But, as the American Dental Association warns, it is likely that non-dentist-approved charcoal powder or toothpaste is too abrasive, which may cause enamel erosion.
Colgate’s is dentist-approved and not too abrasive apparently.
@darkzrobe@KevinS10@mandirose Charcoal is too abrasive. Not only are you damaging enamel, you are at a high risk of damaging dentin. Anything above a RDA score of 250 is extremely dangerous for teeth and anything above 200 is risky. Peroxide is 100% safe for enamel and should be your only choice for whitening.
@DavidChurchRN I use it and found it works better than anything else out there. I am a hardcore Dr pepper drinker and it stains teeth, but I’m not willing to give Dr pepper up. The usual teeth whiteners left my teeth sensitive and was painful, where this doesn’t make my teeth sensitive at all. I’ve been using activated charcoal for about two years and my dentist always comments on how good my enamel looks. My experience isn’t scientific, but it is my experience. ~Shrugs~
@TBoneZeOriginal But that other item has a lot of ingredients. This one is only charcoal.
Anyway, IDK why I’m defending it. I don’t think it’s a good idea to buy it, just trying to remain objective, I guess. I think it’s mainly a bad idea bc of the whole enamel-destroying possibility this stuff has.

Sorry but I avoid putting anything from China in or on my body whenever possible. Even argued with my insurance company to switch pharmacies / mfg of pills when I learned they were from China (went with Indian which has less of shitty track record).
Chinese manufactures and their quality control have proven repeatedly they don’t give a shit about human health or life, only making $$ at the expense of everything else.
Maybe we’ll learn something from this shortage of critical medical supplies like not depending on foreign companies for items / substances that are crucial in emergencies.
@ponagathos@RedOx I actually saw this or something similar at Dollar Tree yesterday. I didn’t note the number of grams in the jars, but 30g isn’t very much.
Charcoal is abrasive and can easily damage the enamel, which is permanent. Effective, non-damaging, alternatives are brushing with baking soda and once-a-day rinsing with 50-50 diluted drug-store (3%) hydrogen peroxide.
@haydesigner you have it exactly backwards there friend. Burden of proof is on the company to prove it’s safe and effective. But you are welcome to use it on your own teeth…
“Instructions don’t say…?” You mean they don’t. Derp.
“Cheaper than going to the dentist.” Um yeah, so is flossing and brushing regularly w/ fluoride toothpaste!

Instructions don’t say if you do it before or after brushing your teeth? But so far I can’t really tell if it’s working or not.

And now some first hand, non-assumption making, amazon review dependent dribble.
I’ve tried charcoal powder before. It works. my teeth were clearly whiter in just a few days. My gums however were a wreck. You could see they were shredded, almost jagged against my whiter teeth.
Wow, you can have a barbecue in your mouth! Just brush with this, light it, let it heat up, put the meat (after applying a good rub) in, let it smoke for 10 - 12 hours, and then chew and swallow! No need to bother with a grill! And you’ve whitened your teeth at the same time. It doesn’t get any better than this! Thanks, meh!
I actually use this stuff on recommendation from a dentist. This will be the first responsible Meh that I followed through with. Maybe it’s time to quit.
( frigid-fantastic-fox ) I must be freaking crazy, temporarily out of a job with lotta crazy shit going down and I’m buying charcoal tooth polish??? I think I seriously need help, you can tell I’ve got my priorities totally in check…

Black powder whitens teeth? What a country!

I am pretty sure charcoal is not good for teeth health.
https://www.colgate.com/en-us/oral-health/cosmetic-dentistry/teeth-whitening/charcoal-teeth-whitening-dangers
But maybe that is what big toothepaste wants us to think?
@darkzrobe Colgate makes charcoal toothpaste now…just saying
@darkzrobe @mandirose They have that covered
Colgate’s is dentist-approved and not too abrasive apparently.

My gut feeling is that this is going to demineralize your teeth, hard pass.
Idk how they can say it whitens teeth when there’s absolutely no scientific evidence to back that up at all.

I thought it was snuff at first lol
Brought to you by the people who read cat entrails!
Ringing endorsement there, Meh.
All ingredients come from China, according to Amazon. Do with that information what you will.
@TBoneZeOriginal I thought the Amazon link was for a similar product. Different manufacturer, etc.
@TBoneZeOriginal EVERYTHING comes from China. When I first arrived in this country I passed a sign “Welcome to America, made in China”
@OnionSoup I buy a lot from China… but not if it goes in my mouth.
@mehvid1 It is, but given the very similar artwork, I think it’s safe to assume it’s the same product with a slightly different label.
@TBoneZeOriginal But that other item has a lot of ingredients. This one is only charcoal.

No way in HELL I’m putting this discounted crap on my teeth lol
@Stallion yeah, but it’s activated discount crap!
@Stallion demented crap!
I’m a buyer when it’s a four pack of mystery coal for $20 in a week or two.
@nine876 Still bitter about those drones, too?
Can I use charcoal to start a fire? I may need this when civilization crumbles completely.
@hchavers or add some salt peter and sulphur for a little more punch

@RedOx what, this one?

@RedOx Not to mention it is less than two bucks shipped directly from China. This has got to be the worst deal here ever.
@ponagathos @RedOx It’s even cheaper straight from the mortuary.
@ponagathos @RedOx I actually saw this or something similar at Dollar Tree yesterday. I didn’t note the number of grams in the jars, but 30g isn’t very much.

This is beyond Meh, This is dangerous.
So many ringing endorsements here in the Comments… Still on the fence about buying this.
Hell. Meh just decided to offer Wednesday’s item early.
@gertiestn I was thinking the same, but them double checked the date… This is not funny though
So, two months VMP down the drain. Seriously considering canceling it at this point. This site has gone from meh to shit.
Doesn’t someone say this like every two months?
@haydesigner We need to find that person and stop them!
You’d have to be insane to purchase this.
@daveinwarsh Okay I’ll do it!
@daveinwarsh (J/k. I’m with you on this one and not just bc we share a first name.)
I use charcoal to cook my food, not clean my teeth, or freshen my stools.
you could grind this up and use it as snuff too
Meh, in all seriousness, take this offer down. It seems dangerous and outright negligent on your part.
People, please don’t buy this!
@robson, “seems dangerous”…? You’re going to have to provide proof for that claim.
@haydesigner you have it exactly backwards there friend. Burden of proof is on the company to prove it’s safe and effective. But you are welcome to use it on your own teeth…
@robson, umm… you’re the one who made the claim. And you’re the one who demanded action based on that claim.
According to ye olde Groupon reviews:
“Instructions don’t say…?” You mean they don’t. Derp.
“Cheaper than going to the dentist.” Um yeah, so is flossing and brushing regularly w/ fluoride toothpaste!

I love brushing my teeth with grandma’s ashes.
@ElieC Very Keith Richards of you.
The photo of the lady with a black smile cracks me up.
uh, yeah, no

It works but isn’t worth it. Skip this one.
Just a thought.
Drill a few holes in the lid of one of these, might be a decent way to remove odors from a small room without any cover-up scents.
Probably cheaper ways to desmell a room, but activated charcoal works well.
I’d rather do that than put it in my mouth.
I cut out the middleman and simply chew directly on a briquette. Simples.
PS - for those of you looking to make extra cash while on corn teen - consider making and selling stock photos.
Ferinstance - there are currently zero results for “man chewing on charcoal briquette” - so there’s a freebee for ya…

@haydesigner That looks dangerous. That one car is making an unsafe lane change.

@eeterrific<-this person is having a grand ol’ time stuck inside.
I actually use this stuff on recommendation from a dentist. This will be the first responsible Meh that I followed through with. Maybe it’s time to quit.
This is probably ashes from all the cremations in China! Wonder if it has any antibodies left to fight CoVid19!
Now I know where all the soot from the back alley Mumbai scrap recyclers is going.
I’m kinda going to miss the “V” shield, but not that much…goodbye VMP!
Now you have something better.
They interviewed some local dentists on the news and they didn’t have anything nice to say about charcoal dentifrice. ADA’s not hot on it either. https://www.mouthhealthy.org/en/az-topics/w/natural-teeth-whitening
And it’s on Meh. Surprised?
@Dog19026 Even worse, I gave some of this to my Cousin John last Christmas and here’s the results https://images.app.goo.gl/vYdExXTuQdWKD6kAA
( frigid-fantastic-fox ) I must be freaking crazy, temporarily out of a job with lotta crazy shit going down and I’m buying charcoal tooth polish??? I think I seriously need help, you can tell I’ve got my priorities totally in check…
It’s not a great show brushing your teeth with it. Had a try once, never done it again!
Pretty good feeling… Super messy… preferred place to brush my teeth with this stuff…In the shower…
