@Hopkins3030 I have several, on a separate circuit next to the sleeve for an in-wall A/C unit. Not trying to suggest these would be useful for an A/C, but meh-be?
Do these attach to the wall or socket with any extra anchor? The big boxes that just plug in don’t really seem to stay on the wall well when it’s just by plug in my experience.
It is hard to tell from the pix, but it looks like plugging one of these into either of the sockets of a standard duplex outlet will block the other socket, meaning that at best each of these turn two outlets into three (plus the two USB). I’ll see if I can find any other pix…
@baqui63 You’re right, I came here to say this. The plug is on the bottom half of the unit, and it looks like it’s a little higher than the outlets on the front so it probably covers both outlets whether it’s plugged into the top or the bottom.
So you get 4 new outlets and 8 USB plugs.
Unless you have any of those weirdo single outlets.
@baqui63 Alternately hovering over the two pix on this ebay auction for the same item makes me think the bottom on the thing will cover the other outlet, but who knows for sure.
@altoidbox@djslack@ltruelove If “he” refers to me, I do have several single socket (aka simplex) outlets which are separate 20A circuits for in-wall A/C units.
Note however that I would not use these three-outlet-plus-two-USB-thingies in any of my simplex outlets, primarily because these things are rated for only 15A.
I was talking about these things covering both sockets of a standard duplex outlet, which is unfortunate because it means that at best it adds a single socket to a duplex outlet, but for things that are wider than a standard plug, it only adds the two USB and the surge suppressor.
@JT954 I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw this. The swivel feature of the Volt model is so nice.
Come on, Meh, it’s been a year. I expect to see bigger and better products. Not inferior ones.
I was just composing a revised list of Arizona related items which are not toxic, poisonous, harmful, deadly, or can sting, bit, maime, kill, decapitate, electrocute, or otherwise cause physical, mental, emotional, or psychological harm.
I don’t see anything on the packaging about these being UL certified, can anyone from Meh shed some light? I don’t put a lot of faith in surge protectors that aren’t UL certified.
Anyone else follow the “Price Comparison” link and notice it is a new seller with no ratings yet? What and why it that? Not trying to stir anything up, but that just seems odd. Not much of a comp IMHO, but of course “what say you?”
@dlw65 Half of what Meh offers has the same problem. I have commented before wondering if Meh is the one selling on Amazon. If so, at least they are not also making fake reviews.
I just drank a glass of that CRASH supplement I received from meh today. According to internet, I should be really really relaxed by 10:30pm. Let the games begin.
@ponagathos 10:50pm and def feeling it. Takes longer to set in. Different feeling then melatonin. Realy feeling it behind my eyeballs, like they are getting heavy. Taste was pretty bad, like a weak cough syrup. But yeah, it works, goodnight everyone.
Tempting but outlets have minimal spacing - highly doubt three plugs could be wedged in side by side. There is no offer for reimbursement should your electronic whatevers get fried. Most importantly of all, the family joules need waaaay more than 300…
I’d buy these if they were the kind where you can turn the sockets to the side and if the plugs were spaced out they’re too close together will only be able to fit two of my PC plugs in these
@djslack anyone can put anything they want…esp. in China…Anything that has the capability of creating a disaster I don’t have it China made…esp. from a new listing.
@frozenshades@goldnectar and with the chicken thermometers you get food poisoning if you aren’t careful. This could be fun - use the fire to finish cooking the chicken.
@CosmicTwister Four for $20 vs one for $11.99… I’m trying to see the advantage to the more spendy one and the only thing I can come up with is that I’d be able to purchase the $11.99 one after 6 AM EDT tomorrow. (I am VMP and I doubt these will sell out.)

Where do the batteries go?
@shahnm IN THE FRIDGE!!!
@yakkoTDI
/giphy Winner!
Uh…
Isn’t it 8 USB ports?
@PlacidPenguin no idea what you’re talking about.
@dave
I still have that tab open.
Today, I am Heman!
If only someone had some Hubmen to go with this.
Let’s see - multiply 2 USB ports per outlet by 4 additional ports per hubman . . .
@kdemo [joke about hubmen having to pay cash, because if you plug in a phone, they don’t charge]
/giphy uproarious laughter
@kdemo And if they were lucky enough to get multiple hubmen in their fuko…say four…I’m sorry, I can’t do the math…
I’m so joulous!
I could use one. How about 1-for-Wednesday?
The meh button looks a liiiittttlleee like Hitler. Just sayin
@wankan12 it looks like a sad clown to me.
@wankan12 Yeah… I saw that too, but didn’t want to be the first to comment on that.
/giphy Fuck Hitler
@wankan12 -
So, do these NOT cover both outlets on a duplex? WhoInTheHell has an outlet that’s a single plug??
@Hopkins3030 I have several, on a separate circuit next to the sleeve for an in-wall A/C unit. Not trying to suggest these would be useful for an A/C, but meh-be?
@Hopkins3030
They’re not that uncommon.
Do these attach to the wall or socket with any extra anchor? The big boxes that just plug in don’t really seem to stay on the wall well when it’s just by plug in my experience.
@spiciernoodles Anything can become anchored if you shove a nail through it.
@frozenshades @spiciernoodles This is how my first marriage ended.
@danman940 @spiciernoodles but I’m sure your mantle looked amazong
@frozenshades @spiciernoodles Or use enough duct tape.

@baqui63 Alternately hovering over the two pix on this ebay auction for the same item makes me think the bottom on the thing will cover the other outlet, but who knows for sure.
@baqui63 @djslack I was thinking the same thing, I can’t remember ever seeing a single outlet fixture on any wall.
@djslack Wouldn’t you still be getting an extra two outlets by plugging this into a single?
@djslack @ltruelove I think he’s saying he doesn’t have any single outlets. I don’t either, and I’ve never lived in a home that had one.
@altoidbox @djslack @ltruelove If “he” refers to me, I do have several single socket (aka simplex) outlets which are separate 20A circuits for in-wall A/C units.

@baqui63 @djslack @ltruelove I was actually referring to djslack. But I don’t know any of you people, so maybe I should watch my pronouns.
Bought these from Meh about a year ago so I’m good.
@JT954 I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw this. The swivel feature of the Volt model is so nice.
Come on, Meh, it’s been a year. I expect to see bigger and better products. Not inferior ones.
@JT954 @rework like chicken thermometers?
USB…2.1A total output. So you wouldn’t be charging 2 tablets at one time…unless you had all night, correct? But I suppose that’s the norm…
Well, you’re half way there. Gimme 6 plugs per outlet and we got a deal!
@ruouttaurmind
You only need one outlet to provide electric to a cactus though.
@PlacidPenguin True enough, but watt about all these tumbleweeds?
@ruouttaurmind
I’d star that post, but I don’t like wordplay.
@PlacidPenguin That hertz. You’re not being farad. I amp just having some fun!
@ruouttaurmind
I was just composing a revised list of Arizona related items which are not toxic, poisonous, harmful, deadly, or can sting, bit, maime, kill, decapitate, electrocute, or otherwise cause physical, mental, emotional, or psychological harm.
So much for sending it though.
@ruouttaurmind Provided one could rig those so they wouldn’t be stolen out of the yard they’d be pretty cool to have.
@Kidsandliz I’d be less worried about thieves and more concerned with vandals.
@ruouttaurmind
Sounds like you need some coral snakes.
I don’t see anything on the packaging about these being UL certified, can anyone from Meh shed some light? I don’t put a lot of faith in surge protectors that aren’t UL certified.
@harveydanger my guess is that if they were, they’d have made some space near that ETL logo to say so.
Leviton says that they use ETL rather than UL because they are faster, and that they are equivalent Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories.
@harveydanger
No, but they’re ETL certified…
@djslack
Heh. Was just looking at that about Leviton.
@harveydanger They are ETL Certified, which basically means the same thing as UL Certified. You can read one article about the about the differences in these certifications here: http://info.triadmagnetics.com/blog/ul-certification-vs.-etl-certification
(And I see I’m way late to this party.)
@djslack Thanks (and thanks to everyone else that answered), that’s helpful.
@baqui63
Thanks for the info link! Nicely explained.

I’ve never heard of this brand. Are they trustworthy with electricity?
@TheTallMan are they trustworthy with not burning down my house is more like it…

@dlw65 Half of what Meh offers has the same problem. I have commented before wondering if Meh is the one selling on Amazon. If so, at least they are not also making fake reviews.
Meh. I’d be in if they had the anchor screw in the middle.
@phatmass Exactly. What good are the safety covers if the entire unit can just be pulled out of the outlet?
“his coffee regiment”? Is this where you group your mocha-filled cups into batallions before marching into war?
@pafloogled
Actually, there were several regiments known as Coffee Regiments; see http://www.missouridivision-scv.org/mounits/coffee6mocav.htm for instance.
But I think you are correct in describing a malapropism.
Personally, I follow a coffee regimen several times a day.
I just drank a glass of that CRASH supplement I received from meh today. According to internet, I should be really really relaxed by 10:30pm. Let the games begin.
@kylejwilke You are on the west coast. You are supposed to be relaxed already.
@ponagathos relaxception. This holds true, one exception is fuko bag days.
I imagine they will be ever-so-slightly useful.

@surfeit yup bulky 3 prong plugs such as those for PCs will only fit in two of them these are made for those smaller 2 prong
I’d buy these if they were the kind where you can turn the sockets to the side and if the plugs were spaced out they’re too close together will only be able to fit two of my PC plugs in these
Meh.

Wait, is he sticking a screwdriver into the socket in the last pic? Does this mean that the Safety Locks are defective?
NO UL…NO GO!

@fastharry ETL tests use UL standards.
@fastharry this was gone over fairly thoroughly last night… The ETL certification is equivalent.
@djslack anyone can put anything they want…esp. in China…Anything that has the capability of creating a disaster I don’t have it China made…esp. from a new listing.
@fastharry Your preference is fine, but by that logic, why wouldn’t someone who could put anything they want just print a UL logo then?
@djslack i would trust a usa maker to not do that before i trusted a chinese company…
@fastharry Because no American company has ever falsified UL listings? Federal Pacific StabLok, anyone?

Just Be Nice
Price: $19.00
Condition: Probably New
@Dengue @fastharry @narfcake That a little harsh isn’t it @Dengue?
@Dengue smart enough not to buy them…
@fastharry @narfcake @therealjrn Oh, I was just being silly. I’ve never been the type to actually check for that type of thing though. No fires yet!
Don’t you trust meh though?
3 outlets and 2 USB ports hung on one three prong? That looks safe…
only thing making these deal more sketch would be a $0 price tag. fire hot! pass.
@goldnectar Umm welcome to the next chicken thermometer fuko item?
@goldnectar @Kidsandliz YOU GET AN ELECTRICAL FIRE! AND YOU GET AN ELECTRICAL FIRE!
@frozenshades @goldnectar and with the chicken thermometers you get food poisoning if you aren’t careful. This could be fun - use the fire to finish cooking the chicken.
This is what it would look like to plug this into an Illinois outlet. Plug anything into it and it will fall out of the wall.
@SoftAsFur Look how close those sockets are! my plugs would only fit 2 into those sockets, lol. But hey.
@SoftAsFur Whatever do you mean by an “Illinois outlet”? Google says it’s a store that sells crappily-made merch for cruddy prices.
@PhysAssist building code in Illinois has all oulets Horizontal… unlike the rest of the country where your outlets are Vertical.
/giphy modest-conscious-cleric
Meh is now the Outlet for outlets? I’m out…
Meh?
@CosmicTwister Four for $20 vs one for $11.99… I’m trying to see the advantage to the more spendy one and the only thing I can come up with is that I’d be able to purchase the $11.99 one after 6 AM EDT tomorrow. (I am VMP and I doubt these will sell out.)
@baqui63 @CosmicTwister Wrongo Keebler, it was sold out when I arrived at 17:20 EST.
@baqui63 @CosmicTwister @PhysAssist Well done, @snapster.

@CosmicTwister @PhysAssist True… it sold out!
Oh HECC I missed it
Hope the charging points work on these the last meh surge supressors I bought the outlets worked but the chargers did not.

I missed a sale I want , can I go back and buy it? I’m going to take a wild guess and say no. But still, no harm in asking.
/8ball Can @da5id403 go back in time to buy a past deal?
My sources say no
Bought these - the first one I used worked fantastically, the other one, the USB port didn’t work, the other 2 are waiting for the judgement day.
@amandapaigem Contact Support if you haven’t done so yet.
