As someone who tries to use a headlamp every evening to feed and check on the animals… please, please work. I’m so tired of doing stuff in the dark because I’m getting swarmed by bugs.
@kalma The thing about bug zappers is they attract bugs before they kill them. You do not want this anywhere near you. If you want to use a bug zapper place it 100 to 120 feet away from where people will be.
We bought a two pack of something similar from Costco a while back. It works as in there are dead bugs in it but it’s not yet full mosquito season so I don’t yet know how it works for those.
@butkus Re Battery: Twist off top cover, then twist off the interior cap to expose battery compartment. If battery is inserted, you will need to remove the protective covering. If not already inside, place the included battery into the comportment and replace the lid. (Tip: the battery is not marked so if it does not work simply flip the battery over)
@be2u@butkus Pulled out paper from battery, charged up till red light went out. Nada. Will not turn on. What am I doing wrong? Edit, I’ve tried flipping the battery over as well.
Just wanted to point out, you can still turn it all on and stuff while it’s charging. If you’re concerned it’s not going to work after you get done charging. (This also works while the piece of plastic is blocking the battery)
I also came on to find out if anyone else was having the same problem, but I figured it out on my own when, on the second try of looking at the battery, the piece of plastic fell out of the top.
Oh well. Didn’t want to test it out tonight anyway.
Mine will not charge or power on after following all instructions concerning removing protector and flipping battery. Red light comes on indicating charging, but never completes the charging session (stays red).

Update on above comment. I got the overall response indicating that the customer service guy doesn’t think I’ve read the manual or tried the options for getting this thing to work. IT DOES NOT WORK. No amount of battery flippage or plastic disk removal has corrected the issues with this unit which will not power on. Hopefully I’m not the only person thinking I just threw $$ out the window of a fast moving car.
After sitting in Denver (190 miles away) for about two weeks, the mosquito killer has made its way to Indiana (1000 miles away) where USPS is apparently still waiting for it. This is beginning to make the quip toothbrush order seem like a rapid shipment. I did email customer service and agreed to refund if I don’t see it within a week, but there are mosquitos in my yard that need to see this thing.
Mine was dead on arrival but read these posts and discovered the disc on the battery. Appears to function now but still haven’t actually used it. No instructions but at least the box is entertaining: “1. Purple light ants, the power grid to destroy ants.” "2. Special effects lighting technology to protect mosquitoes, " Crap! I want it to kill mosquitos, not protect them.

Ah yes, let me hang this up in my tent. I love waking up showered in fried bug guts.
@lljk Everyone likes a hot breakfast.
This zaps things 16 ft away o.O?
I didn’t think mosquitos are even attracted to UV light?
@ACraigL They’re not. But you will kill a lot of other, helpful bugs with this device.

IP6 waterproof! Now I can zap those bugs at the bottom of the pool!
I just got one of these in last month’s IRK; here are some highlights from the product packaging!
@davidd13 interesting, since it’s not a speaker. And so, so much more. Wow.
@davidd13 Gotta love those translations. Had a cheap Chinese drill once that had a warning to not “graze the copper screezers”
@davidd13 I may have to buy this just for those instructions!
@dvshrt Now you tell me.
@davidd13 Purple?

@dave @thumperchick
It would have been nice if part 47 of the story wasn’t repeated, and then went straight to part 49, skipping part 48.
@PastaDrop Thanks, fixed!
@PastaDrop Sorry about that. Copy-paste error. If you want to go back and see what you missed:
@dseanadams @dave
Thanks.
(I was hoping, however, to find out who stuck the glow in the dark face paint, and where.)
I’m a sucker, I bought a gray one.
These type of zappers work great for moths inside your home.
In for a grey one. Mosquitos are nasty on our patio… don’t know how they got inside the lanai. Guess the skinks aren’t doing their job…
The electric flyswatters are a lot more fun, and more satisfying.
They don’t appear to have a battery. I’ve been “charging” for several hours now - and they don’t work unless plugged into a power source.

@be2u @butkus was having the same issue and this fixed it. Thanks!
@be2u @butkus thanks, since there aren’t any instructions there wasn’t any indication that the battery was accessible. Mines working now
@be2u @butkus @zxinfinity misplaced the instructions and went here to figure out the battery issue.
@be2u @butkus @MINUANO68 @zxinfinity what instructiones? lol
@be2u @butkus Pulled out paper from battery, charged up till red light went out. Nada. Will not turn on. What am I doing wrong? Edit, I’ve tried flipping the battery over as well.
@butkus Same issue here. Just saw the comment about the paper disc. Charge attempt #2 underway.
Anyone know the batter type if it needs to be replaced?
@butkus Same problem. Removed disc. No worky. Reversed battery…bingo!
@be2u @butkus thanks - i had tried removing the spaceer but reversing the battery did it!
I am so glad I poked in… I almost tossed these for not charging. lol
Still waiting on Pitney Bowes to deliver … 4th over with - maybe we’ll have them in time for the Labor Day picnic?
@scfd0766 Same here, mine has been sitting in Denver since July 30. I hope it’s keeping Pitney-Bowes mosquito free.
@mshipp @scfd0766 Mine has also been sitting since June 30th…

So, I live 15 minutes/miles from Venice - but yet the odds of these ever being delivered seems slim to none.

I didn’t realize they would be so tiny.
