Yay! I’ve been eating Nugo Dark Chocolate protein bars almost every day for a gazillion years, so I am thrilled to see them on Meh. Much cheaper here than at Whole Paycheck or buying direct from Nugo.
@heartny have you been eating the organic version, or the non-organic one? It appears that the organic ones have a tendency to be somewhat rock-like according to some of the reviews on Amazon.
@werehatrack Actually, I usually eat the non-organic version, the Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip. I occasionally get the organic version when the chocolate chip is not available, but they are more expensive and I think a little smaller. I wouldn’t say they are rock-like, but maybe a bit chewier.
This is a high quality product & an exceptional value that often sells individually for 3-4 dollars at some stores. A case of 12 at WF runs like $22. The best flavor health wise is Dbl Chocolate Mint IIRC 17g protein & 7 or 8g sugar. Scoffers are free to stuff their gobs with canned cranberry sauce and choco chips instead.
They look good, and certainly raise a chocolate jones. But high added sugar (~25% of calories) and the addition of lecithin, gum acacia, and maltodextrin make them a “No Go” for the gastrointestinally-challenged.
Good Protein bars should have higher PROTEIN & LOWER CARBS. These have Net 22-24 carbs & only 10 grams Protein… I had gastric bypass surgery in 2007. I can only tolerate ATKINS PROTEIN MEAL BARS (& SHAKES). Right now eating a Atkins Chocolate peanut butter protein meal bar NET CARBS 3 grams// PROTEIN 16 grams.
Nope, once again not showing the awful ingredience list because of the excessive sugar etc! Come on MEH do the right thing, your customers want to know.

So it has natural pesticides, hormones, and/or antibiotics?
@werehatrack and those “plant proteins” are the natural byproduct of the vegetable oil extraction using naturally occurring industrial solvents.
Was this supposed to be Nut Goo?
Wait, what, a stale date that’s a year away? How did this end up on Meh?
@werehatrack That’s what i was wondering… They must be terrible!
@werehatrack Probably because the box tastes better than the contents
@ircon96 @werehatrack that’s my thought… vegan cholocate means no milk fat… that’s got to be wretched.
My pocket steaks travel very well thank you very much.
Its got soy. We don’t do soy any more except for occasional tiny bits of soy sauce…

@heartny if you had to describe them in 100 words or more, what would you say?

@mexicantacos How about less than 100 words? They are kind of like chocolate coated Rice Krispie Treats, maybe a bit denser.
It doesn’t help that I’m sitting here wishing I had something chocolate…

Meh, there is more added sugar in this protein bar than there is protein.

I had my first one of these today, and it was surprisingly tasty!
-Surprising to me anyway, since I just read the ingredients after I ate it. These really are not much better than candy bars.

All three boxes of bars were hard as rocks!!
