I’m Sean, former Woot writer and current author of several short stories. @dave asked me to put together some stuff for the Meh community, so you’ll see me on here from time-to-time, dishing out piping-hot Fresh Content®. We’ll get things rolling with a few recommendations. Here are 8 hot new podcasts to subscribe to TODAY!
1. Trowel & Towel, Talkin’ Fowl
Renee Hutchins, a gardener, partners with Tobias Hornets, a dealer of fine absorbent fabrics, to provide a fresh take on the most important poultry-related issues of the past, present, and future.
2. Broken Link
In each season of this exciting new pod, journalist Thaylen Aimes investigates a single broken link, trying to discern where it was supposed to lead and what went wrong. Gripping, suspenseful, and often heartbreaking, Broken Link is an artful examination of URL corruption and error message culture.
3. We Just Bought A Mic
Verified Twitter celebrities @liz4liscious (Liza Schaefer) and @EM_ForeSTAR (Cory Bebbins) get together twice a month to discuss such burning questions as: wait, does my voice really sound like that; and why is there that weird popping noise whenever I say a word with a ‘p’ in it?
4. Forty-Nine Minutes of Nothing But Raspy Laughter

5. The Straight Shit On Estuaries
In the opening episode of this endearingly abrasive new podcast, host (and former Torque Stain bassist) Tripp Donaldsin warns that, “…this ain’t no pussy-footed estuary bullshit to play for Grandma on the way to the denture store.” And he means it. Each seven hour installment is chock full of the sort of hard-hitting estuary facts that your high school geography teachers didn’t want you to know about!
6. This American Leaf
A fun though mildly derivative weekly storytelling pod wherein each episode is split into three thematically related acts concerning United States horticulture!
7. Razor Learn
Unlike the many shave-casts out there helmed by professional shavers who give long-winded highly-technical shaving lectures, Razor Learn is hosted by two eager and excitable amateurs—Abigail Bradley and Doug Hopkins—who aren’t afraid to answer all your shaving questions clearly and without the condescension so typical of the genre.
8. Test_Upload.mp3
From the people who brought you, We Just Bought A Mic, this highly conceptual micropod so far consists of just one 8-second episode in which @liz4liscious can be heard saying, “Is it working?” But even if that’s all it yields, it’ll be worth it for the off-air performance art component, with both Schaefer and Bebbins playing the parts of technically-illiterate podcasters who “uploaded that file as a test,” and now “want to delete it,” only they “don’t know how.” Alt-comedy at its best!

I want to spend 7 hours listening to a podcast about estuaries. The only one I could find was from NOAA and only 16 minutes long. Now I’m sad.
(Seriously thanks for the laugh @seanadams and @dave. Keep them coming. It almost makes up for the demise of bundle Saturdays.)

@medz there’s a bunch of ways to listen to podcasts. Most don’t have to do with Apple. That being said, I use the free itunes software to download stuff then copy it over to my mp3 player,(or use your phone). You can listen to them online too, or in your car, or, or…lots of places!

@wew I don’t know. The OP was recommending podcasts, but with no links. Is this just a joke post of examples of podcasts?
@medz I believe that if you actually read the descriptions of each of the podcasts, you would quickly answer your own question
@curtise read most of them, sadly believable… I’ve seen YouTube videos with similar topics.
@medz maybe pc’s should have a breathalyzer app, that analyzes op’s bac before people post.
I listen to Escape Pod. They do one SciFi short story each week. I’ve heard lots of good stories. There are two related short story podcasts Pseudopod (horror) and Podcastle (fantasy) for fans of those genres.
Although I download podcast episodes with iTunes, I transfer then as mp3s to a Sansa Clip and listen to them on that. There are lots of other ways to get podcasts without going near Apple products.
I need to check these out. I can barely keep up with the lit/genre mags I subscribe to. Would be a huge help to be able to absorb some good stories while I drive or get stuff done around the house.
I’m sick of podcasts, and am ripe for the gentler approach of huskcasts, shellcasts, vinecasts, clustercasts, berrycasts and/or folgerscrystalcasts. If you hear of any, please tug twice on my southernmost tendril and release the agreed-upon ethylene alert signal.

@therealjrn I’m a fan of the show. I lean strongly Liberterian, and their political bias seems to align well with mine, if that helps you, @wew.

@therealjrn listening now to the No Agenda…ummmm… the #10007 podcast. First I thought, “Oh, this is one of those political leaning shows which leans opposite of me.” (wordy!) But now I’m not sure where they lean or if they try not to. I’ll listen to a few more before I decide anything.
Man! They have dedicated fans contributing buku bucks! It’s an interesting podcast.
I hope i get to most of the recommended podcasts posted by (my) meh community, here, and in other threads.
@wew Glad you’re experiencing it! It took me a few episodes, way back around 222 (or something) before I really cottoned to it. They certainly have staying power–they’ve been doing the show for over 10 years. I can’t say as I agree 100% every time with their analysis’ but more often than not, they are in the ballpark for me.
When you get to episode 1008, they talk about how people won’t/don’t even listen to each other any more–on both sides…
@therealjrn wow! That last sentence is so interesting. I was just saying to myself today, (oh man, I’m spending too much time with myself), that next time someone brings up an opposite political opinion, I’m just gonna walk away because I angrily just don’t know where to start.
I’m gonna try to not make this political—I was reading a thread talking about someone who gave money to a ho to just keep quiet…
1/3 the way into the thread, the opposite side stepped in and said, "well he should be commended for paying that prostitute, not like that other guy, who didn’t give his ho a dime."
I think it would be good if i took a week off of politics.

I love Broken Link. I was so stuck on Error 404 and all the other plain vanilla codes. But now my mind has expanded to new error horizons. Who’d have thought the 500 series could be so madcap? I laughed so hard, I generated some of my own errors!
If you listen to your podcasts at normal speed, you’re missing out. I use Podcast Addict where you can speed up payback (1.4x is the sweet spot for me) and it’ll skip silence for you.
