Here’s a Fun Fact for You
I recently learned batteries contain electrolytes, just like certain sports drinks. Also like certain sports drinks, my doctor has advised me to refrain from consuming batteries as a source of electrolytes–as there are apparently healthier options.
@alacrity It is only now that I found out that yesterday’s flashlights took them. When I first saw the deal I clicked through the images until I found the exploded view of the flashlights, saw that it showed the AAA battery holder there, and went straight for the meh button based on that. Note to self, look a little closer at all the pictures next time.
nothing inspires thoughts of reliability, power and durability like the name Lucas.

Unless you’re British, and then you politely excuse yourself and laugh hysterically.
I notice in the writeup below the main page photo that MEH thinks Lucas is French. British, American and now German - no French in the history. Lots of us can laugh. But not the French, except at Meh.
@alacrity Lucas, the inventors of the intermittent wiper … and intermittent lights, intermittent starters, intermittent fuel pumps, and intermittent ignition systems.
Other than my smoke detectors, nothing I have runs off anything other than AA or AAA so… no thanks.
As for the AA and AAA batteries they are available this week at Office Depot for essentially the cost of the sale tax if you have a rewards account with them.
These are such shit batteries. I bought the AAAs last time. Obscene failure rates, sometimes taking the devices with them. Having a battery explode and leak in your headlamp while you’re in the attic with no easy way out is bad. Killing the headlamp is even worse. Kids toys too have succumbed to these batteries corrosive leaking. Even some of their own packaging failed because the batteries inside leaked.
I should have known. If your no-name company is licensing Lucas, the Prince of Darkness’ brand to sell anything electronic, it has to be so shit already that the Lucas branding won’t hurt anything.
I close with a joke: Why do the Brits like warm beer? Refrigerators made by Lucas.
I bought 2 sets last time and all 9V batteries (total of 4) were half empty when they arrived. I contacted meh and told them to recall the set or at least the 9V batteries. They generously refunded me the full amount I paid (Thanks!) but didn’t recall the sets.
So of course, I don’t know if that’s a new batch today. But even if it was, I wouldn’t buy Lucas batteries again.

Worst batteries ever made
March 27, 2019
I bought these on meh for $27.50 including taxes and shipping. This was for 72 aa and 72 aaa. I would never buy these again even for $10. They are by far the worst batteries I have ever used. Dont buy ever. Lucky to get 30 minutes out of a led work light when amazon brand batteries give me hours.
These are awful. I bought them. Straight out of the box about 1/3 were leaking and busted. Of the 2/3 left, half are dead when they come out of the package.
Lucas? Really? Anyone who has ever had the pleasure (?) of working on a British sports car from the 60’s knows that the word Lucas coupled with anything electric is well bloody horrible. Maybe the Chinese could have come up with a better brand name. They cursed this product with their current choice.
Even if not for the multiple comments stating they come leaking or dead, this is a terrible deal. When I get batteries it is at least 48 for $15, and they all work.
Wait, LUCAS batteries? As in Lucas electronics, the people that used to wire English cars and motorcycles? Lucas, prince of darkness. Why do the British drink their beer warm? Lucas wired the refrigerators. Nope. Doesn’t inspire confidence.
The 144 AAAs I got back in November were in packs of 4, so any leakage should be self limiting. Haven’t noticed any bad packs yet, but I’ve barely started using them.
For inexpensive disposals, just buy Costco brand Kirkland, often on sale. But beware, they also leak occassionally, and should not be left unused for any length of time in a device you value. Quality control seems to be a thing of the past. 谢谢您在中国制造的垃圾。
Aren’t these the same brand that they were selling that leak? My Xbox controller is almost broken because the contact point became corroded because of these little mofos. Come on meh, you are better than this.
I bought these primarily for the 9-volt batteries. They arrived today, and three of the four 9-volt batteries are unusable due to leakage right out of the box, as are four of the AA cells. Disappointed. I’d suggest Meh switch to another overstocked battery brand because these Lucas ones are rubbish. The ones I bought in the past did not leak, but discharged quickly, even while not in use.
I tried several of the others and found none that had more than one volt in them and several had nothing left in them, iv’e bought many many things from meh got some bad stuff but this is the worst junk so far and it will most likely quit them.

@shahnm Referring to the poll thread - is there any room in there for your leftover pasta?
@Kidsandliz It’s my favorite, so I ate it all…
If you bought yesterday’s deal, you’ll LOVE today’s!
@lljk wrong batteries… 18650’s are waaaaaay better

why
the Prince of Darkness made batteries?
I’m done with alkaline batteries, they leak too much.
(╯°□°)╯︵
Be afraid…Be very very afraid!
Meh Battery Afraid!
I don’t have the energy to get into why cheap power is a bad idea. The chances these are worth the current price? Shockingly low.
@Superllama7 I bought them last time Meh offered them for sale. They last for about ten minutes. Don’t buy them.
No thanks. I don’t have enough space in my fridge.
@cpierce Well then clearly you need to throw out your left over pasta.
@cpierce Yeh about that why do people keep batteries in there fridge?

Please separate into groups by size and sell those. The medleys are driving me crazy.

More batteries!! Bought mostly for the Cs, Ds, and 9-volts.

@PooltoyWolf But Giphy, that’s a crocodile!
You all are slackers… so I will do it:

@thismyusername How is this so literally perfect?
Other than my smoke detectors, nothing I have runs off anything other than AA or AAA so… no thanks.

@chienfou Ha ha…Sales tax
Can we just get like 50 AA and 50 AAA

Weird. I’ve had zero problems with my Lucas AAA batts. No leaks. Decent MaH. Duracell is the leak king.

good value for money. I recommend.

Last time I purchased these, half of them came leaking. No kidding.
@arfdawg that’s a humble brag, right? your average Meh battery shipment usually has about 75% of them leaking before the first week is out.
Just skip the middle man and pour some acid directly into your battery drawer.
Pure evil
Lucas batteries - Better than eneloop, coming pre-discharged for your convenience.
This has got to be a new low for Meh.
Are these the batteries that Chinese kids make in the corner of their one room apartment?
These are awful. I bought them. Straight out of the box about 1/3 were leaking and busted. Of the 2/3 left, half are dead when they come out of the package.
Why do the British drink warm beer…They all own Lucas refrigerators!!!
@dpritchardjr probably Lucas powered
Is this the same Lucas Prince of Darkness?
Lucas? Really? Anyone who has ever had the pleasure (?) of working on a British sports car from the 60’s knows that the word Lucas coupled with anything electric is well bloody horrible. @Dog19026 I feel like the comments here are a good way of spotting who has experience with vintage British sports cars.
@Dog19026 @novium Wire smoke. Positive grounds. Intermittent everything!

KuoH
Best Buy throws their Insignia brand on sale pretty regularly through the site or ebay. I have an SD alert for those sales, so I don’t need batteries.
Pick yourselves up some eneloops and stop throwing batteries in the trash…

@narfcake Been there done that. Hand built a replacement wiring harness for a Sunbeam Tiger. It was an education at the time. Never again.
@Dog19026 @narfcake Sunbeam Tiger!! A BEAST. Drove one once. Holy Cow.

Rechargeable batteries are more economical and better for the environment. Just a higher upfront investment.
Aren’t these the same brand that they were selling that leak? My Xbox controller is almost broken because the contact point became corroded because of these little mofos. Come on meh, you are better than this.
What does Lucas mean?
A form of Luke or Lucius, meaning “light-giving” or “illumination.”
Unlike the batteries so named.
I bought these primarily for the 9-volt batteries. They arrived today, and three of the four 9-volt batteries are unusable due to leakage right out of the box, as are four of the AA cells. @PooltoyWolf Here is the other 9-volt battery, from the second box.
@PooltoyWolf Weak. All I know is the AAAs don’t last long in my Tamagotchi On!
@medz I’ve never seen a Tamagotchi that used anything other than button or coin cell batteries!
@PooltoyWolf
/youtube tamagotchi on!
@medz Oh it’s a brand new one! Neat!
I also got some leaked 9v and AAAs
not such a good deal the 9volts were dead and swelled, haven’t tried the others.
I tried several of the others and found none that had more than one volt in them and several had nothing left in them, iv’e bought many many things from meh got some bad stuff but this is the worst junk so far and it will most likely quit them.
@joeylee1995 Just “most likely?” Did you write into CS? I bet they will make it right.
