@fuzzmanmatt I don’t know if this is a complete joke or a jokingly-presented evaluation of this brand, but I would be interested to know if these are pretty solid or if they’re likely to come apart and release the magnets.
@Limewater found some amazon reviews that mention what you and I are concerned about:
“Not as good as others. Compared to other magnetic blocks we have played with, these blocks were quite flimsy and not as strong”
“We have nearly had it for 1 week and about 4-5 pieces have come apart and the magnets have fell out making it extremely dangerous for our smaller children and pet.”
"Cool set but break apart easily "
Lots of people loved them though - 33 reviews, several say they are sturdy, however with 3 saying they break apart I decided I can’t take the risk as much as the older kids would love them.
@Kidsandliz@Limewater I bought some sets a while back. They are very solid and the magnets don’t come out at all. You’d have to take a hammer and a lot of force to get them out. My daughter has played with them since she was a newborn.
@Ignorant@mike808@tweezak I remember in the physics course I screwed-up an exam question because I used my left hand for the right-hand rule. Or was it the right hand for the left-hand rule? I still don’t know. So I guess I’d still screw up that question.
Too bad there is an almost 2 year old involved who is into everything her older siblings are doing (I am sure dhs takes a dim view of caging them) as the older kids would love these.

Our four year old played with these at the cousins house and loved them. Getting the set with the wheeled bases because that seemed like a major part of the enjoyment.
We have a couple sets from the recent meh-rathon and they get a HUGE thumbs up from me and the 3-year-old. She’s had fun with LEGO/Duplo but the way the magnets stick together and the minimal force required to pull them apart or “squish” them have unlocked a whole new level of creativity. She’s played alone for an hour or more with them every day this week which means she’s not “helping Daddy” as much in the kitchen and dinner has been to the table a lot earlier.
With regard to durability since I’m putting them away with her I have checked for loose magnets and there is always a “rattle” meaning they’re a bit loose inside the tiles. But we have zero cracking, crazing or prying apart. I don’t thing I’d put them into service in a preschool on the off chance near-continuous play would turn up a weak part that disgorges tic-tac-sized rare earth magnets. But for home and minor supervision they’re great for any but the most “nomf!”-obsessed toddlers.
If we had a road trip planned I’d pack them for back seat play.
Not trying to alarm anyone about Christmas but this is the 40th week of the year and there are 52 weeks a year. I will let the guy with the math equation in the post above do that math for you.

@Limewater That is why I am not buying them. The others would love them but too much risk with an almost 2 year old around.

@Limewater it’s a joke based on the very first line in the predict description.

Would have been some older variant of this class.
@Ignorant @mike808 Whoop whoop! MCL
@Ignorant @mike808 @tweezak who even voted for Maxwell, why does he get to write the laws?
