@phendrick just gotta add another. 50 cents for the stupid rfid chip they put in each one to annoy the heck out of you when they think you need to change expensive heads…
@phendrick@werehatrack I know y’all are having fun ranting about ‘the 2-cent Chinese ones are just as good’, and yes these are priced at a hefty premium, and yes they sell the Chinese ones here too at times.
Ultimately it’s up to you if you want to pay for these or get 12 cents worth of the fake brand (according to your 2-cent math).
Personally I am happy buying the ones made in Belgium or Germany by well-paid workers with health benefits and education and maximum <35 hour work weeks. You could say you hate the commie EU because of that high standard of living (which we don’t enjoy in this country). or buy 12 cents worth made of toxic plastic by 8-year-old children working 70 hours a week in China.
To start with, I bought two sets of these. However, they aren’t a mind blowingly great deal. Right now at a large warehouse store you can get an eight pack for $54.98 or $6.87 each. And if you prefer the plaque control head they are actually cheaper than this deal. $44.98 for an eight pack or $5.62 each. Versus these for $5.83 a piece.
@dschonew one other quick note. I swear by Sonicare, have had one model or another since 1998 and have had 0 cavities since then. Fully realizing there are a multitude of factors with oral hygiene, but they make a great product and I think it is a worthwhile toothbrush.
@dschonew yea and either Costco or Sam’s one of them has these w3 in 8 pack for 49.99ish in club price this discount cycle… this still beats the price so I’ll bite.
@dschonew and they are great for gum health. That’s the main benefit I saw after I started using a Sonicare brush. I had some deep pockets (two 5mm and one 6mm), and they are all 3mm at the deepest now.
@troy because together they are really expensive and unless you already have the toothbrush you need to buy both for it to be useful. I wouldn’t have called it sneaky if the toothbrush was sold here and the extra heads over there.
@Kyeh@troy Well then it is great for those folks since they already have sunk costs however for the most part I don’t remember from week to week what they sell. Did they sell the heads on side deal then?
@troy I guess the other thing that I was thinking - why not just sell them as several bundles - brush and heads, brush alone, heads alone. On here. The vmp’s/mehmembers are the only ones who can even initially buy on side deal anyway so having to come back for the toothbrush (if you already didn’t own it) probably means some people are going to skip it. Especially when you start adding up the price and have more time to compare prices elsewhere. While that part isn’t sneak, it likely would reduce sales.
@Kyeh@troy… @craigthom I presume that is sarcasm (either that or you are deciding to make a critical personal comment which is unnecessary) as I have no expectation, I doubt anyone on here has, that I’d want everything sold on meh or even 1/20th of what is sold here (besides who needs that much junk or has that kind of money???). I’ve been on here since a week from the beginning. I am very familiar with the range of stuff they sell which can range from useful to useless to WTF? and everything in between (and fortunately for meh one’s point of view on that can vary across people). They sell what they sell. We can like it or not, make fun of it or not, make a snarky or other kind of comment or not. Makes no difference to most people what folks say about products, snarky or not, unless someone is clarifying information about them/answering questions or providing additional product information/links that can be helpful. Obviously they are making enough money selling what they sell or they’d be going out of business so it doesn’t matter what I, someone who rarely buys, thinks. No need to be nasty with your sarcastic “I’m so sorry” comment based on a false assumption. Sheesh.
So, I’m also a big fan of sonicare, been using them longer than I can remember… was super stoked to get an upgrade in an IRK earlier this year! However, I’m curious on the masses opinion here.
Is there really any benefit to these branded ones Vs. the generic 6 packs you can get on Amazon for like $20 less than this deal?
I’ve been buying those for years now and haven’t personally noticed a difference? Should I get checked for lead poisoning?
@PHRoG I recently got one of the generic six-packs and the current models for sale lack the little steel ring on the base of the brush, which means that the vibration has a tendency to wiggle the brush head clean off of the mount.
The Amazon reviews indicate that this hasn’t always been the case with these cheap replacements.
Does anyone know the difference between these and the 6-Pack: Philips Sonicare Optimal Plaque Control Toothbrush Heads With Brushsync
Model: HX9026/80 I purchased here 6 months ago for $24.99?
The cheap Sonicare I bought from Meh waaay back is long dead and wasn’t worth it. The battery died and isn’t replaceable. I got the comparable Braun model to replace it, and while it’s battery sucks now too it’s lasted a lot longer and I might get another year out of it. Brush heads aren’t compatible, either.
@Telanis Meanwhile, the electric toothbrush I had in my teens ran on a regular rechargeable AA battery and I think I only needed to charge it about four times a year. Non-removeable batteries that are worse in every way at powering the devices they are in are one of the shittiest trends in tech.
As noted, not a great deal on these. I got an 8 pack of these same ones on sidedeal in October 22 for 30 bucks. I thought Meh had better Deals than sidedeal?
I don’t recommend these. They are medium firmness, and every dentist I’ve ever gone to recommend soft Phillips makes soft brush heads, but these aren’t them.
@srbuwsnyc I use the standard brush heads, but I don’t press very hard. I did a quick search and found that Phillips classifies their soft brush heads for “sensitive gums”. Maybe the medium firm bristles is how they say it cleans better?
@srbuwsnyc My dentists have recommended that as well, which I ignore because they are also amazed at how little work my teeth need. I don’t tell them that I have used medium or firm since about 1972.
Not a bad price, if you want these heads. $6.83 apiece, including my (non-member) shipping. However, right now at Costco, you can get an 8-pack of different heads for $6.50 apiece, including shipping.
As a son-of-a-dentist, I concur that soft bristles are the safest bet for protecting your teeth & gums as you clean them.
It’s also worth noting that the quality of the Sonicare handles has declined over the last few years. I still have a working 10-year-old unit, and am dreading having to replace it. Recent reviews in various places have noted a significantly reduced lifespan for the handles…
These are the W3 heads, which Sonicare describes as a head for “specialty brushing” use (whitening and polishing). They recommend the C3 (sold for about the same price at Sam’s and Costco) and other heads for daily use. I don’t know if most (or any) people pay attention to their brush heads, but there you have it.

Oh! It says premium not petroleum.
You think these cost more than 50 cents each to manufacture in quantity?
@phendrick Not a chance. Pure profit on these, and Meh is smoking something if they think this is a deal
@phendrick just gotta add another. 50 cents for the stupid rfid chip they put in each one to annoy the heck out of you when they think you need to change expensive heads…
@phendrick Probably closer to two cents.
@phendrick @werehatrack I know y’all are having fun ranting about ‘the 2-cent Chinese ones are just as good’, and yes these are priced at a hefty premium, and yes they sell the Chinese ones here too at times.

Well I guess these aren’t Dead Heads… meh is smoking something through…because it is sneaky to sell what they are used on over on sidedeal.
@Kidsandliz How’s it sneaky?
@troy because together they are really expensive and unless you already have the toothbrush you need to buy both for it to be useful. I wouldn’t have called it sneaky if the toothbrush was sold here and the extra heads over there.
@Kidsandliz @troy They sold the brush here 3 weeks ago, though.
@Kyeh @troy Well then it is great for those folks since they already have sunk costs however for the most part I don’t remember from week to week what they sell. Did they sell the heads on side deal then?

@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @troy they’ve sold the toothbrushes many times on Meh.
I’m sorry every single thing they sell isn’t for you.
@Kyeh @troy… @craigthom I presume that is sarcasm (either that or you are deciding to make a critical personal comment which is unnecessary) as I have no expectation, I doubt anyone on here has, that I’d want everything sold on meh or even 1/20th of what is sold here (besides who needs that much junk or has that kind of money???). @mokiejovis @PHRoG yes, I have tried several generic brands, and they are all much noisier and vibrate much more — but not in the good way
@PHRoG My teeth are important to me. I’m not willing to take a chance with cheap knockoff brush heads.
They are probably fine, but I’ll spend the money to be sure.
Does anyone know the difference between these and the 6-Pack: Philips Sonicare Optimal Plaque Control Toothbrush Heads With Brushsync
Model: HX9026/80 I purchased here 6 months ago for $24.99?
@phonepole These are MEDIUM, for one thing. Dentists recommend soft.
@phonepole You bought the C2, which is part of their mid-tier lineup:

The cheap Sonicare I bought from Meh waaay back is long dead and wasn’t worth it. The battery died and isn’t replaceable. I got the comparable Braun model to replace it, and while it’s battery sucks now too it’s lasted a lot longer and I might get another year out of it. Brush heads aren’t compatible, either.

@CALIRES It’s been nearly a year since then - these are from a different PO and we can’t always get the same cost
Not a big deal - 8 for 42.00 at BJ’s

@denvette73 @andymand @ohhwell those are C2 heads, essentially their mid-grade offering. These are W3, part of their top dawg line up:
@denvette73 Plus if you buy them anytime in the next month you’ll get 10 cents off per gallon on gas.
I think the IRS already has my W3.
They said something they were going to withhold it.
I don’t recommend these. They are medium firmness, and every dentist I’ve ever gone to recommend soft Phillips makes soft brush heads, but these aren’t them.

Target brand Up & Up heads are just as good and so much cheaper. Don’t bother.
Not a bad price, if you want these heads. $6.83 apiece, including my (non-member) shipping. However, right now at Costco, you can get an 8-pack of different heads for $6.50 apiece, including shipping.

The W3 at Costco and Sam’s Club aren’t that much more, but the packages come with 8 heads, and they also have free shipping.
