@hchavers The fact that these are marketed toward parents of kids tells me that at least some token attempt must have been made to render them non-revolting. The same is emphatically not always true for “superfood” items marketed to adults. Worst class of offender as a whole, IMO, is the nutritional drink concoctions like AG1.
Similar. Got them in the last Meh. They were cheap, seemed nutritious and we were running out of the Kind bars (that were actually pretty good). These are NOT good. But… They’re not bad. They kind of taste like stale Pop Tarts.
That said, the kid won’t eat them, so this has been my high-fiber breakfast for the last three months. I’m old. At least I’m saving a buck.
I bought the variety pack a few months ago and the consensus in my family is they’re pretty bad. Some flavors are worse than others with the strawberry being one of the worst. Definitely edible but very dry and minimal flavor. Tastes like a nutrigrain bar with no filling.
These are actually pretty decent (assuming you don’t mind a lightly-sweetened-fruity-cardboard flavor). I bought them for my little nieces & nephew but ended up enjoying them myself. The nutrient profile is pretty decent and I sometimes will have one before a workout for some healthy carbs.
If you’re worried about these tasting great, this isn’t the clean/healthy snack you want. These are actually good ingredients. The Yuka app lists this at 100/100 - the highest rating of any snack I’ve ever bought.
That said, they’re edible and tolerable as an adult male in his 40s. I can’t speak to the kiddo-eatability, but I doubt if you dipped it in chocolate they’d care.
I am often unable to take more than a few minute break when I get hungry at work. Sometimes I skip breakfast. Most power bars work to keep me going but have very little fiber. To me, this is the perfect bar. I can eat a few and keep going without feeling like I ate too much sugar, among other things. They’re actually good for you! They can be a little dry. I like the flavor, it’s very natural and I’d rather have something mild tasting rather than over flavored. Am about to order my 3rd case of 90. Hopefully it’s a deal over on side deal for a long time
@trybyk I’m still finding BeVita soft baked breakfast bars lying around. They’re very edible, possibly even sweeter, despite being two years past the sell-by dates.
They’re also very filling (8 out of the 50g of the bar is fat, which makes up for 10% of the USDA’s recommended daily intake; 4/50 is fiber and 9/50 are sugar, making up 14% of the USDA’s RDI for each).
@pakopako@trybyk I am personally convinced that the US RDI figures are calculated to serve the needs of the stockholders of Archer Daniels Midland more so than the dietary needs of the American public.
I was into BeVita for a while, I like that these are made from organic ingredients and I don’t think they add sugar. Feels like I am replacing a meal with what could be considered a healthy breakfast.
Since I didn’t like these much myself - they taste, to me, like sawdust held together with fruit glue - I brought them to work to “share” with my coworkers. We have nicknamed them “desperation bars.” One coworker described them as: “if you found fig newtons on the ground in the apocalypse they would taste like these.” Apparently they’re a little better with peanut butter on them.

Cerebellum bars?
Cute little strawberry meh face today
They’ve got mushrooms, for those who wouldn’t think to look for that.
Kale and Beets for toddlers? I see your trying to teach them about terrible “super” foods early.

Triple the order and more flavors over at side deal.

@katbyter Whoa! Thank you for mentioning this! Getting a variety pack there now!
I bought these on sidedeal, they’re just ok. Not great, not terrible, so I guess that makes them pretty meh. Perfect!
@robson

I assume Smart bars are Mac compatible. They might even work in a margarita.
@iluivatar Actual smart bars know what flavor of margarita you’re going to want, and have it ready when you arrive.
I first read this to be CAREbelly and my immediate thought was if you care about your belly size don’t eat these.
Meh. Pass. Also meh for the strawberry, to which I’m allergic. And meh for the kale, which I just don’t like.
Are these with or without mold?
@laurengx3 Yes.
@laurengx3 Without mold – we clarify that in the specs:
@laurengx3 @troy That letter is no longer available for viewing online.
Why would you ruin strawberry with beets?? Beets are God’s joke: Sweet dirt flavor.
@Zott
I love beets
@Zott I also love beets, but you can’t really taste the beets or kale in these bars
I don’t buy things that have “smart” in the name.
@IAMIS very smart.

@evan97tj See? Now you are smarter!

Are they made with free-range organic toddlers?
@merichmond The important thing is that no animals were harmed in making these…

Bleh!
Nasty
Gross. Gross. Extra gross. And hard. Not in the good way. Also- gross.
Great
