Size
2.5 fl oz (Per Bottle)
Ingredients
Purified Water, Pineapple Juice Concentrate, Organic Cane Sugar, Natural Flavors, Organic Blackberry Juice Concentrate, Organic Lemon Juice Concentrate, L-Theanine, Monk Fruit Juice Concentrate, Organic Caffeine, Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
At least it doesn’t have fake sugar.
1/2 bottle = 1 espresso, so you could get 144 espressos out of it. Assuming $3 espresso => 144 * $3 = $432 .
Now, $29 / $432 => 6.7% the cost of an espresso.
It is a deal, but I wish meh had smaller quantities.
@agnesnutter@cfg83
Monkfruit juice would contain erythritol which is a no-calorie sweetener. It’s the same stuff that’s in Stevia leaves. Whether or not it is just the juice or refined to extract just the erythritol or not is unknown.
Luckily, people tell me we’ve got a real champion of getting rid of those pesky regulations and the science nonsense at the FDA.
@agnesnutter@cfg83@mike808 Stevia leaves do not contain erythritol. Erythritol is added to some, but not all, stevia sweeteners.
Erythritol is associated with increased risk of heart attack and stroke. Monk fruit and erythritol are sugar alcohols and are known to cause GI distress.
Stevia leaves/extract by themselves are considered safe.
@agnesnutter@cfg83@user18073629
Hmmm. Did not know that. I thought Stevia contained Erythritol (sugar alcohols). It doesn’t. It’s kind of its own thing, steviol glycosides.
That photo at the end is rather deceptive. Why¿ Because a 2.5 oz bottle is tiny, but look at how it compares to the guys hand,… unless he has very tiny hands like dRumpf!!
these are on Meh because they taste like blackberry phones and not blackberry berries. now, if these were flavored like an old nokia phone, i’d be all over it, but i think we all remember what those blackberry phones tasted like. no thank you.
@omally The hubs, who uses a lot more energy-drink-ish stuff than I do, was very amused by the “more like Blackberry-the-phone than blackberry-the-fruit” description. He also observed that this is not unusual for energy shots.
The movie is “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” because the picture is of John Lithgow and James Franco, who were both in it.
/image rise of the planet of the apes
@africanppac@troy Yes, but I would use it for stress time, aka when I need a jolt to get through the crap. Then again, I could pour it into another drink and save $ on coffee for awhile.
Hmm BLACKBERRY?? When it is the 6th ingredient after sugar (4th) meaning more sugar in there than blackberry. Since pineapple is second that should be it’s name. Color be damned.
@Kidsandliz this does sound like pineapple Gatorade … Which makes me wonder if I could do the same (concentrated pineapple juice, sugar, salt; wide-mouth spill-proof mug)
Energy wise, I think it works.
Taste wise, it is basically a hint of blackberry trying half-heartedly and failing miserably to mask the bitter taste of caffeine. It is foul.
That being said, I don’t drink these for tastes. I just wish it didn’t taste like drinking medicine.

@cfg83 is monk fruit extract not a fake sugar?
@agnesnutter I don’t know.
@agnesnutter @cfg83 It’s not aspertine, that’s good enough for me.
@AaronLeeJohnson @agnesnutter Yeah, sullen teens are a PITA, but aspirational teens are much worse.

@agnesnutter @mike808 Sooooooo, erythritol in a non-refined form is natural.
@cfg83 @mike808 I maintain that it’s both natural and a fake sugar, like a yellow and black striped fly is both natural and a fake bee.

@cfg83 but the serving size are 6 botlkes
@Eugene0567 I am basing my espresso calculations on this :
When you say serving size is 6 bottles, are you referring to this?
I think the “Servings Per Container 6” is the number of bottle in the 6 pack display packaging.

@mediocrebot Good thing Mr. Fly wasn’t in love with a spider.

“Sooooooo, erythritol in a non-refined form is natural.”
Just like caffeine in a non-refined form is natural. See Guarana leaves, Guarana extract, sugar cane syrup, etc.
There is no regulation of the meaning of “natural”. Yay Freedom!

TIL
These might be “Clean Energy” drinks but I don’t think I’d want them if they leave your hands this messy!!

I assume this will be gross, but as long as it works I’m fine with it. Can’t be worse tasting than 5 hour.

@omally I didn’t know that. A blackberry keyboard would be great right now (I throw away the rest).

@mike808 This was a hard one, nice catch!
@dave @mike808 Me too! Soooo, the grape drink is the drug needed too make apes smart?
50 calories in a 2.5 ounce shot? Daaamn. That’s like 90% more sugar than coca cola.
@ColeSloth
@Atomizer @ColeSloth
For reference, this stuff is pretty comparable to grape juice.
Juice is candy.
If you’re on prescription meds proceed with caution - this has concentrated pineapple juice in it.
Expires too soon. Do better!!
@africanppac 1 shot every 3 days and you’ll run out by November. You could always buy from amazon at close to 10x the price and hope for longer dating
@africanppac @troy Yes, but I would use it for stress time, aka when I need a jolt to get through the crap. Then again, I could pour it into another drink and save $ on coffee for awhile.

Gallon-and-a-half of pineapple juice, in convenient 3oz bottles. Not the worst you can do. (You could mix it into pizza sauce …)
