm, nice thick socks. I’d wear these for the entire 2-3 weeks a year that it’s chilly in SW Florida (aka Flori-duh). In fact, I wear no socks about 9 months of the year here…
I’ve just sent 27 pairs to the charity a rabbi friend of mine helps with. If someone wants to donate, it’s the Gubbio Project. So, uh, maybe you could have mentioned that you guys had these because they were nothing but socks that failed QC?
Each of the bundles had a pair with a unique, cool thing about it!
One pair was women’s socks.
One pair wasn’t finished, the reinforcement hadn’t been put on the bottom correctly.
One pair was a different color.
I mean, at the price, whatever, gave the women’s pair to my wife, I’ll wear the rest.
@djslack@givemeyoursoul@therealjrn these came in yesterday. Exactly as advertised. But they’re not meh, actually pretty damn comfy! We’ll see how long they last…
@givemeyoursoul@llangley@therealjrn mine came in as well, I’ve worn 2 pair and so far, so good. They look the same as some others I had but seem thicker/nicer.
I got my surprise sock needs taken care of in my IRK.
These are very obviously factory seconds, or even thirds… I received a couple of tiny socks compared to the rest, almost all were missing “dickies” writing, a few that already had holes at the stitch, and the majority of them were sewn incorrectly and left a huge ball at the toes which make them annoyingly uncomfortable. Of my 27 pairs, I was only able to salvage 11 good wearable pairs. It was a bigger buzz kill than Buzz Killington.
@Jason_971@surfeit They have a 90 day Mediocre warranty. Contact support for help with them.
After reading @Jason_971’s post above I looked more carefully at mine. They are all seconds for sure. Most have the Dickies label sewn inside the toe, you can see the bottom of the letters peeking out. One has the toe seam stitched with white thread, which seems like a bachelor DIY repair. Only one has had a big wad of fabric in the toe so far. None seem to be falling apart.
@djslack@Jason_971@surfeit That word sewn under the stitch is actually “Hanes”. It’s identical to the Hanes socks that I’ve been wearing. It honestly looks like someone took socks that were too big and stitched the toe over itself to sell them at a smaller size.
@aardWolf@djslack@Jason_971

@AttyVette Welcome back. Hope u had a good mehcation.
Fake feet not included. I’m out.
@OnionSoup Last time we included real feet, we got in big trouble and lost our favorite FedEx carrier.
@OnionSoup @Thumperchick that stinks.
@OnionSoup Perhaps they are adding real feet this time???
Dickies? I actually need the kind that go on my Feeties.
Size 6-12? Where are the real men sized socks?
@Pacers Hidden with the tall t-shirts.
@Pacers so many ways to interpret this.
“Where are “the real” men sized socks?” - These socks are real and have men’s sizes.
“Where are the real “men sized” socks?” - That’s a whole different product line.
“Where are the “real men” sized socks?” - Real men have feet of all sizes. These socks however, do not cover feet of all sizes. Just the ones in 6-12.
@Pacers Probably at a real clothing retailer?
@Pacers Seriously. Ever since I picked up some Gold Toe 13-15, all my other socks feel terrible.
Does Dickies make decent socks? I have had shirts and pants made by them and donated them because they also felt terrible.
@Pacers @ponagathos I have these and like them.
@Pacers @ponagathos These are the black friday wal-mart special socks they are in fact terrible compared to your Gold Toe even to the Gold Toe they sale at Wal-Mart which for whatever ever reason isn’t the same as the Gold Toe they sale at JCP which is the only place you should buy socks and only if they are on sale and you have a ten dollar off ten dollar coupon. @blaineg - @dino2269 has socks 4 feet:

@Pacers Agreed! These would probably fit better on my Dickie than on my Feeties!
They arrived today and are what I had already and like.
I just bought socks, too. Darn these holey monstrosities!

What’s next?
Brown Striped Unisex Underwear?
@Woody1 brown stripe is a bit over the top for Meh this holiday.
Plain black tees.
Black socks.
What makes you think they will suddenly be all festive with brown stuff tomorrow?
@Woody1 after you wear them a few times all underwear becomes brown stripe
I say we all place an order and donate them to local homeless shelters. Socks are one of the top clothing items requested by those needing services.
@somf69 Aren’t shelters and charities in general better served by donations of money which they can use to buy needed items in bulk? That saves them the labor of accepting and sorting random donated goods and cuts out the middleman of whatever store the donating individuals bought said goods from. @lljk @somf69 you would think, and yet I hear this kind of a lot, now that I think about it…they really do appreciate sock donations.

I got knock-offs. It looks like they took socks that were too big (that actually have HANES written on them), then stitched the toe over so they’re smaller. They were poorly stiched as well.
After only a few wearing a few times holes are appearing. VERY low quality!
