@alose@PooltoyWolf Combo machines tend to be crap as dryers. They are very common in other countries, but relatively new here. I don’t expect them to get much traction unless they have improved a hell of a lot over what I have seen.
@PooltoyWolf@werehatrack It is a single combo unit. As a washer, it is a great he front loader. Plus has some additional functions like steam. It does take about twice as long to dry as a normal dryer. But it does this automatically so you don’t have to transfer between machines. The convenience and space saving makes up for the additional time for me.
@alose@werehatrack I have legitimately never seen a single drum unit that both washes and dries. The space saving implications are massive, though I don’t know how they deal with electric drying in the same space as water!
@mebisping anytime you see a size chart like this it means it’s Chinese sizes and since they must be a tiny people they are equivalent to American child sizes, I got burnt a couple of times buying a jacket and pants from such a company and will never buy again.
Bought them last time and I like them. We do hang them up to dry, but we do that for most of our wash anyway. I also like the colors (got orange and purple) but got mostly blue, black and no stripes. So that was a disappointment. Too soon to comment on durability but very comfy for me. Not sure I need 9 more though.
I just checked my undies drawer and have 4 different brands including these from the 1st offer, all XL, I have a 42 waist and they all fit the same. The size chart is wack.
@thebigtverberg The author only seems to have issue with the chemicals used to process the material but she even states that similar ones are used to process cotton. I’m happen to not be wearing oil.
I bought these last time with low expectations - unwarranted as it turns out. What seems like a lot of hyperbole on their website turns out to be true - these are REALLY comfortable. So I bought nine more. As advised, I would recommend going a little larger than you are used to. It’s a pretty fantastic deal and my wife says they look great as well.
@detailer I haven’t flown in 20 years. So not missing the Fly at all. Most of my underMeh still has the stupid fly contraption but why not just pull down the elastic waist and enjoy the freedom? Just saying that’s how I roll, um, hang…
@katbyter Ha, no, I don’t think so. It’s the spandex part of the 5% fabric equation I believe. And for me, it’s an amazing anti-chafe solution for long walks/running. Bought these on a whim and knock on wood they are turning out to be my fav underwear.
@Trinityscrew And taking a gamble on the sizing is the real problem with these. When is it really what we would call an L or an XL, or some people say the 4XL is really just an XL, and so I don’t know what’s what. There should be some sort of verified fitting thing since this site seems to constantly offer products with, let’s say, foreign sizing conventions.
@coryczorna Of course, but a lot of comments on previous similar deals with “East Asia Sizing” show that sometimes the sizing charts don’t match reality anyway.
@pmarin True, but I’ve found even on deal sites wtih no return policy… If the product received is vastly different than advertised, they will allow for returns/refunds.
Not a huge fan…fit is more snug than I expected…wish there had been some way to buy/try one before I bought a whole package. But that’s a risk you take with a Meh discount.
Interesting that my Meh order code was “grassy-uneven-sack”
@pakopako Viscose is rayon, and the breathability is mostly a function of the filament diameter. For polyester, exactly which of the several dozen different polymers are used to create the yarn will determine whether or not the fabric either wicks or will encourage evaporation of the wicked moisture away from it. The crap that was sold as polyester back in the early 70s basically turned into a sodden mess if you sweated in it at all. The fact that the clothing manufacturers do not clearly delineate the difference between the various types of polyester is a huge part of the problem. Yes, I know, now they have introduced terms like dry blend and performance wicking, but they also lie about them. And those of us who grew up where it was hot and sticky will forever remain suspicious of polyester.
Just got these. The sizing is definitely off. My pants are around 31-32, but even Large for these are too small. I’m having to intentionally stretch them out.
Definitely a premium-feeling pair of underwear. I look and feel good in them. Undies were tight in the waist but that reduced after a couple of washes and air-drying.
I bought these again but a size up due to peer-pressure.

@Felton10 @yakkoTDI there’s a margarita in my pants and everyone´s invited!
Now this deal is hitting below the belt.
Sub-meh.

“Air dry in the shade”
Whose hanging their underwear outdoors?
@Hanky People in red states?
@Felton10 @Hanky Wrong again – this is New York City, where they blew

@Hanky There’s shade and air inside too
Thank god the condition is new
“Air dry in the shade”? meh
Briefly: NO.
Be sure to check the sizing chart!
I bought these the last time. Very comfortable, and I machine wash them fine. I do dry them, but I have a combo washer/dryer. YMMV
@alose Same, but I suggest buying (edit: 2) sizes up from your usual. Mine are a tad tight only around the waistband, but still comfortable.
@alose Can you elaborate on your combo machine? I assume you mean a stacked unit, not a washer and dryer using the same single drum…?
@alose @PooltoyWolf Combo machines tend to be crap as dryers. They are very common in other countries, but relatively new here. I don’t expect them to get much traction unless they have improved a hell of a lot over what I have seen.

LOL, sizing chart is whack AF
@mebisping anytime you see a size chart like this it means it’s Chinese sizes and since they must be a tiny people they are equivalent to American child sizes, I got burnt a couple of times buying a jacket and pants from such a company and will never buy again.
Also, make sure to check the sizing chart. You will probably need to go up 3-4 sizes or so.
OH MY GOD GEPETTO’S WISH CAME TRUE AND THEY TURNED GLEN INTO A REAL BOY!!!
Since when is a 42” waist a 4XL?!?! WTF!!
@bigjl98 East Asian size chart
Didn’t think people still wore codpieces in the 21st century
@swhitt1987 Only those with a large cod.
Is the bulge built in or do I have to provide my own? Asking for a friend who says he’s more of a grower
@chiefbugbung I know where to get the ones with the padded bulge if you need it.
Sorry, Mehmbers Only ride or die.
If you know, you know.
Bought them last time and I like them. We do hang them up to dry, but we do that for most of our wash anyway. I also like the colors (got orange and purple) but got mostly blue, black and no stripes. So after checking the review link provided, just curious but why are there so many reviews by non English speakers? Also that THUMB is weirdly long.
Hmmm. Refurbs.
I just checked my undies drawer and have 4 different brands including these from the 1st offer, all XL, I have a 42 waist and they all fit the same. The size chart is wack.
@JoeSeadog I’m glad I saw your comment, or I would have gotten very large underwear.
Didn’t know much about bamboo viscose so I searched for some info. The way it’s made seems pretty caustic imo.
https://theecohub.com/bamboo-viscose-eco-friendly-sustainable-fabric/
@thebigtverberg It’s slightly more eco-friendly than coal-fired power plants. And with these, the waste and hazards are in Places That Don’t Matter.
@thebigtverberg forgot the </sarcasm> tag, sorry
@thebigtverberg Oof. I did not know. Seems like bamboo viscose is more damn greenwashing.
@thebigtverberg The author only seems to have issue with the chemicals used to process the material but she even states that similar ones are used to process cotton. I’m happen to not be wearing oil.

“To fly,or not to fly”…that is the question. What say you Mehtizens? Back your choice with a comment please.
@detailer The government made my choice for me. I’m on the “No Fly” list.
@detailer I haven’t flown in 20 years. So not missing the Fly at all. Most of my underMeh still has the stupid fly contraption but why not just pull down the elastic waist and enjoy the freedom? Just saying that’s how I roll, um, hang…
@detailer Air travel costs too much, but so does gas, and so does extra-baggage. So as often as not, if there is an option to do so, I drive.
@detailer @werehatrack I guess your time is worth peanuts
@detailer @thechinglish If you go by my income, damn cheap peanuts
Is the contrasting trim supposed to make the thighs look thinner?
@katbyter Ha, no, I don’t think so. It’s the spandex part of the 5% fabric equation I believe. And for me, it’s an amazing anti-chafe solution for long walks/running. Bought these on a whim and knock on wood they are turning out to be my fav underwear.
$3.33 per pair of underwear is a pretty good deal. But shelling out 30 bucks to figure out if they’re comfortable is holding me back.
@Trinityscrew And taking a gamble on the sizing is the real problem with these. There should be some sort of verified fitting thing since this site seems to constantly offer products with, let’s say, foreign sizing conventions.
@pmarin I mean, there is a size chart you could use.
One of those very helpful reviews on Morningsave (for a different brand):
Not a huge fan…fit is more snug than I expected…wish there had been some way to buy/try one before I bought a whole package. But that’s a risk you take with a Meh discount.
Interesting that my Meh order code was “grassy-uneven-sack”
Didn’t we have a talk here about how Viscose Bamboo wasn’t any better at breathing than polyester or rayon?
@pakopako Viscose is rayon, and the breathability is mostly a function of the filament diameter. Just got these. The sizing is definitely off. My pants are around 31-32, but even Large for these are too small. I’m having to intentionally stretch them out.
Luckily some of them were larger than the rest, so I had to give 7 of them away. Ah well, I’ll try to watch SideDeal for a clearance on them.
Definitely a premium-feeling pair of underwear. I look and feel good in them. Undies were tight in the waist but that reduced after a couple of washes and air-drying.
