@radi0j0hn@rustyh3 I was one of the few, the proud, the AV Geeks back in 6th grade. I got to bask in the envy of my lesser classmates as I cooly exited the classroom during lessons to go set up and show films on the aging B&H projectors. I sat there during the films with my roll of tape, ready to jump into action and splice the film if it happened to break, not wanting to deprive the rapt pointy-headed little 2nd graders of the dramatic climax of such educational classics as “Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom”. I imagine I was like a god to them.
Guarantee they won’t hold well. I’ve tried several types and just recently found one that actually works. It hooks around the fin in the vent and has a knob to turn to ratchet it tight. It uses a gravity design instead of these type of spring loaded clamps. I can’t recommend it enough.
I have a similar thing for when I (use to) travel and rent cars. The one I use has adjustable clamps. Looks like these grab the air vents with unmovable clamps. These are known to tear up the plastic vents. So make the company pay for it. They sent you out into Covid danger.
I wish they made there that either you could lower it below the vent or raise it above the vent. I don’t want hot or cold air blocked. Not to mention what it may or may not do to one’s phone.
@Kidsandliz While I get your point and agree with it during the winter…
Last week, my phone shut down due to excessive heat, just after I entered a maze of twisty little streets, all alike to avoid an accident on the highway. The timing couldn’t have been better… I looked over at the phone to see why it wasn’t telling me to turn right and watched it shut down.
I pulled over, took the phone out of its case and held it in front of a vent for a few minutes to cool it down, then drove the rest of the way thru the maze while holding the phone to the vent.
@Kidsandliz When I’m on week 6 of 100 degree plus temperatures i dont need anything blocking my air vents! How about a deal on a really good dash mount phone holder?
Two days of sex toys, and now mounting phones, as well as geese? Is this a trend to continue? (And more animal porn from @mediocrebot, too?)
I want my innocence back…
These things are only practical when you have cool or cold air coming out of your dash vents. That’s like 2 months out of the year here in the NE. My cell phone loves being cooled down but shuts down if it gets warmed up.
@Jonas4321 Who are you people who can stand to have hot air blowing on your face? When I switch to hot I have it blow out down on my feet or the defrost/windshield vents, not out the top vents.
@DonWhiteside@Jonas4321 OK You’re both right. Normally, it’s like ‘hot air blowing at me, no thanks!’ But in those days when the temp is below 0, and that can be either 0 C or 0 F both are cold (but one is colder…), the warm air to help re-thaw your fingers and other stuff is really welcome. In those times it’s usually early in the morning and nobody should be calling me anyway, so my phone is in a bag next to me, or on a non-slip thing on the dash. And I have a real GPS suction-cupped to the window, except it tends to drop off when it gets really cold and the rubbery thing freezes. So I guess I still need a solution, but don’t think this is it.
These work really well if they fit properly. You need to have a solid vent grill with a flat face. Floppy vents are no good (obv) and i don’t like how much movement there is without some supporting structure behind the phone (hence needing a flat face).
These work well in my car, my dad’s truck, and my GFs SUV! They’re nigh-unusable in my Jeep (floppy vents).

Get a grip Meh!
OH MY GOD THEY CUT GLEN UP INTO LITTLE BITS AND MOUNTED THE PARTS ON A WALL!!!
I only have 1 car and 1 phone; WHY would I need 3??
@IndifferentDude They don’t last very long…?
@IndifferentDude Oh. That was a rhetorical question. Never mind, then.
@IndifferentDude Stocking stuffers.
@IndifferentDude @shahnm Just suppose there were no rhetorical questions?
@IndifferentDude @rpstrong Then please refer to my first reply and ignore my second.
Oh. That was another rhetorical question. Never mind, then.
for when you have 3 cars but also don’t want to spend a lot on a phone holder
@omally Also for when you live in a hot and humid state and want to make sure your phone gets maximum condensation.
@omally @yakkoTDI And you get minimum air conditioning… or fry your phone in the winter as it gets maximum heat and you get none.
Haven’t they squeezed the last drop out that fine old American company’s name? You’ve got to be at least 70 to recall what they originally sold.
@radi0j0hn Come on, not even 60 and I know it was cameras.
@bfg9000 @radi0j0hn You mean those things on the backs of cellphones?
@radi0j0hn Military helicopters? Cloned Apple ][s? Cameras? I probably have at least three B&H things in my basement.
@baqui63 @radi0j0hn Is it really a clone if Apple manufactured it for them?
@radi0j0hn Projectors? Seem to remember a slide projector and film strip projectors. Maybe my aunt had an 8mm movie projector.

AINOPE Car Phone Holder Mount… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089LDX88M
@cinoclav I highly, highly second this!
@cinoclav Actually I got a similar item that has a magnetic mount, but still grabs onto the vent blade and ratchets tight.

@shahnm Looks like the same rear mechanism. It’s very well thought out.
@cinoclav I don’t have this brand, but very similar. Look down for my comment. I mean down the page.
@cinoclav @shahnm
But will you still be as enthusiastic when you are no longer high?
@cinoclav @macromeh Wha?!? I don’t understand this question. Duuude.

There’s a few I’ll mount. My phone is not one of those. Enough said
Seriously, vent clips never work

@JinksB Yes I agree!!!

@phendrick Two days of sex toys? I have concerns.
@phendrick @yeppers
Two days of sex toys, offered by Meh.
@phendrick Seeing the post above I wonder if this is a drunken post?
@yakkoTDI No, I was just sleepy when editing and managed to post a second version of an earlier post, and didn’t notice.
More “Bell + Howell” Chinese junk.
Every time I see a meh email, I say a little prayer. “No more clutter. Only get it if you REALLY need it…”
And then always
/giphy circular-tedious-hen
Wow, I haven’t hit the Meh button in a while. I guess today is the day.

@DonWhiteside at 10 above it’s my fingertips that need the heat, vents are a real good place to get them warmed.

Hey, the blue ones match my car!
I’m still not buying them.
@lisagd Same here, on both counts.
$12 item, $6 shipping. Sad Face
