I’ve bought a zillion of these for different spaces and homes over the years, and I think they are great. They are quiet and pretty stable and move a fair amount of air. I run one on low in my bedroom, not even pointing toward the bed, and it is just enough to promote air circulation in the room.
I think only one of them has failed (despite drops!), and Vornado replaced it. Give me this over a USB fan (I say, without sufficient knowledge).
I have four of these - very quiet, almost indestructible, and move a reasonable amount of air around for their size. We keep them on desks - no worries about accidentally hitting the blades, either by us or the cats
I’ve had one of these since 2012. still works perfectly. cannot recommend enough. as others have said very quiet and move a fair amount of air even with their size and the fabric blades make them very safe for curious cats like mine lol. definitely picking this up to have a few more around the house
I bought these a few months back when they were listed on Meh previously, they’ve been immensely helpful for us. As others have said they’re very quiet, and are ideal on a desk.
Very misleading that Meh chose to use images where the power cords on the fans were Photoshopped out.
These fans need 115 volts and only work when plugged into AC outlets. Those power cords are built into the fans’ motors.
The cords exist and are not optional. Erasing them from the promo images was intentional and very deceptive.
@i1patrick i bought these off meh but i was googling them today and even on vornado page they don’t have cables but it’s in the specs. So can’t blame meh when the manufacturer does the same thing.
While I’m not a fan-around-neck user, I did recently buy a square-ish fan (from Bez-mart) which clips to my belt and blows ambient air up under my shirt to, theoretically, help boost evaporative cooling.
Unfortunately, the humidity in my southern state is sufficiently high that the fan isn’t as effective as it could be, but I do think it’s better than nothing.
Technically, you could tie one around your neck and let it rest on your chest. You’re only limited by the length of your extension cord(s…)
YES, they have cords - get over it! Jeeeeez.
I don’t get why people say they are quiet. I think they are very loud for how much air they move. It’s cool to stick your finger into the blade though. Regret buying.
Bought fans on Meh 2 months ago and they are excellent for desk tops or kitchen counters. Noise has not been a problem and really appreciate the cloth blades. Happy consumer here.
@pakopako@radar5 i wish I had noticed your comment prior to ordering. These fans, while safer, put out almost no airflow beyond six inches. Disappointed.
I bought 2 of these from Meh (in its previous form) waaaaaaay back in bright orange and suffice to say they labored quietly and effectively for 2 decades as my desktop fan at home and work.
one suffered a big drop during a move last year and the other just silently stopped working recently.
its pure cosmic synergy that new colors of the same fans (in a 2 pack nonetheless) be offered by the newer version of the same website 20 years later.
So I bought these fans last year but hadn’t tried them out. I’d already bought this other model, which I was only somewhat happy with, but I was using them. Today’s sale motivated me to try this one out and I like it much better. It’s quieter and makes a gentler breeze.
Rereading this, I think it’s unclear - I’m trying to say I’ve been using the ones with the hard grill, pictured above, but just tried today’s item, with the soft blades, and like it a lot better.
I love these little things: one is a light breeze / white noise generator at the bedside, one sits where I configure drones so I can use it to cool ultra-hot video transmitters, a few have been given to my housemates, etc.
But I probably have bought enough. Between them and the 20+ antique electric fans lurking in every corner I think I have the whole fan thing covered at this point.

I bought the 2 pack last time because my mother was complaining her kitchen gets hot and so I put it on her fridge. She loved it. The other one is currently in use over my sweater drying on my dining room table. I recommend if you are a knitter or have a hot kitchen.
I’ve been running one today for a few hours and I ran it for a while yesterday. It keeps smelling odd - a kind of chemical smell or something, not sure how to describe it. Has anyone else noticed this? I keep hoping it will go away.
@Kyeh Make sure there isn’t anything dragging the blades; if they can’t spin as fast as the motor wants to spin them, the axle can work loose and spin free inside the axle shaft, eventually heating/melting the plastic. (That’s how one of my 10-year-old Zippis died; RIP old friend.)
I’ve had a pair of these for at least ten years; they’ve served me very well, but one of them finally died a few months ago. As it happens, I had just missed the last time they came up on Meh, so I bought a replacement for at mz*n; I’m still happy even at full price, but even happier to have caught this deal this time around!
Got my fans today, and they are garbage. Neither one moves much air (even for their size), and they run strangely hot. As a bonus, the green one makes a loud, intolerable clicking noise at either speed. Total waste!
This is a little bit better than I expected! Quiet, with a sturdy stand to angle it. Good power on the high mode. Upon receiving it i wondered oh no did I buy another lousy USB gadget. But no, it uses a regular AC plug! (which I am glad for)
This little contraption is a lot better than I expected! It turns the air and doesn’t hurt my hand. My only worry is if I put my eyeglasses down near it, it may not be kind on my eye-grapes.

It’s fun to play around with the fabric blades on these.
When all the new fans this size are USB powered and/or rechargeable though, I can’t help but think this fan design is getting on with the age.
I’m not a fan.

@sfwineguy we’ve asked you at least a million times not to exaggerate…
@Frcal deserved.

Anyone use tape to make the blades bigger

@i1patrick Oh the horrors! You should definitely rage on!
Also your reading comprehension is lacking:
2 Speed Control with a 6 ft. cord
and
Volts 120
PowerCord Length 6 ft.
PowerCord Plug Type 2-Pin Polarized
@i1patrick We are using the exact same images that both Vornado and Amazon use.
@gryhnd @i1patrick Also, pictures 2 & 3 DO show cords coming from them.
@i1patrick i bought these off meh but i was googling them today and even on vornado page they don’t have cables but it’s in the specs. So can’t blame meh when the manufacturer does the same thing.

Why do the pictures not have cords in them? If they are photoshopped out that’s super misleading. Why be so sketchy??
Are these personal fans, or “personal” fans?
@PocketBrain yeah
Technically, you could tie one around your neck and let it rest on your chest. You’re only limited by the length of your extension cord(s…)
YES, they have cords - get over it! Jeeeeez.
I bought some of these from woot! on june 14th 2009! I don’t use them a ton but they still work just fine.
They were 7.99 each!
@Masterface7 $7.99 each is outrageous. $7.495 is obviously the optimal price for these.
@jouest @Masterface7 16 years later! What inflation?!
I don’t get why people say they are quiet. I think they are very loud for how much air they move. It’s cool to stick your finger into the blade though. Regret buying.
@richlangston you could probably sell them here at $5
Bought fans on Meh 2 months ago and they are excellent for desk tops or kitchen counters. Noise has not been a problem and really appreciate the cloth blades. Happy consumer here.
I wonder if these would work well to keep bugs away from food at a bbq
@radar5 not really; the strength (and low power draw) are very low. At best, you might send the neighbor’s dogs into a frenzy with smell waft.
@pakopako @radar5 i wish I had noticed your comment prior to ordering. These fans, while safer, put out almost no airflow beyond six inches. Disappointed.

@Kyeh Zippi > Flippi
@user23489835 Yes!

“AI” Garbage.
@DrunkCat Your booze finally wear off??
Time to start polishing off a new case!!
Is the last photo an homage to The Hudsucker Proxy?
Still better than the speaker

They’re spinning freely.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@user04260084 I agree. I feel these should be sold in BOC only. Ultimate disappointment.
Also why do most photos show no cords? I thought they were battery operated. Thank goodness they were not expensive.
@rabbitadopt @user04260084 not even battery at all. one might wonder if it uses a USB plug, but it is a full-on AC cord!
