I see woot is offering these all day today. I know a lot of us remember when these things were actually something you would take a bullet for. Now they are nothing but a watered down bag of real shit.
For me, my recent BOCs have been better than the two Fukus I have gotten here. To be fair looking at the community as a whole, the fukus have been better, I just have poor luck here and somewhat ok luck there.
Been on Woot for like 12 years and I got my first BoC today. It didn’t feel very special though. I even had time to log back into the site and it was still available. Meh.
Very pleased you guys enjoyed the old one so much! But it was way past time to retire it. I personally am really glad they mothballed the original (nearly a decade old!) and like the newer one a lot.
I got one yesterday despite the bad coding in the I want one app game. We’ll see how this one goes. The first one I got a powerbank that I still use. So maybe it won’t be that crappy?
Last BOC I got was about… maybe 6 weeks ago. Right about the same time I was (un)fortunate to be one of the mystery Fuk recipients.
Contents of the two boxes were similar in usefulness and actual value. Between the two, the only thing I kept was a 30 foot retractable dog leash from the BOC. The Fuk had a kids tablet, which seemed promising. In the end it turned out to be DOA.
BOC won the content round, but the Fuk forum thread was more fun to play in, so Fuk won the social element round.
The most interesting thing I’ve recieved from a BOC is a realistic fake leg/goot eith toewax with a news article qbout a man who’d been hanging one out of his truck bed.
Most useful item I’ve ever got from a BOC? A telescoping ladder that’s still in its box.
From Meh? That refurb audio reciever/sound system/tv media box thinger thing that a friend wanted.
I’m looking forward to the contents of the fuku much moreso than the Woot BOC due to the better quality of conent and the diversity of items recieved.
I’m now debating whether, if I were getting a bag of real shit, I’d want it watered down or just pure shit.

A hat trick: a fuko last week from Meh., a BOC last night from Woot, and a discounted gift card from Amazon.
