@st_ellis I have used cookie cutters (Halloween) for eggs before. Make sure you spray some oil on the cutter before putting the egg in, it helps to clean them better. Also, if you’re using metal ones, be very careful as they can scratch your pan. All that being said, it’s quite fun
@PHRoG@st_ellis You’re supposed to use plastic on a properly seasoned cast iron, to avoid scratching the seasoning. Which was a little surprising when I learned that.
When I was a kid we had a cast iron pan split in half while we were cooking because we had no clue how to properly care for a cast iron pan… yes we used soap, and a dishwasher The only thing my mom made sure of what to make sure it was dried off and not left to soak.
That crack when the pan split was quite the heart jolt
@mbersiam@st_ellis uhhh, what? Plastic on cast iron?!?! What crazed individual suggested this?

^^^ best spatula’s ever!
I learned long ago, fuck the seasoning game…just use it and it’ll season itself! Brand-new ones I’ll sand down to nearly smooth…other than that though, I just use 'em, use soap, steel wool or scotchbrite if needed. Never really have sticking issues other than when I don’t clean them right after cooking…which, happens a fair amount as a full time single parent, lol.
I know I’d be drawn and quartered by the die-hard cast iron seasoning fanatics out there…but, I’ve found it doesn’t really matter even if I scrub it down to bare metal.
I’ve got about 8 skillets I’ve collected over the years and they’re all smooth as glass. Def loving my new lodge carbon steel skillet I got last year too.
Luckilly, I haven’t broke one yet…my favorite go-to skillet does have a small crack forming at the handle/skillet joint that I’m fairly paranoid about…but, hasn’t got any bigger so far.

Do these work, or leak like every other ring egg mold?

Eggcelent.
I never thought about this before, but I’m going to try using some of my Christmas themed cookie cutters next time I make eggs

These work well for homemade english muffins, too!
