@rmeden, they did say, they were better than nuttin, but I just got 2 Mophie [power boost EL, 10,400 mAh port-able chargers] & I got these during the mehethalon, or whatever, and I got them & figured, “What the hell, they’re better than nuttin!” So, I’m guessing I did get some nice ‘better than nuttins’ then the better than nuttins offered here.
@awk which does equal to less than 2,000 pounds,… barely(¿), and it’s basic 5th grade English, Mr awk!! I’m sorry, I just luv light sarcasm & pettiness!!
@ponagathos@zachhh WOW, getting stabbed in either And hurts like Ell!! I was fortunate, I got stabbed in my Elly, close to my Elly- Utton so now I gots 2 Avels!!
@glarue Walmart was dumping candy corn after Halloween. Five pound bags for $1.25. I still have about fourteen pounds of candy corn. Plus, after Christmas, they had various weight mixed chocolates for $1.25 to $2, so I have about 30 lbs of Reese’s, Snickers, Rolos, York and various Hershey’s products.
I have enough candy to ride out this pandemic and the next.
@glarue@macromeh No but I was thinking I could use a basic chocolate chip or sugar cookie recipe and throw some chopped up candy in them. I have been making a lot of muffins recently to go through a gallon size container of whole cranberry I bought before thanksgiving. The muffins would likely work for candy disposal too.
Either way, it is still going to last forever. Not sure about the candy corn but the chocolate stuff is good for years in the freezer.
The pandemic has really activated my hoarding and panic food buying tendencies.
@Syclus Mophie and Anker have a pretty solid track record for charging and battery stuff. I think their retail cast-offs at a discount are most likely better than an anonymously branded equivalent.
@Syclus Mophie makes a lot of solid products, with good design for use and aesthetics. Anker is also good (in response to other comment), but less common on here.
I have over half a dozen Mophie batteries that I cycle through using, especially handy for traveling. The smallest that I have elected to use are 8000 mAh, but most are 10,000 mAh. The limited 3000 mAh capacity is a bit of a bummer for me here, since I have phones and tablets that can chew through these like a bag of cheap candy corn. The physical size for smaller banks doesn’t scale in a linear fashion, so these aren’t much smaller than mine, but I expect the build quality to be quite good. However, the last gripe I have is the one that would stop me from purchase (alongside capacity); ports. USB-A is fine since I have cables for almost everything. But charging via micro-USB is the last thing that I want to keep having to do. I have been trying to shift my batteries and adapters to USB-C for a unified port, and ideally Power Delivery to speed up charging and discharging. I still have some micro-USB stuff around the house, but I won’t add any more without some amazing reason or crazy, extenuating circumstance.
@arosiriak@Syclus I bought some of those magnetic charger adapters for my micro usb and lightning port devices. No fast charge but works for me on iPad, Fire tablets and flashlights.
I’ve said this before but these Mophie slim power banks are super handy if you have any use for them whatsoever because they’re tiny enough to keep in a pocket and forget about until you need one.
Admittedly, 3 Ah isn’t much capacity, and I’m actually surprised that these exist considering I thought the 4 Ah banks were pretty much the low end of what would be considered usable. Then again, those banks are perfect for my use-case which is topping off my smartphone during my break at work; I have the ones with built-in USB-C and micro-USB connectors, and they’re perfectly adequate for what they are. I could see today’s version being useful if you need to use a cable with a USB-A connector instead, either because the other end is a proprietary connector or the built-in ones just aren’t long enough.
Resisted buying 3 more of them for $10 in the mehrathon a couple days ago. They basically work, their capacity might be overstated–I haven’t tried to measure. The suction cups are near useless. The thing is they are a little too big to stick on the back of my phone without covering up the camera. The built-in cable (does both micro usb and lightning with the same connector) is fiddly but usable. There is no USB-A outlet so you have to use the built-in cable for charging and there will be some phones where you are just out of luck because of how the connector is set up. The pack does come with a USB-C adapter though.
So why am I tempted by these Mophies? It’s not clear and I will try to resist. I did get the XXL’s a while ago. They come with an A-to-micro-USB cable that is a straight plug on each end, so you can’t use that cable in, uh, “mophie” style where the pack is on the back of the phone and right-angle connectors keep the plugs somewhat out of the way. Also, like with those Instacharge packs, this pack is also a little too big for my phone.
It would be nice to have an accurate weight for the pack. The small Halo cylindrical packs have an 18650 inside and weigh about 50 grams. A fairly easy thing to tuck with your stuff in case your phone awkwardly runs out of juice someplace, though again there is the issue of needing a cable.
Conclusion: none of these things is really designed properly.
It is discontinued (and it doesn’t appear on Mophie’s site), and its weight is 3.2 oz / 90.2 g. It is also available as a 2-pack for $12 on morningsave, so the savings from buying 4 (especially if don’t actually want that many) is not all that great.

Peanut Butter Oreos!!!
Yeah, but Amazon has it in PURPLE!
@katbyter I was wondering if someone was complaining about this and bam! You were quick on the uptake.
A 4-pack doesn’t mean you’ll always have one ready, it just means you’re that much more of a fool when they’re not.

My quads are pretty powerful too!
In fact it’s 10,800 coulombs of charge, which weighs about 61 micrograms, or 0.000000000067 tons.
@awk Don’t be dense. Please explain that in Klingon, so the rest of the universe can join in the conversation.
@awk which does equal to less than 2,000 pounds,… barely(¿), and it’s basic 5th grade English, Mr awk!! I’m sorry, I just luv light sarcasm & pettiness!!
Do we really need more power banks? Bring back the knives!
@ponagathos as I read this, I had a crappy meh knife in my left and and now I need to think about my life choices. For the third time today. It’s 1am.
@ponagathos @zachhh WOW, getting stabbed in either And hurts like Ell!! I was fortunate, I got stabbed in my Elly, close to my Elly- Utton so now I gots 2 Avels!!
Meh hasn’t sold candy corn in a while. I kind of miss it!

@glarue @ponagathos Have any good recipes for candy cornbread?
@glarue @ponagathos, here is something you might want to consider:
@glarue @macromeh No but I was thinking I could use a basic chocolate chip or sugar cookie recipe and throw some chopped up candy in them. I have been making a lot of muffins recently to go through a gallon size container of whole cranberry I bought before thanksgiving. The muffins would likely work for candy disposal too.

@glarue @macromeh @ponagathos That actually sounds good - it might be kind of like butterscotch chips. If you try it please post how it turns out!
@glarue @macromeh @ponagathos, I have DIY concoction for an infectant for a toilet bowl!! How bout that; wanna trade crap¿?
Meh really likes Mophie huh

@zachhh I know, I never said I was hating on them. I have a Mophie powerstaion XXL myself.
@arosiriak @Syclus I bought some of those magnetic charger adapters for my micro usb and lightning port devices. No fast charge but works for me on iPad, Fire tablets and flashlights.
@Syclus Mophie gang unite!
@Syclus Yeah, I have a liking for Morphine, so,…just saying. Well it’s 11:09PM CST; time to go sprinkle a little sarcasm on some meh fan!!
Weight: 0.031 lb, or about 14 grams. Those are pretty light.

Back in 2015 I bought a 12,000 Ah charging brick for $10. This seems decent though as they are pretty light
OMG more power banks. I have several of these:

Nice and sleek. But we already have stacks of power banks sitting at the ready. No more. Unless…
